John Hankey and pals up to old tricks? - Dawn Meredith - 13-06-2013

Tracy Riddle Wrote:Just think if all the time and energy researchers spent fighting with each other was devoted to solving the case. Hmmm, we might have cracked it decades ago. Along with RFK, MLK and many others. Hell, we might even be able to break out of our little circle and reach the uneducated masses and re-write the established history.

But no, I guess we won't do that. Remember, this is not about us, or our little egos and agendas. Do we want to tell our grandchildren that we might have been able to build a more honest and just society for them, but we spent too much time on internet forums calling each other names?

Tracy:This has been my montra forever. I normally do not get into it with others. But that comment by SC requesting that I leave set me off. His comment is now gone and I have requested that mine be removed as well.
I agree we need to be united. Sigh..

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular. It's been a huge problem for 50 years. I get depressed looking through Harold Weisberg's archives and seeing the vast amount of time and energy he spent writing angry letters and manuscripts ranting and raving about other people. Probably contributed to his health problems.

We can disagree with each other without making personal attacks. Personal insults are the last refuge of the lone-nutters, after all.

I too spent a lot of time searching through the Weisberg archives and was shocked at how much energy he wasted on criticizing others. I was most amazed that he wrote a book-length critique of John Newman's "Oswald and the CIA" because he completely misunderstood Newman's position and somehow inferred that Newman was leading up to a book in which he would place the blame for the assassination on Castro!

I saw that manuscript too, and wondered where he got that idea. Perhaps Newman originally leaned toward a Castro theory when he first began his research, then changed his mind.
