This is the beginning of a series of shorter pieces by David Josephs on certain issues in the JFK case.

This one is: how the heck did Oswald get a rifle onto the sixth floor, or know when the motorcade was going to be there?

Answer: I don't think so
It's even worse in trying to set up James Earl Ray and Sirhan. How could Ray possibly know that MLK was ever going to come out on that balcony that evening, or which room he was in? How could Sirhan have known that RFK would come back through the pantry? But they figure that most Americans aren't paying attention and won't ask such questions.
I agree Tracy, the King case is really kind of funny in the regard.

Lisa Pease did a cartoon once showing a guy pounding on the communal bathroom door saying, "I gotta go! I gotta go!" while Ray is saying in the background, "Where the heck is he?"

The truth is, Ray could not have known when he was going to come out and could not have known if someone was outside.

In JFK as David notes, there is no evidence that Oswald knew the motorcade was passing down Houston that day. In fact, the evidence is he was not aware of that at all.

But the WC wants us to think that not only did he know in advance, he got a gun onto the sixth floor when Bonnie Ray Williams was just there eating his chicken lunch.

I don't think so.
Just playing devil's advocate here for a sec: Oswald could not have known that the motorcade was going to turn off Main, onto Houston, and then again on Elm Street, its true; but it had been published in the papers Tuesday (2 days before his unexpected trip to Irving) that the motorcade was coming down Main Street. It would be a far more difficult set of shots to make, as the limo would be travelling at right angles to the view out the sniper's nest window, and a bit further away, but still well within rifle range, and no trees to interfere with the shots.

Dealy Plaza is much smaller (in person) than it looks on maps, or than it looms in our memories.
The article assumes that Oswald needed some sort of plan for him to be at a window at the right time with a rifle - if he indeed solely planned and executed the assassination.

Working backward to when he could have known about the motorcade being brought to his doorstep - the Nov 19th announcement in Dallas Papers - and what the evidence offered says he did,
does not indicate Oswald was in the process of ANY plan to assassinate, while the WCR creates a timeline for him which is completely unworkable...

ps... thanks again Jim for the oppotunity and support
RFK was headed to a room beyond the kitchen to give a press
conference. Someone I knew was waiting there to be part of it for a wire service.
That could have been found out by someone waiting. On the videotape of the podium, RFK starts
the other way off after his speech, and one of his staff tells him to turn
around and go toward the kitchen. Evidently RFK may have
thought he was going to another ballroom that could
be accessed from behind the platform. His lone security aide, Bill Barry, was
helping the pregnant Ethel down from the platform and dropped behind the
senator. So he was unprotected except for Thane Eugene Cesar (ahem). The
kitchen was jammed with people. A security nightmare. And someone had
to have planned the press conference and where it was to be held.
RFK was guided into the pantry by the same CIA killers who 'guided' Sirhan there.

We live in a society of philistines who are intimidated into not acting on this evidence because it would endanger America. Hardly the check and balance system we were lied to about in school.

This would seem to be very important.

My hunch would be that there could well be layers of people involved. For example, it could have "been suggested" as an option with another option having "been determined" to be problematic, maybe even a "security problem." The final answer? Nobody really decided it. It just kind of happened.

Just a guess. Maybe this is already out there.

Good point, Lauren. And the most successful way of implementing this to RFK's handlers would be to make them think it was their idea.
Even if they took the other route, it would been a simple matter to move Sirhan and Caesar down the corridor from the pantry to have them present. Either way the area would have been packed with people:
