Education Forum closing yet again... - Jim Hargrove - 21-02-2014 Dawn Meredith Wrote:One researcher who is NOT driven by ego is John Armstrong. I saw a fb post a few days ago about Joan Mellen speaking in Los Vegas, where John lives part time. He was in the audience and she called him up to the stage. He and I had a conversation about it that night after I communicated with Joan about this. Also there was an allegation - on facebook-that he was "afraid to interview Judy Baker". Not so , he did a long time ago and caught her in some ...ah....troublesome comments. Then she hung up on him. Thanks, Dawn, for standing up for our friend John. If anyone here is unfamiliar with John Armstrong's research, please click on the link below: Jim Education Forum closing yet again... - Dawn Meredith - 21-02-2014 Jim DiEugenio Wrote:Simkin did not do a very good job running the site I think, and Jeff Morley is offbase in attributing why.Jim:You have got to be proud that the wonderful RCD quit because of what got done to you. Can't get a better compliment than that. John told me that Walt Brown's mag is online now and that someone wrote that John's essay which I presented was identical to very one he had presented in 95. John said he called Walt and asked him about this and Walt said he would look into it and get back to him. I tried to find it online but had no luck. I just have his final paper one where he said goodbye and was selling all his JFK books. Anyone seen this? Education Forum closing yet again... - Jim DiEugenio - 22-02-2014 Yes Dawn, that was great that RC Dunne decided to split over the banning of me and Scully. And he was eloquent about it. And he warned Simkin in advance that he would leave. But it was not just him. It was Martin Hay and Dwayne Dunn also. They also spoke up strongly. In fact, I personally congratulated Dwayne on one of the best posts I ever read there over this issue. He was saying the elimination of posts afterwards was unethical. Because people joined up not thinking it was Simkin's private preserve. But more like a bank or Savings and Loan that they had invested in, and the investment would always be there. Well, it was not. That was a broken trust. Education Forum closing yet again... - Jerry Ellis - 22-02-2014 If the Edu JFK forum is shut down, I wonder if the content be left online for research? Seems that it is a great collection of research. Education Forum closing yet again... - Magda Hassan - 22-02-2014 I've already downloaded the contents just before he closed it last time and would highly recommend any one interested in the content do so while it is still on line. I hope JS keeps it on line for future reference but he may not want to pay the cost of that or to have that maintenance to do. Not sure if he is just closing the JFK section or the whole of the forum. http://www.httrack.com/ Education Forum closing yet again... - Cliff Varnell - 25-02-2014 Mitchell Severson Wrote:I can't really disagree with Simkin, but he certainly made some mistakes that led to the downfall of his forum. It has been an absolute wasteland since the last purge. If it weren't for the likes of Pat Speer, Larry Hancock and James Richards, I wouldn't ever check out the site. Unfortunately, I doubt they'd post over here. Pat Speer seems like a nice guy but his work is the worst. The. Worst. In the entire field he occupies a special place -- the "CT" who backs LNers at the important points -- the location and nature of JFK's back and throat wounds. And Len Osanic gave this Vichy pixie dust a spot in his "50 Reasons" series? May the Universe help us. I don't post at the Ed forum JFK section anymore because Pat Speer is a moderator and his work inspires so much contempt I no longer dare express myself in this regard over there. I have too much to lose, for now. The Ed Forum ranks high in Google and I get more hits over for what I really care about: "The Origin History of the term 'Hardcore Punk Rock'" http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=20940 It would be great if, instead of closing down the entire Ed Forum, Simkin just closed down the JFK section and kept the rest of it open. Hardcore punk rock is more relevant than EVER Louder-faster-shorter songs + DIY ethic + a subversive intent sharp and sincere Like any "parent" I'm proud of my "kids"... Education Forum closing yet again... - Mitchell Severson - 25-02-2014 I think Pat Speer is one of the best posters Simkin ever had. And, just as important, he comes off as a damn good human being. Even if I don't always agree with the guy, he brings quite a lot of data per post and pretty compelling arguments. His strange position in the research community only enhances his credibility in my book - I can't fathom how you have to have the same interpretation over reams of complicated data to be considered an equal in the critical community. Although, other than ignorance and emotional problems, I can't fathom how you could be a Lone Nutter, either. Education Forum closing yet again... - Dawn Meredith - 25-02-2014 I have not trusted Pat for many many years. If his research is shit- and it is- then what does that tell you? David glad you called him out on his illogical nonsense. Illogical if he is a LEGIT researcher. About personal issues as well as this case. I got some very upsetting news yesterday after court and he was "there" for me. This am before I begin work I am going to begin to re-read Harvey and Lee, take notes and FINISH it this time. Something about Watergate came up in our conv. yesterday and I gave my reason for what happened to Tricky Dick and JA again reminded me that I had not finished his book, where he presents his reasons as to what happened to the Prez. . Then he hit me with a zinger. Asked if I had read Best Evidence in its entirely. I said yest in 82 in law school. He replied that I then must think more highly of David Lifton than I do him. So today I re- begin H & L, take notes and finish it this time. Dawn |
