This was a 'popular science' article. I'll try to find their peer review research on the 'machine' to see if it produces more energy than is input. If not, it is but a hotter-than-the-sun 'lava lamp'.
Plasma is a much ignored subject, as it is rare on Earth, naturally - but very, VERY common in the universe. Most stars and other structures in the universe are mostly plasma [hot enough for the electrons to not be attached to the nuclei of the atoms].
