Quote: Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs is barring its top employees from contributing to certain political campaigns including donating money to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, but not Hillary Clinton's. Politico first reported that the rule, effective Sept. 1st, bans donations to politicians running for state or local offices, as well as donations to state officials who are seeking federal office from the firm's 467 partners. Meaning, no donations for the Trump-Pence ticket, since Pence is the current governor of Indiana.

It also means there are no donating restrictions for the Clinton-Kaine ticket. Tim Kaine is a Senator for Virginia and, in Goldman's rule, is not considered a local official. The firm wrote in its memo to employees, "all failures to pre-clear political activities as outlined below are taken seriously and violations may result in disciplinary action." Trump's team is expected to question the timing of this.
