The theory that Larry Flynt was shot because he wanted to publish politically dissident materials would seem to fit. After all, Flynt had "fuck you" money, an effective distribution system and he was his own man. But how does this square with the chronology that Flynt was shot in 1978 and Rebel mag wasn't unveiled until 1983.
That doesn't mean I think he was shot by a lone racist nut. This same shooter, Alan Greenblatt, was convicted of the 1980 shooting of Vernon Jordan as well.
