Shermer, like the Amazing Randi, are no more skeptics than the spider in the web is. They are professional operators with a product to sell. Their cult like beliefs in 'skeptikism' and the dishonest ways they seem to engage with those who aren't buying their version of reality show the lie they try to hide.

Me thinks the gentlemen doth protesteth too much.
Deniers never confront the evidence directly.
Notice they omitted the shootdown of TWA Flight 800. Some very intelligent and high-earning credible professionals were involved there with provable evidence. They don't want to bring attention to the fact it was the government that acted in the Nazi manner in the flagrant criminal concealment of the evidence.
He really jumps through the Orwellian looking glass when he patronizes the Bush administration for violating his skeptic code and therefore becoming conspiracy theorists themselves with the WMD! Ah, Mr Shermer, they did the same thing with Oswald...
