For me, creating panic and fear would have been the probable objectives.

Other motives would be attacks on cultural symbols. Boston after all, and tea party are synonymous. The Boston marathon is a part of American culture. Eroding the faith in our way of life, our liberty, our freedom creates a vacuum that can be filled by darker faiths. Seig heil.

Aye. Like Blighty, your way of life is rapidly changing for the worse.

Liberty and freedom are long past. They went with 911 and were on the way out a couple of decades earlier than that.

Right-teee-ho. My brief post inadequately intended to use italics to communicate too much. Rephrasing: as illusory as the American way of life is, the desruction of that illusion requires a replacement. The Strategy of Tension (ver. C) targets American culture (Western culture?) with the purpose of replacing it with a version of neo-fascism.
