The Hopi legend of the blue star - Drew Phipps - 13-12-2014 According to Hopi legend, a blue star in the heavens will foretell the end of Hopi "ceremonialism," and also some sort of large scale catastrophe, and the return of the Kachina (the legendary non-human teachers of the Hopi). Interestingly, there is a chance that a celestial event might actually produce a "blue star". There are two supermassive blue stars (38 and 36 solar masses respectively) orbiting each other so closely that their surfaces actually touch... which means they are inexorably going to collide. Scientists are not certain what sort of fireworks this might produce, or when it might happen, but it is "soon" (at least on an astronomical scale). The stars are 13,000 light years away. Here is an article about the stars. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/11/blue-stars-supermassive-sun_n_6303214.html Here is a wiki about the Blue Star Kachina with links for more articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Star_Kachina |
