The fight back starts.

Magda, the Discover article you linked presents several features of interest, not the least of which is its anonymity--no one actually wrote it.

Point the second, the hooting is deafening, but did Mr. Albarelli separate diethylamide from its place in the lysergic acid diethylamide identifier, or did the Telegraph--and why does it matter.

Did Mr. Albarelli make some 36-hour-delay claim, or is this a straw man.

Does LSD in fact produce the very type of suggestibility wherein if one complains of symptoms, many in the audience will as well.

Has not the vaunted Central Intelligence Agency specifically the glorious Sidney Gottlieb not admitted to having dosed the unwitting with the drug.

Brushing aside the sophomoric mockery, the scenario presented by Mr. Albarelli pales in comparison to the CIA animation of the center fuel tank of TWA Flight 800 causing that aircraft to separate into an air show to rival that of the Navy Blue Angels or the Air Force Thunderbirds.

I don't see anything funny about the covert use of psychotropics on citizens by government agencies--as in the case of Frank Olson and no doubt others.

I would appreciate any observations Mr. Albarelli may have as to the sudden depression of our first Secretary of Defense James Forrestal resulting in his plummet from that tower of horrors the Bethesda Naval Medical Center, home of Stage-Managed Autopsies R Us.

Phil, Mr. Albarelli says that James Forrestal was murdered in the same fashion as Olsen.

In today's Daily Mail there is a feature article about the LSD experiment in Pont-Saint Esprit written by Andrew Malone.

The whole style of the article is a classic MSM filter. Anyone not knowing about Gottleib and MKULTRA will come away with the impression, that this "evil genius" was engaged in a personal unauthorized experiment:

Quote:nstead, it seems they were targeted by a top secret, U.S. government programme to test new drugs as potential weapons against enemy populations. New evidence suggests that the bread was deliberately infected with LSD as part of a covert operation mounted by MKULTRA, a shadowy operation run by a renegade, alcoholic intelligence agent called Sidney Gottlieb.

Known as the Black Sorcerer, Gottlieb - whose favourite hobby was stomping round nightclub dance floors despite being born with a club foot - was an American military chemist put in charge of the U.S. government's secret mind control programme, which involved using drugs to kill and disable the enemy.

Some things are just too explosive to be spoken openly: Uncle Sam broke international law and human convention by engaging in cynical human experimentation in a foreign but allied nation.

real 'renegade' CIA and other three letter agencies are renegade for [at maximum] a few days to a few weeks, if lucky....when they've been 'renegade' for years and years, you can bet your bottom dollar they are APPROVED! [and protected]

Gottlieb was not an alcoholic, nor was he a renegade of any sort. Gottlieb had nothing to do with the French experiment: it was entirely operated by SOD at Camp Detrick and Artichoke Project at CIA. People of all stripes often confuse Artichoke and MK/ULTRA as being one and the same. They were not. MK/ULTRA was run by the Agency's TSS branch. Artichoke was run by the SRS of the Office of Security, CIA. There was friction between both these branches. Further, MK/ULTRA never replaced Artichoke as is commonly reported. Artichoke was operated independent of MK/ULTRA until around 1963 when it was renamed. Artichoke was actually considerably more horrifying than MK/ULTRA, and it had three essential components: (1) interrogation/torture; (2) mind-control and mind control research; and (3) assassinations. [I expect to have an extensive article on the Artichoke Project soon published on the Truthout.com site.]

Hank, did the Daily Mail interview you for this feature article? I'm quite happy to write a letter to that rag correcting their spin. I doubt it will be published, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I actually had a very nice conversation with the young reporter. He was quite intelligent and asked insightful questions. He was also over-worked and running from story to story. We talked 3 times before the interview because he got yanked away a few times to other priorities. When we talked it was on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm EST, not a time you'd find many American reporters at work. Reporting today is often a team process whereby editors jump in and 'sex' up stories. Plus it may be somebody else's
belief that Gottlieb possessed those qualities. I don't. I spoke with Gottlieb many times and he was always lucid, respectful, and generally honest with me. When he did not want to answer a question he told me so rather than dancing around. I was somewhat saddened when he passed away unexpectedly because I was to be on my way to meet with him the following weekend in Virginia. I had already packed a bag and was tight with anticipation. A face-to-face that was never to be...

The article Magna mentions and that Mr. Draggo asks about-- I never spoke with that publication; I made no claims at all, and they mis-characterized many things, and attributed quotes to people that said no such things. The 36-hour business came from an actual CIA document that covered a meeting with a Sandoz chemical company official. It was this official that actually stated quite clearly that ergot played no role in the Pont St Esprit incident and that it had been an EXPERIMENT. That and other documents, most of them cited in my book, confirmed my suspicions that the town had been the target of an experiment. Additionally, White House and Rockefeller Commission documents from 1975-76 speak of the same experiment. I was merely reporting on what I had read from all of these sources. I am quite happy that I put a few documents aside for the possible event that somebody needed more proof. One of these documents concerned an FBI report in 1950 whereby the FBI was concerned about NYC being targeted for an LSD experiment-- the Bureau was able to get the Army to postpone this planned experiment. In many ways it is all surreal, then and today. The truth is difficult to reckon with for a lot of folks.
