Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Jim DiEugenio - 06-11-2012 Thanks Vasilios. Yes, those are some of the highlights I hit. The Freeport McMoran stuff is so interesting. Lisa did such a wonderful job with that. And I think I am the first person to use it to any degree in a book like this. Fonzi was the first person to note in in the HSCA files. But those were all classified. Lisa picked up on it through both his work and Garrison's. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Phil Dragoo - 06-11-2012 Clearly Destiny Betrayed: JFK, Cuba, and the Garrison Case is a Key to Rebecca, a most valuable acquisition. Your twenty-two-page Chapter Three: Bay of Pigs: Kennedy vs. Dulles, patiently develops as a fuse, leading to the explosive: In telling the true story of Kennedy's murder in light of the declassified record, it is hard to overestimate the importance of the failed invasion at Playa Giron. Because of the cover story that Dulles and Hunt circulated, many of the operatives involved never forgave Kennedy. And as we shall see, there is evidence that some of them were in Dallas that day, perhaps in Dealey Plaza. (Phillips admitted to his brother he was there; Hunt, to his son.) At the time, even the fifteen-year-old neighbor boy across the street, who'd be sacking groceries soon, father an Army veteran of World War II, would blurt, "that [expletive deleted] traitor." In Give Us This Day is that despair expressed in Phillips with his bottle and his blanket, his vomiting and his weeping. Morales' "we took care of that son of a bitch" and our friend from Army intelligence, "Kennedy was very dangerous" Dulles summoned Hunt in November, upon pro forma retirement from his life's work, from the Agency he'd fashioned from a nosey Parker into a provocateur Phillips and Hunt had Angleton's character, one Marxist Marine defector, to be forged into a pro-Castro assassin With Dulles as chief inspector Just as Helms trapped Nixon's threat in Watergate, so, too, did Dulles destroy Kennedy at the Bay of Pigs In each case the demise was two years out Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Jim DiEugenio - 15-11-2012 Good news. I will be doing Coast to Coast on anniversary eve, November 21st at 11 PM EST. Listen in. SHould be good. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Alan Dale - 15-11-2012 Jim DiEugenio Wrote:Thanks Mr. Healy. Hello Jim, For all who have not been refreshed by listening to the complete audio of Jim Garrison's appearance with a very primed and adversarial Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, 31 Jan., 1968, here's Mr. Garrison's summation from the final segment of that program: "...I am trying to tell you that there is no question, as the result of our investigation, that an element of the Central Intelligence Agency of our country killed John Kennedy, and that the present administration is concealing the fact. There is no question about it at all...I know it, and if you will just wait, you will see that History will support this as fact." Mr. Garrison is forcefully declaring, unambiguously, in public, on network television, that an element of the CIA killed President Kennedy. It was late January of 1968. The fact that this many years later some extremely serious scholars who've labored over an ocean of declassified documents, scrutinized every syllable of congressional testimonies and investigative reports, awaited decades of incremental improvements in scientific methods and technologies, and persevered in an intellectual war against an entrenched authoritarian bureaucracy which is resistant to free inquiry have come to the same conclusion is rather astonishing. I'm looking forward to reading your book. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Jim DiEugenio - 15-11-2012 Alan: I actually close the book with Garrison's appearance on the Carson show. With a different quote though. Thanks, and I think you will like it. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Jim DiEugenio - 19-11-2012 Here is an interview I did that was just published today. http://www.examiner.com/article/jfk-assassination-redux-part-1-james-dieugenio-on-destiny-betrayed-q-a Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Phil Dragoo - 20-11-2012 Jim Your contextualization is vital to understanding the significance: John F. Kennedy was one hundred eighty degrees from Dulles Brothers' Regime Change R Us. Restoring the focus of Garrison's work involves revealing the epic effort to obstruct it--indeed the question contains the answer: if Jim Garrison was on a Quixotic mission of no import, why the massive effort of both CIA and FBI to enlist journalists, defense lawyers, judges, governmental figures against it, to poison the public mind to insure rejection. Chomsky you've labelled a fool, and others would redeem him for his non-JFK work, but his decontextualization typifies the national brainwashing. The lie that JFK would have led us to war in Vietnam for a decade of slaughter and a half century of shame is part of the lone gunman/magic bullet lie, one grand deception which all must accept to avoid the label of heretic, apostate, and that ultimate Mexican hat dance of epithet: conspiracy theorist. This is an era when news and education are phases of conditioning, Gottlieb meets Bernays to perpetuate the Unspeakable. The sunstein is setting on that world. Harris and Hunt have neutralized the Magic Bullet. You show the "innocent businessman" to have been a subject of the greatest concern to the twin premier intelligence agencies. Have DB2 and looking forward to you on BOR on the 21st Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Phil Dragoo - 22-11-2012 I enjoyed the two-hour discussion of the book and the evidence. George Noory was attentive and informed--had read the book, facilitating the pace. What a realization, that Garrison sacrificed a stellar political future to pursue his obsession. Helms was determined to make an example and an example he made. I look forward to such figures as Sergio Arcacha Smith--whom Lt. Francis Fruge of the Louisiana State Police told HSCA's Bob Buras had sewer maps of Dealey in his apartment searched by police (Smith was one of two men who threw Rose Cheramie from the car en route from Miami to Dallas. John Hunt's work revealed Robert Frazier received the stretcher bullet at 7:30 Eastern from Agent Elmer Lee Todd who arrived forty-five minutes later, having the artifact originally "discovered" on the stretcher not Connally's (per Josiah Thompson Six Seconds in Dallas and Robert Harris The Connally Bullet). I missed the previous guest who positied Diem as the prime mover of the assassination (take a number: LBJ, Israel, the Mob, Cubans, KGB, oil men, et cetera have been speculated before you). Jim set the table quickly, Kennedy cabled to reform Diem or if he would not clean up his act, prompt his exit, not his execution. Pointing to Unspeakable, Lodge is the man who would be king, playing his own hand, treating Kennedy with contempt. The discussion of the new 21-minute AF1 tape with LeMay's aide de camp attempting to communicate with him inbound to DC ties into Finck admitting a general called the shots at the autopsy. Jim's allusion to Dulles' Cromwell & Sullivan clients ties in very nicely with placing Garrison's focus at high-midrange with Phillips and Hunt over Ferrie, Smith, et al. Not a simple matter, but clear speaking made quite an impact I would think. Simply saying that Kennedy signed his death warrant by seeking peace is a revolutionary act. Real revolution; not t-shirt revolution. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Jim DiEugenio - 22-11-2012 Thanks Phil. I was surprised that George read much of my book that fast. We only sent it to him on Monday. But he must have liked it since he read a good deal of it. And he asked good questions. I really liked answering the one about Dulles visiting Truman to get him to retract his editorial since Dulles thought he knew the reason he wrote it was over Vietnam. If that does not exhibit "consciousness of guilt" I don't know what does. Destiny Betrayed is shipping - Anthony Thorne - 25-11-2012 I read the first four chapters today and they're outstanding. A strong, ominous narrative develops and every observation about how the various Kennedy initiatives rubbed Dulles and his cohorts the wrong way is illuminating and on target. I was particularly taken with the discussion of Angleton and how (a.) he worshipped Dulles, and (b.) the various goings-on led him into contact with Morales and the like at that time. (I haven't read NEXUS yet but see from the footnotes that some pieces of info are from that book). This new edition of DESTINY is going to be a useful volume to return to as I push through reading and analysing the other books and documents available on the case. |
