One of Brixton's best kept secrets in the 80s was the Hamilton Arms in Railton Road (now alas another lumpen mini-supermarket). I first met my wife in there 30 years ago and we are still together. Famous for its all night lock-ins, somewhat dodgy deals and mixed clientele, it is sadly missed by many of us who never lost faith in the town's unique, but now cheesily Claphamised, flavour. LKJ was a regular, and a charming unassuming gentleman whom I knew quite well. Once in Water Lane I was walking along when a car slowed by my side and an arm thrust out a package to me: "James, me new album".
He's not particularly well these days but can be seen strolling through Brockwell Park. I still wear on occasions my much coveted and highly collectable 'Englan' is a bitch' lapel badge.
And so it is.
Thanks for this Magda!

You're welcome James and thank you for you interesting story. What a treat to have a little place like that all to yourselves. At least for a while. I believe there is a special place in hell for property developers.
