Was Jonestown a CIA medical experiment? - Dawn Meredith - 08-05-2013

Anthony Thorne Wrote:I borrowed the Meiers book via interlibrary loan here in Australia (total copies available throughout the country - one) and photocopied it in its entirety for personal reference a few months back. It's a remarkable volume and really needs to be read and dissected by more researchers. The lengthy section where Meiers deals with the involvement of Mark Lane is particularly eye-opening. Jonestown is a deep event if there ever was one, and it would be quite something to read the full story of the event via some unredacted secret internal CIA report that put the whole event into context - not that such a report will ever appear. The Meiers book is the next best thing though and it's another chapter of America's deeply bizarre and sinister secret history.

Can you briefly give us the rundown on Lane. I have always been deeply troubled by his presence there. That he too was not killed added to the fire.

Thanks,
Dawn

Yes, Lane is such an intruiging aspect of the Jonestown event.

Meiers offers his thoughts on Lane in a compelling closing section where he (Meiers) runs through all the Jonestown-related literature available to that date, and offers lengthy thoughts on each book. (I'll return to my photocopied copy to list the correct titles but Meiers points out at least one well-written Jonestown study where he suspects the author deduced the CIA connection to the massacre but remained cautious about being explicit on the subject, and another - RAVEN, an acclaimed Jim Jones bio - where Meiers argues the two co-authors sang their best Mockingbird tunes and deliberately steered the study away from a lot of explicit CIA-related evidence). Recounting from memory (I'd hoped to type out the actual section from the book but am sadly short of time) Meiers suggests Lane's retelling of his involvement THE STRONGEST POISON is okay as a literate account of what Lane saw and heard, but ignores (a.) Lane's own personal relationship with a Jonestown-related figure who may have steered ML in various ways, and (b.) doesn't discuss at all what Meiers thinks was the real reason Lane was dragged into the Jonestown saga - to 'set him up' as a figure publically supportive of the cult prior to the tragedy, place him at the scene when the event reached its climax, and then awkwardly/suspiciously leave him as one of the few survivors, diminishing Lane personally and professionally at the very point he was giving testimony and evidence as part of the House Select Committee on Assassinations. Meiers offers a timeline and has Lane leaving an HSCA meeting to visit Jonestown, with some later HSCA appointments booked (and then cancelled) for the following week. The section on Lane's book is quite long and probably offers a more subtle argument than the one I've condensed above, but Meiers believes the timing adjacent to Lane's HSCA activities was important, and fits with what was a long history of vicious and cynical machinations on the part of the Jonestown plotters (i.e Jones, his controllers and cohorts) in the years, months and days leading up to the massacre.

When the massacre occurred at Jonestown, the CIA station chief in Guyana's capital, Georgetown, was James Adkins, who subsequently came a cropper in the Iran-Contra affair. It was Adkins who sat up all night with a radio, trying to find out what had happened. Eventually, he made contact with the Temple's Odell Rhodes, who had escaped from Jonestown to the police station in nearby Matthews Ridge. After talking with Rhodes and learning of the many deaths, Adkins notified the U.S. ambassador and, moments later, CIA headquarters.

Remarkably, JONESTOWN author Meiers has returned with a new book that continues his research into CIA medical experiments and black operations. In his introduction to the book, Meiers mentions that former CIA director William Colby died the day after Meiers spoke with him - an event which led to the author keeping a low profile for the next decade and a half.

Meier's new book is available now in both paperback and Kindle editions. A paperback edition of his Jonestown book is now listed on Amazon as well.

Anthony, does the author seek to connect Jim Jones and Jonestown to the creation of the Aids virus? I'm just curious? I have continued to believe that Aids to have been a US black op for a couple of decades now, after doing some research on it back in the 1990's. The whole Michael Riconsciuto story connects to this, as I recall.

David, I haven't yet read Meier's new book, only his first volume on Jonestown, but I think the answer to your question is yes. The Jonestown book makes references to both AIDS and MK-Ultra but paints a convincing overall picture of black op CIA activity without nailing all the specifics. I think the new book extends the research and the overall argument, and is what Meiers was discussing with Colby just before the latter was whacked. Meier's new book would probably make an interesting read with the below volume by Donald Scott and his son William Scott- the latter two authors spoke at a JFK conference alongside Peter Dale Scott (no relation) and placed AIDS under the umbrella of CIA black operations in their talk. I have a prior volume by William Scott ('The Extremely Unfortunate Skull Valley Incident') that leads into the book linked below, and found it to be methodically argued and convincing.

Does Anthony or anyone had a pdf or word copy of Meiers first book? I can read it through my library but its only online and its difficult to navigate that book, IM about 2/3rds done with it but I wanted a copy to look through while im reading the Second Holocaust..... I agree with the criticisms of the second but reading both together has been mindblowing.... Also are there any interviews on youtube that Meiers has done??? Thanks..

Was Jonestown a CIA medical experiment? - R.K. Locke - 19-08-2015

Do these books make the argument that the AIDS virus is real? Because I've read/heard a few interviews where people have said that there is basically no such thing and it was the drugs that was killing people. I haven't researched the topic anywhere near enough to buy into that idea at this point but it was certainly an interesting hypothesis.
