A magnitude 6.1 earthquake has hit the Tokyo region. There are no reports of damages yet following the recent quake.Earlier, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck off the northeastern coast of Japan which led the national meteorological agency to issue a tsunami advisory, which was later canceled.Tsunami waves measuring up to 20 centimeters were observed in some areas of Hokkaido and Aom

Japan is, has been and always will be [in time spans of humans] very seismically active! It is no accident that the deepest ocean trench is just offshore of Japan. The two plates are colliding and one is subducting below the other - causing earthquakes and volcanoes. No place for nuclear plants and just about the most regularly hit place by tsunamis [a Japanese word] in the world - Indonesia probably second.
