Richard Bartholomew's THE DEEP STATE IN THE HEART OF TEXAS - Anthony Thorne - 25-07-2018

I don't currently have time to investigate it further, but some might be interested to know that Richard Bartholomew's collection of writing on the JFK assassination has now been published in writing. Given the spate of okay to so-so volumes that have flooded out in the past few years, I had to laugh at the publisher's comment in the synopsis - "Not a simple Lyndon Johnson-did-it book...."

Bartholomew has worked with Barr McClellan, and appeared at a conference with JV Baker - neither of those two facts are hugely encouraging - but I remember reading a piece by Bartholomew elsewhere, being impressed with it, and making a mental note to watch out for when his book appears, so that said there will probably be a few things of interest in this book.

Back in the 1990's or early 2000's I recall reading a very long essay by him regarding an auto (Nash Rambler?) that was possibly used in the JFK assassination. He went into as much detail as he could at that time about the history of the car and the people known to be associated with it. He also went into how the people associated with the car were intertwined with many other people with very curious and suspect backgrounds, including people often associated with the assassination and other nefarious intelligence/business operations.

I believe it appeared in Probe, or the Third Decade, or some other publication like that. So there is a good chance it can still be found somewhere on the internet. Although it was quite lengthy, I thought it was very informative and was well worth reading.

I also have photos of the car in bad condition, rusting in a relative's of Tosh Plumlee backyard in the Dallas area generally. Sadly, the car was lost I believe. I believe it was the real deal and used in the assassination machinations. Its ownership, title and pedigree are strange beyond strange.

The main subject of this book I believe is obvious from the title, but I don't think it's a slam dunk that he'll be espousing the "LBJ did it" scenario. Until I've read it I can't really comment. However, from everything I've ever read by him I believe he holds the opinion that LBJ at the very least had advance knowledge of a plan to kill JFK. And of course would then be in the position after the fact to help direct the cover-up. Fellow Texan Dawn Meredith possibly could chip in and enlighten us as to his true viewpoint. And I agree with you Anthony that besides the McClellan and JVB things, the Mac Wallace fingerprints deal isn't encouraging either. I also agree that there most likely will be some worthwhile points and observations made. Although I read what he wrote about that Nash Rambler so very long ago, I do remember it giving me a lot of new facts at the time about how all these different people from intelligence/military/industry were closely associated. So on that basis alone I think he may have some new things to offer from a Texas-centric angle.

By the way, in the intervening years I've read that from photos taken in Dealey Plaza before and after the killing as many as 4 Ramblers can be spotted in the area. So I got Jim's comment about not understanding which car Bartholomew was talking about.

Also Jim, the printing of the essay I saw was in Fair Play. 20-30 years ago I read so many journals and ezines and quarterlies about the JFK assassination that it's hard for me to always remember correctly where I saw what.

And Peter, those links you provided were archived by a woman named Richards in Akron. The website was affiliated with the University of Akron and/or in conjunction with the Ohio Public Libraries System. The funding for it must've dried up since it's now defunct, which is really a shame because you used to be able to do research there on many other subjects besides JFK and his murder.

I think you are talking about Deannie Richards who used to have a newsletter on the subject.

It might have been reprinted in Fair Play but I am pretty sure it was in Third Decade also.

Yes it was stored at Tosh's daughter's place for several years, not far from where we live, but they could not keep it there so it was eventually taken to a lot for dead cars. No one had a place to keep it. The detail and connections in that piece were pretty amazing. I have told RB that it hurts his cred. to continue to speak at conferences hosted by Baker, to no avail.

We have lost so much physical evidence in this case - to loose this car because someone couldn't store it is a crying shame. Had they just asked around, I'm sure someone in the area would have stored it. I'll bet hours or days after it was brought to wherever it was brought, it was taken away and destroyed as was most of the physical evidence in the case [that wasn't altered]......a real shame on this - to store it so many decades, learn its bona fides, and then just abandon it is beyond me.....::pullhairout::
