In case you missed it, below is the diatribe Chris Matthews concluded his program with last Friday. Following that is an e-mail I sent Matthews:

'Hardball with Chris Matthews' for Friday, April 15th, 2011
Read the transcript to the Friday show
…MATTHEWS: "Let Me Finish" tonight with the grassy knoll. That was the place in Dallasnear the Texas Book Depositorythat the crazies believe people shot at President Kennedy from.
Well, to the conspiracist mind, its important to always have a grassy knoll. Its their grotto of denial, a place to travel mentally and find deliverance from reality. Those who dont like reality need a grassy knoll to get through the night.
I do not wish to do injustice to these desperados. I know exactly why people need grassy knolls. They need them because they cannot bear the suffering that truth brings to the heart and to the mind.
How could some losersome misfit who went to the Soviet Union because he thought he liked communism and believed he could find a happy life there, then came home and fall hard for Fidel Castro on the rebound, how could this squirt kill the regal Jack Kennedy? It doesnt balance out, does it? How could a nobody kill such a great somebody?
Well, worst yet, how could a man of a hard lefta communistkill Jack Kennedy. Why wasnt it a right-winger who killed him? Then we could blame it on them?
Ive got it. Well come up with a conspiracy theorydont actually have to prove anything, of course, that saysjust say it. Just say it. It really was a right winger. Its that guy - oh, those guys over in the grassy knoll. Dont you get it? It was the right wing that killed our hero.
Well, a half century later, weve got a new grassy knoll, another place for retreat for those who cant stand a hard truth. The truth is that Barack Obama is the president of the United States. Got it! President of the United States, duly elected leader of the country living right there in the White House.
And they cant stand it. They cant stand that it is, in fact, a fact. No way around it. No way.
Just look at the history books. Look at the newspaper. Dang it! This guy is president. He was elected president. A majority of the people wanted him president and went out and voted for him.
How do we change that? How do we change that reality?
I got it, with thisit didnt happen. You see, he wasnt born here. Hes not eligible to be president.
I read it somewhere that hes from somewhere else. Cant put my finger on it but hes not really an American, you see? Not natural born anyway. Hes from out there somewhere.
So, last night, the boobs in the Arizona legislature voted to require the candidates for president henceforth approved other documents besides the official document that the state of Hawaii issues as a birth certificate. They want circumcision, baptismal records. They want something that nobodys ever wanted before from any candidate before.
What they really want is the same thing grassy knoll people want even nowdeliverance from the truth they cannot handle.
Donald Trumptake a bow for giving new hope to grassy knollers everywhere. Wow!
Thats HARDBALL for now. Thanks for being with us.

Dear Chris,

I was not surprised by your arrogant and ignorant denunciation of conspiracy theorists who believe JFK was fired upon from the "Grassy Knoll." Of course the last official investigation of the assassination came to that same conclusion, based in part on scientific acoustics tests that virtually proved it (despite claims to the contrary those tests have never been refuted).

I find myself wondering, however, if you ever read your former boss and mentor's book "Man of the House," in which Tip O'Neill writes:

I was never one of those people who had doubts or suspicions about the Warren Commission's report on the President's death. But five years after Jack died, I was having dinner with Kenny O'Donnell and a few other people at Jimmy's Harborside Restaurant in Boston, and we got to talking about the assassination. I was surprised to hear O'Donnell say that he was sure he had heard two shots that came from behind the fence. "That's not what you told the Warren Commission," I said. "You're right," he replied. "I told the FBI what I had heard but they said it couldn't have happened that way and that I must have been imagining things. So I testified the way they wanted me to. I just didn't want to stir up any more pain and trouble for the family." "I can't believe it," I said. "I wouldn't have done that in a million years. I would have told the truth." "Tip, you have to understand. The familyeverybody wanted this thing behind them." Dave Powers was with us at dinner that night, and his recollection of the shots was the same as O'Donnell's.

So I guess O'Donnell and Powers can be counted among the "crazies," as can Tip O'Neill for passing on what they told him without attempting to refute it."

You are entitled to believe what you want about the Kennedy assassination, but branding people who believe something else based upon eyewitness testimony and scientific evidence as "crazies" says a lot more about you than it says about them.

But I hate being called a 'conspiracy theorist' even by people on my team. What's Matthews a 'magic bullet realist'?

"I felt this thrill going up my leg."

Ground control to Major Chris: take your protein pill and put your helmet on.

You say this man Oswald went to the Soviet Union because he thought he wanted to live under small-c communism in your phrasing;

that he returned and fell for that fellow Castro. That he, Mr. Oswald, was of the left wing.

Do you drink, Mr. Matthews. Do you pause between hyperventilations to allow your synapses to clear, to be overtaken by your words.

There was another fellow Webster in that Soviet Union migration. Do you quite follow.

There was a dance to the Castro beat, Mr. Matthews. The bongos, the castanets, a Phillips, a Hunt, even a Buckley.

And who was that man John Hurt whom this leftist L.H. Oswald in vain on his last night alive on planet earth sought in quiet desperation to contact.

You who felt a thrill up your leg.

For the tool of the apparatus which struck John.

Knolls are interchangeable with boarding house windows, Mr. Matthews; with hotel pantry shadows, with a thousand darkened corners where television lights will never shine.

Trolls, and tools, and gnomes, and shills such as your ladyship, however, are the sine qua non for the Mockingbird Waltz.

Rave on against the dying of your wheeze in which silence you might hear Tip O'Neill's account of Kenny O'Donnell's confession and Dave Powers' concurrence. O the crazies are all around you to be sure.

I saw Matthews say that live. Smoke was venting from my nostrils.

You can see the Unspeakable before you on American media.

I now no longer watch American cable TV media.

This is not democracy...

I really don't recall seeing this particular comment by Chris Matthews, but I do believe I have heard him confirm his belief that Lee H Oswald was indeed the "LONE ASSASSIN" of John F Kennedy. For that reason, I am confident he has expressed that belief on more than one occasion, and for a substantial period of time. It's very unfortunate that a vast number of people, after hearing a presumed politically progressive commentator state the LHO "Lone Assassin" story, will assume the story to be true. It is absolutely misinformation, as for as I am concerned, and I have to wonder the reasoning for that expressed belief.

Matthews indeed trots out that disinfo every chance he gets. I stopped watching his lying face long ago. The "reasoning" is keeping one's job. Selling the truth to be on tv. Billo is my favorite. In his early carreer he was quite the JFK assassination buff. So much so that it was he who told Gaeton Fonzi of DeMohrenschildt's "suicide" (The Last Investigation p 192).
