I would point out that this particular lawyer has saved many high-profile client's lives. Like the Unabomber.
The good news is, we're gonna get to see the state's case anyhow. Unlike some of the folks you mentioned.

I guess the lawyer's strategy is to save the life of Tsarnaev, rather than try to prove him innocent of the charges with the consequential chance that the death penalty will be given if his client is found guilty.
But it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
It is evident from the numerous preceding pages in this thread that a stitch up has occurred and that the Boston bombing was almost certainly another domestic false flag event - like 9/11.
My guess is that the prosecution's evidence is going to be really very tight and focused and that none of us will be shocked by revelations that point anywhere other than what the government wishes to be known.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the government to explain why a number of actors with missing limbs (the guy with the missing lower leg in the wheelchair, no blood or tissue evident, no burns etc) - plus other players were used as stage props. And why the official participation in the marathon of backpack toting members of Craft International? That's never been addressed either.

This "trial" reminds me of the "non trial" that was afforded Sirhan. Defense, in both cases, concede guilt and are focusing solely on saving Tsarnaev's life. And the legal talking heads I saw on tv last night all agreed that this was the only competent legal approach. CONCEDE GUILT. For shame. ( I have not followed the trial as I knew it would not even be remotely the truth. I emailed his head lawyer when she was first named with some of the problems this case had, but I doubted any of it would be addressed.)

Yes, just like James Earl Ray, Sirhan Sirhan, Tim McVeigh, etc, the defense attorney will start out stipulating the suspect's guilt, so the government won't have to prove any of that. It will just be a question of sanity/motivation/punishment.

Is there anything other than malpractice that would summarize the defense in this case? I mean is it conceivable that a lawyer representing her client could do this in good faith?

I am willing to hold out a slight bit of hope for the defense, to the degree that they introduce the problematic evidence in the sentencing part of the trial. Not much hope of that.

I was hoping for something way more in depth on this travesty. Russ barely scratched the surface in this piece.
