I think people should assume the worst and China Syndrome is happening at the Japanese nuclear plants.

Since the government lies to us and can't be trusted I think people should spread the word to be aware of radioactive interfaces in the near future from possible nuclear contamination.

I'm following this very closely, and this is in the very field that I'm trained in. While the officials are underplaying the severity of what could happen, I think they have at least 'hinted' [reading behind the lines] about what has, so far.

Yes, there is radiation that has been released and it will spread via the Gulf Stream to Alaska, Canada and Northern parts of the USA - in about 3 days and continue on to Europe et al. The total amount thus far is not [yet] an emergency....but that well could come. There is not much one can do at this point. When it comes to an emergency, then there are measures one can take.....right now one has to hope that those battling with that bad technology will actually prevail.

The potential situation is as bad as Chernobyl, BUT, to this moment the TOTAL radiation release is limited and limited to the area near the reactors. Yes, this could change and I also fear it will. But short of moving to another Planet, there is not much at this point you can do. Sadly. At this point, it will simply [sic] be adding to the background radiation burden, worldwide. While there have been some short-term releases of very large amounts of radioactive particles [during the hydrogen explosions and when there was a fire in one of the used-fuel ponds, again, thus far, the TOTAL release while not a good thing is not yet a catastrophe. If it gets to that point, I will post what measures one can take, personally.

I'll not disagree with you on getting out the message of the dangers of nuclear power, in general.
I don't think the politics of this should go unmentioned.

The US had a military government in Japan post-WWII. They installed submarine nuclear reactors in public facilities which were not the best design for that particular type of usage. Japanese culture was a military government, rules-obeying type where such designs wouldn't be questioned. US private corporation contractors sought foreign markets without any US level regulation.

Recipe = Giant Japanese Chernobyl possibly X 4...

In short American arrogance is blowing back on it in the form of nuclear fallout and world environmental disaster. Here is the real invisible hand of the free market doing its magic - only backhand style.
