Good PBS segment - Drew Phipps - 07-06-2014

I've grown accustomed to seeing PBS parrot Koch-sponsored propaganda bits, but this PBS one is worth a look. It's about taxation (keep reading) but it goes into why and how the corporations have an unequal impact on politics and life in general.

It seems that there are in fact voices of reason out there and occasionally they get some media love.

"Economist Joseph E. Stiglitz says corporate tax abuse has helped make America unequal and undemocratic. But the Nobel Prize-winner has a plan to change that."

Stiglitz is great and good to see him get some coverage. Especially since PBS has gone to the dark side. Or at least likes to visit it now. But I am waiting to see Thomas Piketty get any coverage on the MSM. His work is dynamite and has comprehensively blown apart every neo-con myth and sacred cow. While he has had some coverage and debates in the financial news like Bloomberg most people don't read that. I'm just waiting for it to trickle down. They are trying but is work cannot be debunked. It just cold hard numbers. Not theory. Ouch! Piketty wants an 80% income tax bracket AND 2% of your accumulated assets per year.

Not mine and probably not yours either. And if I were earning mega bucks I could afford it. It wont make a dent in those people's lifestyles.

One thing you never see economists who offer solutions discuss is how their full employment scenario will play out environmentally.

These theorists always deal from the delusional perspective of unlimited environmental resources.

I'd say full employment is a thing of the past. We need a whole new definition of 'work' and 'income'. And we definitely need a new economics which places the environment center stage.
