Naturally the US block the UN resolution to condemn the attack of the Russian embassy.

Magda,

Astonishing. Especially considering our experience of having an embassy sacked with hostages taken.

Samantha Power kicking butt.

Yes, but also the same bunch of psychopaths that bombed the Chinese embassy in Belgrade. No regard for international laws.

yah, thanks for the reminder. Back in the day when I used to believe my government. How embarrassing.

BTW, I hate the title of this thread. It used to make sense for a short time, but not any more. I am tempted to change the title to something like the US/NATO War on Russia. I think that's what it is. Or just start a new one and let this one go into the archives. I really hate this title, tho. Thoughts?

Well, here it is. As the DJIA stays around record highs, supremely unworried, I ask again: Is the fix in? The VIX, a mathmatical measure of stock market volatility is approaching single digits, despite the threat multiple wars and a subsequent oil shock, not to mention mention the threat to dollar supremacy. Somehow, the Saker's hopes that Putin, a multi-billionaire is the world's savior, just doesn't cut it. Is the fix in?

Quote:Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has announced a unilateral ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, halting the so-called "anti-terrorist operation." Anti-government activists must now lay down arms or be destroyed, the Interior Ministry said on its website.

EDIT: At any rate, there are rumors that there are Russian troop movements approaching the border. Another rumor is that there is an armored column with Crimea! flags moving northward. So, is Putin going to fight, with the cease fire in place to put him into an even worse light in the "Western" press? Reports of concentration camps and mass graves are coming forth.

Maybe Putin is willing to risk his billions and place himself as an enemy of the Empire. We know what happens to heads of state that do that.

PR

A remarkable video. I am glad the English subtitles were finally added. I wonder to what extent he is speaking for the RF gov? If he is, he has provided the case for an invasion of eastern Ukraine, and the entire state of Ukraine. Then he pulls back and says that attacking Kiev is not required.

Tomorrow is June 22nd, the date of both Barbarossa and Operation Bagration.

Interesting question, the Kiev one. Several solutions suggest themselves, none of them particularly appealing, but I suspect a Kadyrov-type solution is being given earnest consideration. Then again, that option may be reserved for the Galician heartland of the UNA-UNSO death cult.

An interesting thought keeps recurring: Amidst all the understandable debate about whether the US has spun a web from which Russia cannot extricate itself, it's been almost entirely ignored the extent to which US actions have served Moscow's purposes - from swinging elite domestic opinion behind the turn to Asia, to radicalising Russian Ukraine - rather nicely. Just a thought.
