Potash's book argues in some detail that Love was not the only beneficiary of Cobain's death, and that Love has numerous connections to CIA/MK-Ultra/drug experimentation scientists (going back years) who would have been pleased to see (a.) Cobain hooked on heroin, (b.) Cobain die before he could publicly withdraw from the drug and reduce its popularity among his fans, and (c.) Cobain and other alt rockers from the period (many who were victimized or died after encountering Love) be silenced as supporters of left-wing political activism.
The book also charts a history of CIA/MK-Ultra experimentation going hand-in-hand with the popularization of LSD, and COINTELPRO tactics repeatedly targeting the left. There are detailed chapters on the deaths of Brian Jones, John Lennon, Tupac Shakur and others. (The Shakur section covers multiple chapters and gets into the FBI war against the Black Panther movement in great detail).
The Love/Cobain chapter does suggest that she had help, both before and after the event. It also suggests that Love was a 'person of interest' prior to meeting Cobain, and that a careful study of her youth (military bases, psych assessments and treatments as an infant, names connecting her to MK-Ultra, a habit of her showing up in later years in milieus of interest to the CIA/right-wing drug research groups) suggests there is a great deal more to her than meets the eye. Some suspicious deaths also occurred after the death of Cobain, including one investigator.
