Twitter Pulls the Plug on Politwoops & Diplotwoops - David Guyatt - 25-08-2015
Orwell really did see the future...
A completely disgraceful decision by Twitter, proving that they operate a two-tier system aimed at protecting the political establishment and status quo.

BETHANY CLARKE/GETTY IMAGES Twitter shut down politician tweet-archiving network Politwoops in 30 countries over the weekend.
Twitter has gotten rid of Politwoops worldwide.
Over the weekend, Twitter shut down the network of sites that archived every deleted tweet from politicians and diplomats in 30 countries. Diplotwoops and Politwoops, which were operated by Open State Foundation, were running in Australia, Canada, Egypt, France and the U.K., among other countries.
Twitter suspended API access to the sites after it followed a "thoughtful internal deliberation and close consideration of a number of factors." It wrote to OSF on Friday with a detailed message saying the social network didn't distinguish between politicians and regular users, according to the foundation.
"Imagine how nerve-racking terrifying, even tweeting would be if it was immutable and irrevocable?" Twitter wrote. "No one user is more deserving of that ability than another. Indeed, deleting a tweet is an expression of the user's voice."
Twitter had previously suspended API access to Politwoops in the U.S. in May. However, OSF kept the network running in other nations.
Politwoops used to be cited extensively by journalists around the world when it came to reporting on politics.
