House that looks like Hitler catches eye of Twitter users

The elderly owner of an end-of-terrace house in Swansea has been left bewildered by an internet joke that his house looks like Hitler.

Hundreds of thousands of people have viewed or shared the link to a photograph of the house after it was published on Twitter, the social networking site.

The slanted roof was said to resemble the Hitler fringe, the door lintel was the moustache and the small top windows were seen as the dictator's piercing eyes.

The joke took off when it was tweeted by Jimmy Carr, the comedian, but the owner of the house in Port Tenant, Swansea, a man in his 70s, said he had never even heard of Twitter.

The tweet was first posted by Charli Dickenson, 22, a youth worker, who spotted the bizarre similarity as she drove past.

"I walk past the house all the time, but I had never noticed the Hitler likeness before," said Miss Dickenson. "But then, at the weekend, I was in the car with my boyfriend and we were stuck in traffic and I just said to him, 'That house looks like Hitler.' We both laughed. I took a picture and posted it on Twitter.

A driver has removed that nagging feeling after posting a picture on Reddit of a giant freeway billboard advertising a kettle that strongly resembles Adolf Hitler.
The JCPenney advert had motorists in Culver City, Los Angeles county, feeling as if they were going round the bend.
I saw this yesterday and my boyfriend told me I was crazy, now I feel better that I'm not the only one who saw this,' wrote user 4lavalencia said.
Tishacombs added: I stare at this from my office building every day and now I can tell my co-workers that I'm not the only one who saw the Hitler in the bells and whistles sign!'

The six-week-old cat - which was abandoned at the roadside - earned the moniker because of her distinctive black moustache.

Staff at Wood Green animal shelter in Godmanchester, Cambs., say they are struggling to find her a loving home because of her unusual markings.

Spokeswoman Tara Dundon said: ''Kitler is an adorable little girl who will make a wonderful addition to the right family. She is really playful and a typical sweet kitten.

''We rehome five and a half thousand animals every year but we cannot find a loving owner for Kitler. We think her unusual markings are putting people off.

''She is not a specific breed and we don't know where her black and white patches came from because we have no idea who her parents are.

Seriously though the book is a very good read although it has got slated and abused -even by its publishers. I found it quite convincing.

It looks to me like it's going to be the Sudetenland first. Is that a map he's reading?
