The ex-wife of Marc Dutroux has been released "after spending only 15 years in jail.
She is to move to a convent overseas."

Being largely unfamiliar with the specifics of the case (though I appreciate its nature and depth) as well as the blog from which this is taken, I offer it up without commendation but merely as fodder for the further insights it might offer. [If there is anything herein that appears to be of a disinformational nature, I would appreciate comments to that effect.]

The version I read is that she, Michelle Martin, has been approved to be released by a Belgian court after spending half of her 30 year prison term behind closed doors.
She was convicted of actively assisting her husband in killing at least two girls, letting them die from hunger.
Her plan was to go to a convent in France, but the french justice minister opposes this.
She is not yet free (as of today), but very likely will be soon.

Huge demonstrations have already begun in Belgium...the average person there is as appalled as are we...somehow the political class and 'judicial' (sic) class in Belgium seem not to 'get it' on this and related crimes...interesting..... [in the USA, as well]
I know Belgium fairly well, as a culture; and personally from what I know of its citizens, can NOT understand this and related episodes of pedophilia, torture and captivity......unless middle-class culture brings a certain kind of boredom and insanity.... [only half serious, if that much....]

The Dutroux crimes also link directly to Gladio structures, which are crucial to understanding post WW2 deep politics.
See for instance Dutroux protagonist Baudouin Dernicourt's involvement with the supposedly extreme-left terrorists Cellules Communistes Combattants (CCC).
Except the CCC were a false flag creature of Gladio, whose "terrorist atrocities" enabled a right-wing authoritarian crackdown on all protest.
As Daniele Ganser writes in 'Nato's Secret Armies', p. 138:
