Dallas DA Craig Watkins was interviewed on PBS Newshour last night. He
said that EVERY ONE OF THE 25 PEOPLE WHOSE CONVICTIONS HAVE BEEN
OVERTURNED BY DNA EVIDENCE WERE ORIGINALLY ID'd BY WITNESSES, just
like Oswald, bringing to question how much pressure was placed on
witnesses by Wade to ID "perpetrators" who were really not guilty of
the crimes they were accused of.

Here's the transcript of the interview:

DNA evidence sets 25 Dallas "criminals" free who were ID'd by witnesses. - Peter Lemkin - 05-01-2011

Sad.
Poor = convicted even if innocent.
Black = convicted even if innocent.
No Legal Representation = convicted even if innocent.
Not much education = convicted even if innocent.
Prior convictions, no matter how petty [or false] = convicted even if innocent.
Non-white = convicted even if innocent.

Most in prison are either innocent, being mistreated, have been sentenced to longer terms than called for for the crime, or would someone not poor, black, educated, etc. get for the exact same crime. A disgrace...but what isn't these days in the Empire. Many went to their executions innocent, as well. America will never be able to pay for its crimes!

Many of Wade's convictions have later been over turned. He seems a particularly inept DA. Just wanting the paperwork to be done quickly and not at all interested in justice. But we knew that.

The thing is, they are not even halfway done.

God knows how many people will be released in the end.

I predict 50-100.

But this is only half the story. Wade also loaded up juries with people he knew would be likely to convict. He had an assistant write up a pamphlet on this.

The Dallas defense lawyers ( public defenders ) were so frightened of being assigned the Oswald case, that they purposely created a conflict-of-interest situation by donating to a fund for the family of slain officer Tippit. A donation, apparently, disqualified the donor from being appointed Oswald's lawyer.

"...they had started a Tippit fund in the meantime, and practically every lawyer was scared they were going to be appointed, you know, and they had gone and subscribed to that fund so they were having much trouble getting a lawyer appointed."

Wade describes the difficulty Louis Nichols was having trying to get a criminal lawyer ( Nichols didnt practice criminal law ) to go with him to talk to Oswald.

"Louis Nichols.....was trying to get some criminal lawyer to go down there with him, and I said, 'Go down there yourself and talk to him because they are raising just so much cain about it and see what they want and tell him you will get him a lawyer.'"

-- testimony of Henry Wade ( 5 H 239-240 )

That's how afraid the lawyers were of this corrupt Dallas system.
