" it shouldn't take more than a few hours. HTTrack is a very good programme and I've used it on other sites to preserve research and information. Highly recommend it. Suitable for Windows, Mac and Linux.
Edit: It only downloads the public pages that are searchable. But that's all you want anyway. Or would know about. It doesn't download any private pages/sections or things like PMs etc"

Thanks I have been at it for about 30 hours so far so i have no idea how much its downloading this computer is new so I would assume it has the horsepower.

perhaps i am downloading the whole site I did supply the url just for the JFK forum first page.

should be interesting to see how far this goes. Perhaps i am downloading the whole internet. LOL

this archive of the JFK part would be invaluable to people in the future. Even with all the strife. Unfortunately many of the attachments, photos, etc, i think have been deleted. But i spent many years reading there and it has been great. This forum as well.

Magda, Out of curiosity, with HHTrack how long did it take?
I think that depends on the specs of your computer and what other programmes you might use while it is working. The more recent your CPU and larger the memory your computer has the quicker it will be. It took me quite a while to download (2 days) but then I had an ancient computer with only 2GB memory and an old Celeron CPU. Plus I was still abusing my computer having several, usually 10 or more, pages open and other downloads and streaming, telephony etc. I also ended up downloading the whole of the forum accidentally and not just the JFK section. So I didn't want to interupt it once it got going and I realised. If you have a recent computer and just want the JFK section and maybe a couple of others it shouldn't take more than a few hours. HTTrack is a very good programme and I've used it on other sites to preserve research and information. Highly recommend it. Suitable for Windows, Mac and Linux.

I've used the program many times. The only real trick is the 'depth' setting[s]....that will make a big difference in what it downloads - and the correct setting depends on how the website in question is designed. Along with the speed of your CPU and Memory, it will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. I usually can download a large site overnight...but a few large sites have taken days. It allows stopping and picking up where you left off...if you set the right parameters...otherwise it will start over each time. Make sure you have lots of disk space. Magda, how large was the file?

Originally I think it was around 10-12 GB but I compressed it to around 1 GB I think. But that was for the whole website not just the JFK section. But even though you can compress it later you need the space available for the initial download.

I lol'd when I read that. It's true. But maybe give the boomers some credit too. 70+% of them don't believe the official story either.

A related area writers sometimes raise is authentication or the chain-of-custody. There is no way to authenticate so many exhibits in this case. Thus, they would be inadmissible as evidence against Oswald. Hell, even Kennedy's brain can't be authenticated. It vanished.

Super-lawyer Bugliosi aside, LHO would walk if I were a juror on his case. I might consider a conspiracy count against him. But homicide? No way. The prosecution's case was screwed up from the beginning.

They think Garrison's case was a mess? Too bad they never got a chance to prosecute Oswald. That would have been a circus that made Garrison's case look prudent and cautious by comparison.

Yes Mr Ellis, I would agree that the percentage of US citizens born between 1946 and 1964 that believe the LHO Lone Gunman story is less than 3 out of 10, JMO.
Looking back now, as far as a trial for LHO as an accused assassin, I have to wonder about the quality of the defense's case. I mean, who would his attorney be, and how hard would that attorney try for a not guilty verdict? In any event, a multi-ring circus!

Yeah, and as always, who's the judge? But with a reasonable jury and all the problems in the prosecutor's case - authentication and otherwise - if the case had been tried on the merits -- LHO should have walked or at most, gone down on a conspiracy...or maybe even an accessory rap. That's all.

The way I see it is Horne and Crenshaw have pretty much put the correct intepretation to the head wounds. Speer and Von Pein are just taking advantage of the conflicts that arise by giving credibility to the results of the wound alteration. However once the Bethesda pre-autopsy is placed in correct context it solves everything. Speer and Von Pein ignore it.

How many times was JFK shot in the head?

Once? Twice? Thrice?

Was there pre-autopsy surgery to the head?

Lots of reasons to believe so but we still don't know who did it where or when, if it happened at all.

&So research into the medical evidence has all the air sucked out of it by a study of unknowable things, paying relatively little attention to the back and throat wounds which are eminently knowable.

Strange hobby, is the best I can say of the head wound(s?) research.

Hi cuz. I don't post that much either. Nice to meet you though.

I think John Simkin mis-estimated the degree with which we Yanks take this JFK shit personally,
and the central part rancor plays in our national discourse.

Not to blame John at all. Who wants to spend all their time bucking the headwinds of the Great American Male Ego?

I think John Simkin over-estimates the value of JFK assassination research -- we (I) rubbish other peoples' research because it is rubbish!

I don't spare myself from the accusation of havin' written reams of inconsequential rubbish in the past.

Not on Deep Politics Forum however!

Over here I'm gold!
