Marina led the cops to the location where she thought the rifle was, on Nov 22, 1963. Oswald had a pistol in his hand when arrested that same day.
The weapons siezed by DPD, and the weapons in the National Archives, are not necessarily the SAME pistol and rifle as the ones he ordered. And yes, the evidence sucks.

I would offer that the man Ruby killed did not order the rifle or pistol, that the pistol in evidence is not the one used on Tippit or ever in Harvey's possession and he did not use HIDELL as an alias but as the identity of a ficticious person.
Only the SSS card - which is obviously a fake - ever connected the image of HARVEY with the name HIDELL.
He used "Robert Hidell" as a job reference
Dr. HIDEEL's vaccination is dated June 8 1963 (the stamp kit was covered with "June 8") so once again he is referring to a HIDEEL as a third person, not himself. This vaccination page might have been needed for his Passport application on June 23 yet was definitely needed for leaving the US and entering Mexico and leaving Mexico to enter the US... http://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh24/html/WH_Vol24_0309b.htm this is CE2121 which describes MExican officials boarding the bus and checking docs... Either way HIDEEL was not referring to HARVEY
and this doc shows that even by 11/24 AFTER the Klein's info was already in hand, that HIDELL was not necessarily an alias - an in fact there is no direct evidence that HARVEY ever claimed his name was Alek Hidell..

I have not read all the info related to FPCC yet - the link is to archive.org's books of senate hearings as shown below. I think it would make very interesting reading and well worth the time. Ultimately it appears to me that FPCC was designed to congregate the names of Castro supports... but I'll need to do more digging.

I doubt that Marina was "desperate" at the time she was assisting Dallas PD and Dallas SO find the rifle in the garage. Those guys didn't speak Russian. It seems unlikely that they would threaten Marina (thru Paine) while both Paine and Marina were assisting them.
Eventually, I'm sure desperation was a part of her emotional state, but not during the first search.
Whether or not she took the pictures (which sworn testimony she has never retracted, BTW) she knew Oswald had A rifle, and A pistol.
David, I believe that you are uneccesarily splitting hairs. When you create, or use, a ficticious name or person, that IS "using an alias," even if you don't get caught specifically identifying yourself as the alias. Most people (who aren't spies) who create and use ficticious personas DONT WANT to be connected to that alias. It defeats the purpose of being able to deny committing whatever conduct they will later try to blame on the alias.
You should focus on why "Harvey" used the alias(es) - there was more than one -, and then ask your reader if the other use(s) of those alias(es) are consistent with "Harvey's" reasons, or with some other purpose. And then ask your readers who might have been in position to know that "Harvey" was using aliases.

Have to disagree with you Drew... an ALIAS is a name used in place of one's own identity. HIDELL was used by others to implicate HARVEY.
HARVEY himself never used HIDELL when referring to himself.
He never offered HIDELL ID when doing anything for himself...
NAGEL was known to have used HIDELL as his alias at times...
Like Maurice Bishop was Phillips alias as he himself used the alias... it was not fostered upon him by others.
Can you offer any evidence to support his using Hidell as an alias rather than to refer to someone else?
Prove your assertion before making me ponder questions about unsupported assumptions.
And if we are now going to talk about Marina's testimony as something reliable and honest I have a Silly Bullet Theory to sell you.
Marina told FBI and SS that she never worked a camera in her life - in Nov 1963
When her testimony comes around, things change... it's in the article.
She never worked it, she took 1 photo, wait 2 photos, no it was 3 photos... c'mon Drew. Like Marguerite, Marina is a fraud.
the SS interview Nov 29th: "She was asked whether she had any knowledge of Lee's trips to Mexico or Washington, D.C. She replied in the negative. She was asked whether she or Lee had any cameras and she replied that Lee bought one camera in Russia and a second one in the United States. She said one was a small camera and the other was a box camera. She added that sho was not proficient with operating any Cameras and she never had an opportunity to do so." See here ("never had an opportunity to work the camera" requires yet another back-peddling recant when the infamous Backyard photos come up)
