The first batch of long-awaited JFK documents have been released by the National Archives. JFK Facts have the story. 3810 documents have been released. 441 of those were previously withheld in full. Many of the rest present unredacted versions of documents that were previously censored. This is apparently part one, and more will be released between today and the October deadline. On a phone so can't post the immediate link but there are many gigabytes of material now awaiting the attention of researchers here and elsewhere.

Here is the release page. There seem to be SO MANY trying to download that nothing is downloading on my computer, and I was told repeatedly that the connection failed. There seem to be about 20 GB of data [zipped]....so more than that unzipped.

Downloading fine for me so far. I've gone for the first of the 'formerly withheld in full' volumes. Will let you know how I go.

frustrating that nothing is downloading...I can't imagine their computer system is so puny or there is such a big demand for these that the system is crashing.....I had some START to download, but then fail. I have nothing after quite a long period of trying....::

Check the Excel docs linked on the download page for file contents. Good HSCA files in the third download file. OUTLINE: LHO, THE CIA, AND MEXICO CITY. Following a bunch of 'not believed relevant' files that and a few others are cited SENSITIVE ORIGINAL HELD BY CIA. Digging through the other Excel docs now.

Hmmm....wonder if they have blocked non US access!

I'm in Australia. I expect it's just busy or slow. A bit pointless trying to block downloads of a widely publicised archives release that will be discussed on numerous sites and referenced in mainstream news reports for the next few months. A file download (pt 3) has also slowed down for me as well. Might take a day or two for things to settle down I expect. Some folks at the JFK Education Forum have downloaded some of them already.

Yes, probably just overloaded....pathetic computer server they must have, as I really don't think there are that many interested in this arcane topic. I have had to resume the download about 30 times to get one-third through my first one...at this rate.....pppffffttt. A lot of pages to go through to find the 'goodies'...but have to download them first! ::prison::

My transfer failed. I will try again tomorrow.

Suggestion: look for a site where all successfully downloaded files can be shared. Maybe that is already being done.
