Allen Dulles, the OSS, and Nazi War Criminals, by Kerstin von Lingen - Anthony Thorne - 21-02-2016

I hadn't heard of this book until recently. It's not cheap, but it may be of obvious interest to anyone who has read Talbot's DEVIL'S CHESSBOARD, or who has followed the story of the Nazis that were brought by Dulles to the US. As an academic volume board members might find library copies easier to locate rather than buying it.

Talk about expensive!...it had better be very good at that price!

It is inordinately expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a .pdf somewhere.

There is a review at H-Net Reviews, and it looks to me that much, if not most of the content is already available from various sources. Peter Dale Scott wrote but did not publish, a book that focused on on Operation Sunrise which was excellent. I had a copy on my old PC but the disk is damaged and I couldn't recover it. Maybe Peter has since published it?

I won't be shelling out that sum for the book any way.

Peter still has that material and sent me a few chapters last year, which I think I saved to a USB somewhere. They were in an odd pre-Word doc format that made reading difficult, but were clearly up to his usual standards of writing and research.

There's a copy of the von Lingen book at Melbourne library (not borrowable) so I'll check it when I'm next there. Carl Ogilvie also wrote a long book on the subject - A NAZI PEACE - which never was released, but the manuscript is stored with his research papers at the institute that holds all his stuff.

I believe Peter mentioned on Facebook that he had also completed a Watergate book (possibly recently) but was not able to interest a publisher. I'd buy one Peter.

There are copies of the von Lingen book for £29.99 in the used and new section on amazon.co.uk.

I too would be interested in Peter's Watergate book, by the way. Has he considered self-publishing?

No idea. Mark Crispin Miller published Peter's most recent JFK book as an ebook (DALLAS '63). I'm not sure if Mark is aware of the Watergate volume though.

Yes, that's the one Anthony, it was hard reading. Good to know it's not lost.

Another ridiculously expensive book on the subject is here.

[size=12]Nazi War Crimes, US Intelligence and Selective Prosecution at Nuremberg: Controversies Regarding the role of the Office of Strategic Services, by Michael Salter.
