Is this correct? Summer '63, Wasp in port at NO and Oswald stood on the pier and leafletted the sailors coming off the ship to go on liberty? I assume if true, the leaflets were of the "Hands Off Cuba, Viva Fidel" type.

Just checking here, working on a theory.

Yes. This was Oswald's first attempt to pick a fight over his "pro-Castro position." He had acquired the leaflets, and the stamp kit used to mark them, a few days before.

All part of the Banister provocateur work. Those leaflets would be worth a pretty penny now.

Here's the part that puzzles me: Why didn't the sailors and marines arriving on the pier pound Oswald into jelly and throw him into the bay? He was trying to pass out "COMMUNIST" Pro Castro material, for crying out loud!

Banister thought he was going to get a positive response from these guys??? Puhleeeez.::facepalm::

I would hazard a guess that the activity was intended to produce a whupping and attract media attention, allowing Oswald to build his street cred as a pro-Castro guy.

Just like they did with the Bringuier group.
