Quote:The last part of her assertion I find strange is that she suggests that the conspirators were inspired by Carl Schmitt, Nazi law professor. Does she seriously think that his Ubermensch view of the world would gain any traction among the Jewish people, Schmitt's intended victims? The alliance of Nazi philosophy and Zionism would indeed be a startling and historical event, which would have been noticed and commented upon by others before 2012.
The relationship of Zionism to fascism is complex and even ambivalent. Look at the wiki article on Revisionist Zionism. In short, revisionist Zionists's attitudes toward Mussolini and Hitler and fascism in general would be summed up with, 'There's lots to like minus the anti-antisemitism.' There was even an initiative to approach Hitler with the offer to side with Germany in exchange for Jewish peoples.
Carl Schmidt was important to Leo Strauss, the godfather of neo-conservatism.
This is all a large and complex area of study requiring lots of nuance.
