Manson murderess Leslie Van Houten was granted parole in California. The only reason this wasn't done earlier is because of puritanical reactionary forces that needed Van Houten in jail to justify themselves:

She was recommended for parole by the Parole Board; but Gov. Jerry Brown must sign off on it. Don't hold your breath.
