Operation Gladio: The Unholy Alliance between The Vatican, The CIA, and the Mafia - Lauren Johnson - 06-02-2016

by Paul L. Williams, Prometheus Books (2015)

I am only 20% through the book, but it covers a much larger terrain than Ganser's book. So far I highly recommend it. If anybody else has read it I would appreciate any thoughts. His ax to grind is that he is or was a devout Catholic who has been deeply wounded by what he has learned. Having said that, the book is not an anti-Vatican screed by any means. Most of what he does is pulling together secondary sources into a tight narrative. He talks about the original research he has done, but I have not seen that as yet. His portrayal of the Vatican Bank is about as dark as one could imagine. Nice to see him site David Guyatt in his article "Holy Smoke and Mirrors". And yes there are 51 pages of end notes and an Index!

Sounds very interesting. I can understand him having axes to grind Catholic or not. We've all had our government undermined and captured and used against us. Murder and mayhem along the way. Ends justifying means. For some.

Operation Gladio: The Unholy Alliance between The Vatican, The CIA, and the Mafia - Anthony Thorne - 08-02-2016

I hadn't heard of Williams until I saw his Gladio book listed on Amazon. I have yet to read it, but noticed that it quickly gathered more positive reviews than Ganser or Cottrell's books. A lot more. Scrolling back through the author's previous output, he has quite a series of works on offer. See if you can detect a trend with the accompanying synopsis.

In 2004, he wrote OSAMA'S REVENGE: THE NEXT 9/11: WHAT THE MEDIA AND GOVERNMENT HAVEN'T TOLD YOU

Quote:The plot outlined in this lurid exposé is a frightening one: Osama bin Laden has nuclear weaponslots of themand is preparing to use them to create "an American Hiroshima." Williams, a journalist, former FBI consultant and author of The Vatican Exposed: Money, Murder and the Mafia, contends that bin Laden has purchased of dozens low-yield Russian "suitcase" atomic bombs and gotten his hands on enough weapons-grade uranium to build Hiroshima-sized 10-kiloton devices, and that one nuclear device may already have been smuggled into America. Contrary to the subtitle, Williams relies heavily on media reports to flesh out the arch-terrorist's nuclear intrigues, detailing bin Laden's lucrative heroin trafficking operations, his ties to the Chechen mafia and to Pakistani nuclear scientists, and his network of thousands of sleeper agents in the United States. He criticizes the Clinton and Bush administrations for inept attempts to apprehend bin Laden, but offers little advice on what to do. As if to heighten readers' anxiety, Clark reprints several al-Qaeda manifestoes calling down destruction on America and includes a lengthy treatise on the devastation an atom bomb would wreak on lower Manhattan. He doesn't tie up all the loose ends in this hasty treatment; on the question of why, if it has nukes, al-Qaeda hasn't yet used them, he can only assume that bin Laden is patiently awaiting the perfect moment for a multiple-target strike. But after 9/11, alarmist scenarios have to be taken seriously, and the disquieting evidence Clark has amassed provides a useful reminder of the gravest threat in the war on terror.

In 2005 he wrote CRESCENT MOON RISING: THE ISLAMIC TRANSFORMATION OF AMERICA

Quote:Forty years ago, Muslims in America were a statistically insignificant minority, numbering fewer than one thousand individuals. By contrast, Islam is today the second-largest and fastest growing religion in America, with more than six million adherents.

In Crescent Moon Rising, journalist Paul L. Williams examines the phenomenal rise of Islam in the United States and discusses its implications.

In the first half of the book, the author traces the beginnings of Islam in this country, in particular the rise and influence of the Nation of Islam among African Americans. He emphasizes the impact of the 1965 Hart-Cellar Act, which abolished national-origin quotas and led to successive waves of Muslim immigrants, who entered this country from Palestine, Kuwait, Iraq, Southeast Asia, Africa, Turkey, and other parts of the world.

In the second half, Williams considers statistical studies of American Muslims regarding age groups, family size, professional affiliations, annual income, and religious and political commitments. He also addresses a number of disturbing concerns about some aspects of the Muslim presence in America. These include: the connections between many American mosques with Saudi benefactors who promote an ultra-orthodox, anti-Western agenda; the existence of Muslim paramilitary training grounds recruiting ex-convicts; and the ties of even self-described moderate Muslim spokespersons with more politically radical elements.

Informative and at times controversial, Crescent Moon Rising clearly shows that Islam will be a force to reckon with for some time in America.

in 2007 he released THE DAY OF ISLAM: THE ANNIHILATION OF AMERICA AND THE WESTERN WORLD

Quote:In two previous books, Osama's Revenge and The Al Qaeda Connection, seasoned investigative reporter Paul Williams revealed the alarming potential for nuclear terrorism on U.S. soil and the sinister connections among organized crime, illegal immigrants, and al Qaeda. Now, Williams broadens his focus beyond al Qaeda to provide readers with newly uncovered information on terrorist activities in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, other Muslim countries--and our neighbor Canada! What emerges is a harrowing picture of international terrorist activities, all aimed at the destruction of the United States and the collapse of the Western world. This cataclysm will usher in "the Day of Islam," the dream of radical Muslims to see all of humankind fall in submission before the throne of Allah.Based on the "forgotten testimony" of the FBI's "Confidential Source One," as well as other sources, Williams first presents evidence of Osama Bin Laden's purchase of highly enriched uranium in Sudan and nuclear devices from the Chechens and the Russian Mafia. He then offers further information on the workings of Pakistani scientists and technicians from the A. Q. Khan Research Facility to maintain and upgrade al Qaeda's "bespoke nukes" (with explosive yields in excess of ten kilotons) for the "American Hiroshima." This information comes with empirical proof that should dispel any doubts that these weapons not only have been developed but have also been forward-deployed from the seaport at Karachi to strategic locations within the Western world.Keeping the focus on Pakistan, he predicts a nightmarish scenario if President Pervez Musharref should be overthrown and his arsenal of sixty-eight nuclear weapons falls into the hands of radical mullahs. Williams also examines the role of the Iranians both in sponsoring terrorism and in planning the American Hiroshima. In addition, he uncovers many unreported and startling accounts of the terrorist activities of Hezbollah in America and presents evidence that the marriage between Hezbollah and al Qaeda has been consummated. Finally, he presents intelligence showing that grave threats to America come, not from just our southern border, but from Canada and its amazingly open policies regarding radical Islam. The greatest threat of all, he concludes, comes from within --not only from the radical mosques within every major American city but also the Islamic paramilitary compounds in rural areas throughout the country, including Islamberg in New York State, where new recruits are trained for the great jihad against the United States under the very nose of FBI and Homeland Security officials. Sure to be controversial, this shocking exposé sends a wake-up to Americans lulled into a false sense of security in the post-9/11 era.

Williams has made a career out of pointing the finger away from Western intelligence, and towards other parties. I have some interest in his Gladio book, but I'm wary of it.

Yah, it has problems. First, it's mostly secondary sources -- lots of them and many of them very good.

He certainly does point the finger at the CIA/Vatican nexus. There are lots about Nazi ratlines, drug running, money laundering in the Vatican Bank, etc. Lots more.

BUT here's the clinker. It's all driven by the hatred of the Communism with the unstated conclusion that it was a sad and corrupting over-reaction. He leaves out (as far as I can tell) the inherent logic of the NWO and world domination using the Cold War as cover. The danger of the book is that it is a limited hangout.

It's certainly worth reading, at least from my perspective.
