The two Rubys - Tracy Riddle - 30-03-2016

Jim Hargrove Wrote:Must we look at this as if we've read the Warren Report and nothing else? Ruby/Rubenstein clearly was either a U.S. intel operative or at least had some powerful CIA protection. To say he was just a strip club operator with mob contacts misses the whole point. Do you really trust what we've been officially told about Ruby?
As Castro and his growing number of rebels were attacking Batista's troops, Ruby was commuting between Dallas and the Houston waterfront community of Kemah, TX. James E. Beaird, a poker playing friend of Ruby's, told both The Dallas Morning News and the FBI that Ruby used to store guns and ammunition in a two-story house between the waterfront and railroad tracks in Kemah, TX., in Galveston Bay. On the weekends Beaird personally saw Ruby and his associates load "many boxes of new guns, including automatic rifles and handguns" onto a 50-foot long military-surplus boat. It was Robert McKeown who often piloted the boat to a drop-off point in Mexico, where Castro himself would land his yacht, the Granma, and pick up the arms. As McKeown delivered more and more arms to Castro, these two men developed a close, personal relationship. Their relationship became so close that shortly after Castro took over in Cuba he flew to Houston, TX and met with McKeown in an attempt to persuade his good friend to return to Cuba. Castro promised McKeown that he would be given a high government position or a business concession. When later questioned about Ruby's gun-running activities in Galveston Bay, Beaird said "many people knew all about this because he (Ruby) was so open with it." But unlike Prio, McKeown, and dozens of other people who supplied arms to Castro, Jack Ruby was never charged, indicted nor even questioned by US government authorities. Ruby appeared to have no fear of being arrested for his gun-running activities from 1952 through 1963. Not only did US government agencies overlook Ruby's illegal gun-running activities, but so did the Warren Commission, HSCA, the Church Committee, and the ARRB.

The WC didn't even admit to his mob ties, Jim. And of course I'm fully aware of Ruby's background and activities. The question is: is it credible that he would be invited to D.C. to pose for a picture with a US Senator and a Vice President? Did Dave Ferrie or David Sanchez Morales or anyone else at that level ever pose for a photo with a Senator or Vice President? Did Nixon ever allow himself to be photographed with E. Howard Hunt? No, because they're not friggin' morons.

Sure, but stuff happens. We have, assuming it is genuine, a sworn statement from 1947 saying "Jack Rubenstein of Chicago... is performing information functions for the staff of Cong. Richard M. Nixon," and to find a photo of the two men in close proximity shouldn't come as a shock. Perhaps your objections explain why we have two very similar photos, one with, and one without, someone who looks, at least to me, a whole lot like Jack Ruby.

Who do you think is in the photo between Nixon and Bush?

In 1982 Nixon told his former aide Roger Stone, "The damn thing is, I knew this Jack Ruby. Murray [Chotiner] brought him to me in 1947, said he was one of 'Johnson's boys' and that LBJ wanted us to hire him as an informant to the Committee. We did." [From Stone's book, The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ]

According to Mickey Cohen ("In My Own Words") in 1946 Chotiner became a consultant on Richard Nixon's campaign staff and in 1950 arranged a fund raising dinner for Nixon's Senatorial Campaign from members of Lansky's syndicate. [Mickey Cohen, In My Own Words, 1975]

According to the Warren Commission, on Oct 7, 1955 "Lee HARVEY Oswald" delivered a note to Warren Easton High School that said: "Becaus [sic] we are moving to San Diego in the middle of this month Lee must quit school now."

Years later, Texas Employment Commission employee Laura Kittrell, daughter of the former secretary of the Texas Democratic Party, said she met "Lee HARVEY Oswald" in October 1963. When Oswald overheard her talking to a woman he asked, "Didn't I hear that colored woman tell you that she had worked in California for Murray Chotiner?" Though he would later deny it, Oswald's subsequent behavior made Ms. Kittrell think that Oswald knew Chotiner, and several days later Oswald referred to him as a "crook." Laura's first impression of Oswald caused her to write a notation on his application that he used to work for Chotiner in California. Laura filled out an application for Oswald, for temporary warehouse work, and mistakenly wrote on the bottom of the application, "Worked 6 months for the Murray Chotiner Investment Company .... .in 1956 (Laura forgot that Oswald told her that he had not worked for Chotiner)."

In the 1970s Chotiner was named as special counsel for the Committee to Re-Elect the President (CREEP) and also worked in the "dirty tricks" department with Marvin Liebman and William R Buckley.

I can imagine a hustler like Ruby photo-bombing a VP, or even a Senator, given the opportunity, but Tracy has a point. Why would Nixon or Bush invite Ruby to such an event?

Also, to me, the hat guy's nose and earlobes look different. They say the nose and the earlobes keep growing as you age, however. Maybe when someone visits the Dodd Collection we'll get a guest list to the "Hats for Senators" event.

I've been trying to figure that out. He doesn't appear to be any of the Senators from that time. One possibility is J. Mark Trice, GOP Secretary of the Senate 1953-55, but I can only find a couple of photos of him.

Drew... Is there enough in the hat photo to do any kind of biometric comparison with known shots of Ruby?

Tracy... There's no evidence I know of that the guy in the hat was Ruby other than that it sure looks like him, at least to me. I can't agree at all with your observation that he's an older man than Ruby.

It's Ruby.

In 1947 Ruby did not have the context he does now.

The question should be why isn't he named in the caption? (Because he's radioactive Jack Ruby)

Why, Albert? Why would Ruby be in Washington DC with a bunch of freshman Senators and the new Vice President? For what possible reason?
This is an issue of just basic common sense. This wasn't a candid paparazzi photo, as is so common today. It was a posed shot (there are actually two photos; this guy is only in the background of one of them).

Infiltration of the 5th column by the Nixon-oriented McCarthy crew...

Fluid implementation of Operation UNDERWORLD in the era of CIA.

Well, okay! I hadn't thought of that one...
