For me the question is why didn't the bullet that struck the president in the back penetrate. The wound was consistent with a 6.5 cal. bullet. The 6.5 Manlicher Carcano bullet is a FMJ penetrating bullet. I have always thought that the Dal Tex shooter would have been the best shooter because that position afforded the clearest shot for the longest duration of time. So I doubt he would have been using an inferior weapon such as the one found on the 6th floor. The optimum shot given the plan to implicate Qswald would have been just after the limo had finished it's turn onto Elm St., before it began to resume speed. Kennedy's back would be to the Dal Tex and also consistent with a trajectory from the TSBD. If a shot happened at that time(and there is some conjecture that one did) then it missed. .

And was there not also found evidence of a sabot in a casing found on the roof of the County Records Building in the '70's. I saw it in Marrs:
Marrs writes on 317:
Dean Morgan of Lewisville (a suburb of Dallas) told Texas researchers
that in 1975 his father was working on air-conditioning equipment on the
roof of the Dallas County Records Building located just catercorner from
the Texas School Book Depository. The Records Building's west side faces
onto Dealey Plaza and there is a waist-high parapet along the edge of its
roof.
According to Morgan, his father discovered a 30.06-caliber shell casing lying
under a lip of roofing tar at the base of the roof's parapet on the side facing
Dealey Plaza while searching for water leaks.
The shell casing is dated 1953 and marks indicate it was manufactured at
the Twin Cities Arsenal. One side has been pitted by exposure to the
weather, indicating it lay on the roof for a long time. The casing, which remains
in Morgan's possession, has an odd crimp around its neck.
Rifle experts have explained to Morgan that this is evidence that a sabot
may have been used to fire ammunition from a 30.06 rifle. A sabot is a plastic
sleeve that allows a larger-caliber weapon to fire a smaller-caliber slug.
The results of using a lighter-weight slug include increased velocity producing
more accuracy and greater striking power. And the smaller slug exhibits
the ballistics of the weapon it was originally fired from, rather than, in this
case, the 30.06, as the sabot engages the 30.06's rifling.98

Decker had a crackshot rifleman---Harry Weatherford--on top of the Dallas County Jail Building during the motorcade, close by Oswald's alleged sniper's nest. A young researcher tried to talk to Weatherford once and asked if he had shot at Kennedy. Weatherford's response was: "You little son-of-a-bitch, I kill lots of people."
