A Proposal For the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 - Henry Platsky - 23-09-2010
To introduce my proposal I want to describe my experience visiting NYC's
ground zero on 9/11/10. I was looking for a demonstration called by one
of the 9/11 groups at Liberty Plaza. When I got to the area Liberty St.
west of Broadway was completely off limits which made the proposed
demonstration impossible (it's a good idea to check with the police, espcially on a day like 9/11 when there will be all sorts of restrictions,
before calling a demo). While I passed thru the area I saw a handful
of individuals holding private demonstrations but no serious presence of
anyone representing anything diverting from the official view. Look at the
debate on the proposed mosque near ground zero: those representing
an alternative view are not even a blip on the cultural radar!
Those who know the truth of the strength of the 9/11 Truth movement
(especially what happened on 9/11/06) should find this unacceptable.
If we start to prepare now we can create a major intervention for
the 9/11 10th anniversary memorial in 2011. Some ideas on how we
can prepare for such an intervention:
1)the 9/11 professionals-Truth groups (architects, entertainers, airline
pilots, etc.) can post full page ads in major newspapers around the
country giving their views on 9/11 and calling for action on the 10th
anniversary.
2)9/11 groups around the country can mobilize towards that date.
It might be possible to secure a site in the area even this early by
contacting the New York Police. Obvioulsy we want to be near
the ceremonies without disrupting or displacing them. Most importantly
we want to be visible. The area was so crowded on 9/11 that literally
any site in the area would ensure visibility.
3)Teach-ins, community/campus meetings can be held to mobilize toward
the date. Preparations for such meetings should start as soon as
possible.
With the right spirit a significant intervention is possible on 9/11/2011.
I am hoping those with influence in the 9/11 Truth movement will
agree and begin to prepare.
