terrrrrrific job, Jim!

Good-bye Dave Reitzes... - Tracy Riddle - 03-10-2013

Jim, you might want to make a little correction and add the name Delphine so newbies will know who "Roberts" is.

Good-bye Dave Reitzes... - Tracy Riddle - 03-10-2013

Oh, and Mr. Reitzes, if you're reading this - the first conspiracy theory was put out by CIA-connected people. As Gerald McKnight writes, in regard to the early leaking of stories to the press about Castro being behind the assassination: "The unappreciated irony in this whole business was that the first JFK conspiracy theory to find its way into print was paid for by George E. Joannides, a CIA psychological warfare specialist."

Let's take a closer look at Dave Reitzes' posts of the last few months.

According to the results a DejaNews "power search," posts made to
alt.conspiracy.jfk by Dave Reitzes as drei...@aol.com totalled "about
15,000." Posts made by Dave Reitzes as ERX...@prodigy.com SINCE JUST BEFORE
LAST CHRISTMAS totalled "about 14,000" posts. Since DejaNews breaks up long
posts and counts them as multiple instances, these numbers are too high.
Nevertheless, they are astronomical, and represent abuse of Usenet.

But don't take my word for it. There is a long-established newsgroup devoted
to the very topic of spamming and net abuse, and Dave Reitzes is a real
fixture there. In just the last two months of 1998, his name appears on 19
different news.admin.net-abuse hit lists. Here are the DejaNews summaries:

You can easily duplicate these searches yourself to see what I mean.

Switching over to Prodigy on the account of "Marc Reitzes," Dave Reitzes has
also been fingered by news.admin.net-abuse three times since Christmas. Here
are those DejaNews summaries:

One last thing. Does anyone really think all this abuse is being generated by
just one guy?

Here is some more information on Reitzes' listings in
news.admin.net-abuse.usenet from the "Usenet Posting Summary Daemon Process."
These lists are generated daily. Below is the introduction, and Dave/Marc
Reitzes' listing for January 6, 1999. Reitzes also made 21 other similar
lists during the past 60 days or so.

This data has been gathered by sol.net Network Services as part of an
ongoing project to monitor Usenet trends and abuse.

The data presented in this report is generated from data gathered by
the DSRS Posting Research Service. Access to this service is free
and is available to any individual or organization involved in the
fight against Usenet abuse, including spam cancellers, Kenny-killers,
ISP abuse desks, and Usenet administrators. It is not a free news-
reading service. Please visit the URL http://dsrs.nntp.sol.net for
more details.

There are currently two items scanned:

1) "From:" header
2) "NNTP-Posting-Host:" header, if present

All articles sharing the same header (i.e. all articles with a
"From:" header of "u...@dsrs.nntp.sol.net") are counted together, with
a summary of the number of posts, bytes posted, and BI. Only
articles that have a BI of 20 or greater are summarized.

Please remember that BI is a general formula to measure the
number of groups posted to in a manner which favors crossposting.
The fact that the posts of a single poster may have a BI of 20
does not imply that the articles are spam, as each article may
have been completely different and unrelated.

The Al Geiersbach "Duh, I Still Don't Get It" Paragraph:

For the completely dense among us, who are unable to grasp the
obvious, that means that this isn't a "spam list". It also does
not mean that your posts are being cancelled, filtered, or anything
else... on the other hand, it doesn't mean that they're not. This
service merely counts 'em.

(A memorial to a dunce who just refused to "get it" even after it
was explained to him in excruciating detail, repeatedly, over the
period of about a year. It's still not a spam report, Al, even if
you desperately want to think so.)

Automated data gathering mechanisms have collected the data presented
in this report.

While this information is considered to be relatively reliable, it
should be noted that problems do occur and the data gathered and
reported might not actually represent an accurate picture of reality.

#include <bsd_disclaimer.h>

This information is provided by the author "as is" and any express
or implied warranties, including, but not limited to, the implied
warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
are disclaimed. In no event shall the author be liable for any
direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential
damages (including, but not limited to, procurement of substitute
goods or services; loss of use, data, or profits; or business
interruption) however caused and on any theory of liability, whether
in contract, strict liability, or tort (including negligence or
otherwise) arising in any way out of the use of this information,
even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

And so on, and so forth. Now, here's the music.

Good-bye Dave Reitzes... - Tracy Riddle - 04-10-2013

The last time I looked at alt.conspiracy.jfk it had been completely taken over by a bunch of nasty trolls.

Their (lack of) character is on constant display for the world to see when they employ these tactics.
