This was a book that the Bush administration block from mainstream media and talk shows at the time of publication. (1992)

In view of Mexico and the border war, I think it should be brought forward once again.

Book Review:

"... Information before the fact is always a good measuring stick. This work has all that and more. When this book first came out in 1992 the information within was not widely known or could not be readily documented beyond doubt or question. (even tho it was documented and the facts were there for anyone to see they received no press or attention...perhaps because it was an election year and the information went unnoticed)

Today much of that information and its embeded documention is found blasted in the headlines of today. The S&L is old news. The Iran-Contra, is old news. The drug war of the Regan era is old news. The alledged sweet deals of the time and their cover ups are also old news. However Mr. Brewton's book tells us about them when they were happening and while they were being covered up. They have become the FACTS of today and are now household stories. Time has proven the work. As of today, the facts have been establish for all to see and read .

We the American people have been had and it seems we don't care anymore. ..".

Even more so today March 2009 a real Cover-Up for many years. Today's MO is the same as that of 1992.

Pete Brewton, the author of "The Mafia, George Bush and the CIA"

THE MAFIA, THE CIA AND GEORGE BUSH (PART I)

0r.. The Best Way To Rob a Bank Is To Own It.

Former reporter for the "Houston Chronicle," Pete Brewton
tells of one of the most momentous stories of the past 50
years and how it has been suppressed by the establishment
media and the Congress. Pete's book "The Mafia, CIA and
George Bush," shows the incredible complexity of the
relationships in the operation of the destruction of
hundreds of Savings and Loans at the hands of the CIA and
the Mafia, stealing many billions of dollars in the process,
and leaving the taxpayers to bailout the banks. Big names
at the state and national levels of power are involved,
including Lloyd Bentsen, the Bush family, and power
brokers in Houston. People such as Kenneth Keating
(with the able assistance of Senator John McCain), and
Don Dixon, who are mentioned prominently in the press in connection with the S &L debacle, were merely front men or"cutouts" for the main movers. Keating and his ilk only took millions;the CIA and the Mafia looted billions.

That is the introduction of the players and the strategies of the CIA in collusion with the Mafia is the complex conspiracy to successfully loot our banking system. In the next installment we will show more about that history and then update the "nefarious looting mechanisms" to today and our current crises, so that a true investigation by our Congress, (after an informed citizenry of the United States can bear enough pressure on our unwilling government) can bring to justice the criminals that are the root causes of our national financial crisis.

484. THE MAFIA, THE CIA AND GEORGE BUSH (PART II)

Pete continues his story, emphasizing how he unraveled it and
how the press and the Congress have conspired to cover it up.

Thanks Magda. If anyone is really serious about why and how we as a nation got into this financal mess, then this book is a must read. It has parts about guns, drugs, and kickbacks... same ole' same ole'.

Obama does have his hands full dealing with these crooks.. I just hope he has very good security. I would hate to see history repeat itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you ready to lose your political innocence?, June 1, 1998

A real eye-opener! Unless you have some familiarity with the people and events detailed by Mr. Brewton, you will probably find all of his assertions nearly impossible to believe. I would have myself, except that I have been able to confirm several of the details with people directly involved with some of the principals in this book. Of the things I was able to check out, I have not found anything contrary to what Mr. Brewton says. Comment Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? Yes No (Report this)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Important Book, December 9, 1998
By A Customer

This is one of the two most important books published in this country this century. The other is "Dark Alliance" by Gary Webb. Brewton is a journalist par excellence. He makes the goose-steppers at the New York Times, LA Times and Washington Post look like the complacent wimps they really are. Yes, Virginia, the S&L "crisis" was a $160 billion ripoff by the mob, the CIA and George Bush and Sons. Read it and weep, America! Comment Comment (1) | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? 5.0 out of 5 stars No Surprises Here, January 21, 2004
By Rob[Image: carrot._V47081519_.gif] (Chicago) - See all my reviews
Where to begin? As I tallied up all of the mind-boggling abuses of power, criminal activity and greed I became filled with a deep sense of dread. I came to the realization that if only 1% of this book is true then this is a president (a family) that should be behind bars for a very long time. And we are all in some very serious trouble - unless you're Kenny-boy Lay. Dubya's stolen election, lies to start a war and the rampant cronyism plaguing our government today give all the more credence to this awesome work and further demonstrate just how desperately ruthless and vicious the Bush family is. For those of you who dismiss this tome as fiction - there's a reason the first few publishers wouldn't touch it. Here we go again - this time it's global!

It is a very good book Tosh and and important read. It certainly informed my views of the Bush family and the Texas mafia and CIA side of things. It was also very useful in explaining the covert background to the plundering of the Savings & Loan industry by the same forces.

If I recall properly Pete Brewton had two titles in mind. If Poppy Bush didn't get elected President on the Republican ticket then it would've been called:

"The Mafia, the CIA and Lloyd Bentsen"

Bentsen was part of the same very small corrupt clique in Texas with George H W Bush. They were interchangeable. No matter who won the '88 election the essential "programme" would've been the same.
