An amazing speech in the US Senate - Peter Presland - 04-12-2010
As a foreigner I hesitate to commend a US politician to US colleagues but this speech demonstrates clearly to me that the US DOES have some genuinely good people working inside their political system. This guy does not come across as bought and paid for to me.

Yeah, Michael Moore mentioned him in his last movie Capitalism - A - Love Story. He identifies as a socialist and stands as an independent. It is very heartening to see signs of intelligent life in the US government executive.

Yes, Sanders is great. There are only a few others worth a damn. The rest are clones owned by the Corporations, and follow their scripts of the American Myth Passion Play.
Other very good ones [like Wellstone] have been 'eliminated'. One of our members here, James Fetzer, can tell us all about that.... Wellstone was not the first or only. Other House and Senate members too have been eliminated.
Let us not forget RFK and JFK. We play dirty in politics in the US, sadly.
