When I had that discussion with a few of the "Israel killed JFK cause of the nukes situation" BS I did a bit of research and everything that I've read suggests that Israel and the French were doing this behind the USA's back and against their wishes.
The assumption was, if Israel gets nukes, the Arab nations will do everything in their power to get one too and off we go again...
All this was happening while Ike was in office - late 50's. Dec 13, 1960 I guess is still lame duck period but all this started back in '56

No, Israel didn't. Much the same people who killed JFK gave it to Israel in late 1960, presumably to put the kibosh on non-proliferation.
Arabic-language broadcasts by Soviet radio stated as much at the time, and found endorsement, among other unexpected places, in the London Times, which commented that it doubtless seemed a good idea to blame the French.
One of the key public figures in the cover-up was the outgoing AEC chairman, one John A. McCone.

Please remove the ear wax, and step away from the canister. No one in the Bay of Pigs including CIA had access to Nukes in 1960-61.

By the way it was France who helped support Israel in their FIRST ever nuke in 1966. This was AFTER Kennedy's assassination.

In 1960-61 Israel did have a reactor in place, however, it was underway for testing, they were not in procession of enriched uranium and their reactor was not functional, it took years to gather the resources Israel needed to build its nukes. By 1966 and with the help from France, Israel was able to secure it's first nuke. Hope that helps.

I think the second and third documents refer to a much smaller reactor near Dimona that the USA actually helped fund. But only because the size specifications precluded it being used to create weapons grade plutonium.
Mattson talks about this in his book, how Israel refused it at first, but Dr. Bergmann later agreed to its use. And it was used as a cover for the joint company ISORAD. This aided in the cover up of the U 235 shipments.

Interesting concept, however, it would have been much harder to build a nuke from plutonium then uranium, thus it would have taken israel much longer to manufacturer. Certainly, it would not have been discoved in 1966.

This is why Hadden, in his report to Duckett wrote that he felt that Israel had jumpstarted its program by heisting the U 235 from Apollo.
