No one likely twittering yet knows. It is only speculation at this point. Soon, if not already, both the Russians and the Americans will know well what happened. It is also possible the Ukranians, separatists, and NATO would also have enough information. For the Russians, Ukranians and USA, it will be from their radar, and for the Russians and USA their spy planes, satellites and other assets. The separatists claim to have the two black boxes and are going to give them to the Russians. Its going to be a mess - and I doubt if there will ever be general agreement as to who did what.
By the way, using this 'distraction' as a kind of cover, Israel has just announced a ground invasion of Gaza........
