When RFK was murdered in LA, LAPD use of CIA training instead of FBI was spotlighted. Still interesting to see the relationship still exists.

All major US cities [and some smaller ones] have officers that are either embedded CIA officers or maintain a relationship between the CIA and that Police Dept. (other intelligence agencies also liaise with many police departments) NYC is well known as having had and still having such a relationship. L.A. is not unique in this regard, but it was definitively shown during the 'investigation' of the RFK assassination [among other times]. So, the 'militarization' of the Police is not the only problem with them....they are also [and have long been] connected to the intelligence agencies. There is ample evidence that such relationships played a part in Dallas on 11/22/63. That evidence is most clear between some members of the DPD and Military Intelligence, but there were also many deep links to the CIA and FBI at play.
In the Uk we have a police division as an added layer that acts as liaison between every police division in the UK and the security and intelligence services. They are Special Branch and are the political police.
