Well, have to say I sighed a small sigh of relief....Romney and those behind him frightened me even more than those behind Obama. We are still left with someone who daily reviews his kill list, pursues any war and death by drone action his military ask [or tell] him to; who allows the banksters free-reign and has put only two I can remember in prison [because they stole from the rich, not the poor]; is still working for the big corporations and not the People IMHO [rhetoric to the contrary]. We still have the [un]Patriot Act and sister legislation, you can be arrested and tortured without trail, evidence given in court or ever seeing a lawyer. You can even be killed without due process at the President's [or some above him's] will. We still have a full on 'war on [of] terror'; We are spied upon electronically and by FBI, CIA, NSA, NSA, DHS spies; we have the highest % of citizens in prison - most for non-violent crimes - many for having drugs the Govt. brought in! - or the crime of being poor or Black; Neither 911 nor Dallas have EVER REALLY been investigated - as opposed to covered-up, and the government is even trying its best not to allow citizen investigators do that work. Etc. Et. al.

We still only have a one-party system, even if it has two wings with some differences between them; We still do NOT have most Americans aware enough of the treason against and subversion of our laws and Constitution - the many coups and covert operations, government overthrows [including out own]; the false-flag ops small and large that have become a common feature; We still have most Americans thinking they participate in politics every two or four years by voting - when they must participate with their every action and perhaps inaction [like a general strike or go to a protest]; most are still addicted to junk diversions like TV, junk food, junk information (propaganda rather than news), junk science, junk education, junk history, and just plain junk they don't need or is killing them and the Planet.

A hell of a lot of work to do, IMHO.....in reversing completely the trend that both wings of the single party have steered [at the behest of their real masters] the Nation away from democracy and any civility, equality, compassion, justice, or learning from history and planning for the future - since WW2 [even before]. It is a ship of state headed for disaster and most Sheeple on the deck just along for the ride.....

So, IMO, it could have been worse, but it is still horrible as we awake this day. For any who have not read Tarpley's book The Unauthorized Biography of Barrack Obama, I suggest it highly to understand the strings which control him. A look at his advisors, especially those from the 'financial/banking/coporate' Empire also give one strong clues as to who he serves....and the connections between the two 'parties'...

Roll up your sleeves.....and don't rejoice....get active....as it is either US or the Deep Political Cabal in control. Time is short.
Well, the magic underpants didn't work. Nor did the Koch brother millions. Very relieved that Mitt didn't win and I think there are a few million Iranians who are breathing a bit easier tonight too.

Damn, I was just about to buy futures and credit default swaps in magic underwear!
One good thing to come out of today Colorado just became the first state ever to legalize marijuana.

Great!...but the Federal Govt. will certainly challenge that....up to the Supreme Court, I'd imagine....

US Election: Colorado is first state to legalize sale of marijuana

Colorado became the first state to legalize the possession and sale of marijuana for recreational use on Tuesday, setting up a possible showdown with the federal government as backers of a similar measure in Washington state declared victory.

A third measure to remove criminal penalties for personal possession and cultivation of recreational cannabis was defeated in Oregon, where significantly less money and campaign organization was devoted to the cause.

Supporters of a Colorado constitutional amendment legalizing marijuana declared victory and opponents conceded defeat after returns showed the measure garnering nearly 53 percent of the vote versus 47 percent against.

"Colorado will no longer have laws that steer people toward using alcohol, and adults will be free to use marijuana instead if that is what they prefer. And we will be better of as a society because of it," said Mason Tvert, co-director of the Colorado pro-legalization campaign.

The legalization puts the state in direct conflict with the federal government, which classifies cannabis as an illegal narcotic.

The U.S. Department of Justice reacted to the measure's passage in Colorado by saying its enforcement policies remain unchanged, adding: "We are reviewing the ballot initiative and have no additional comment at this time."

In Washington, cannabis legalization was passing by a handy margin, according to state returns, and supporters gathered at a Seattle hotel declared victory after local media, including the Seattle Times, declared the measure had been approved.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA VICTORY

Separately, medical marijuana measures were on the ballot in three other states, including Massachusetts, where CNN reported that voters approved an initiative to allow cannabis for medicinal reasons.

Supporters there issued a statement declaring victory for what they described as "the safest medical marijuana law in the country."

Seventeen other states, plus the District of Columbia, already have medical marijuana laws on their books.

Under the recreational marijuana measures in Colorado and Washington, personal possession of up to an ounce (28.5 grams) of marijuana would be legal for anyone at least 21 years of age. Oregon's initiative would have legalized possession of unlimited amounts of pot for recreational use.

All three proposals also would permit cannabis to be legally sold, and taxed, at state-licensed stores in a system modeled after a regime many states have in place for alcohol sales.

The Colorado measure will allow personal cultivation of up to six marijuana plants, but "grow-your-own" pot would be banned in Washington state.

Tvert said provisions legalizing simple possession would take effect after 30 days, once the election results are officially certified. The newly passed amendment also mandates establishment of a regulatory framework for sales and excise tax collections once the state legislature reconvenes in January 2013.

"The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will," Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, a Democrat who opposed the measure, said in a statement. "This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through."

He added: "Federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don't break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly." :canabis:
I thought State's rights were taken very seriously there?

Very complex to answer that....the States take them seriously, the Federal Govt., only when they find it 'convenient' for their Deep Political agenda....but more complex than that!!!!
Wisconsin Elects Country's First Openly Gay Senator, Tammy Baldwin

By Kerry Howley

Posted Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 9:55 PM ET

Wisconsinites indulged in some grotesque anti-lobbyist prejudice today and chose seven-term openly gay congresswoman Tammy Baldwin over Tommy Thompson to replace Democrat Herb Kohl in the Senate. Baldwin had a huge fundraising advantage throughout the race, and she used the money to portray Thompson, who may have been remembered fondly by some as the state's former governor, as the health care company consultant he has been for years. Thompson, for his part, blamed the lobbying on his wife's spending habits. Women!

Baldwin is a progressive solid enough to have voted against authorizing the Iraq War and against a pro-Patriot Act resolution masquerading as pro-veteran. She wrote the part of the Affordable Care Act that lets adults stay on their parents' health care coverage until they're 26. Her sexual orientation wasn't an issue during the campaign, but Baldwin isn't averse to talking about it. "If you are not in the room, the conversation is about you," she told The Guardian this week. "If you are in the room, the conversation is with you. We never had an openly LGBT member of the U.S. Senate, and even though there are strong pro-equality allies who serve there, it has always been a conversation about a group of people. So this changes everything.
And it's a victory for victims of sexual abuse. Those were the races I was more concerned about. Did we want men who believe a woman's body shuts down to prevent pregancy from rape or worse that such a pregnancy is a gift from God ???? The people spoke. I believe there were a lot of victories last night. From Elizabeth Warren, a real progressive, to the grandson of RFK, to three states legalizing pot, and maybe Obama.....will grow some. Time will tell.

I go to court happy today. And yes, hopeful.
