Olof Palme, the Swedish premier and leader of the Social Democratic Part was an ardent opponent of apartheid. He was gunned down on a Stockholm street (Seavägen) on February 28, 1986, after leaving a movie theatre with his wife Lisbet. A man in an overcoat approached Palme and his wife from behind, drew a Smith & Wesson revolver and shot the premier in his back.
Several leads were followed (victim of a police plot, the work of a Kurdish terrorist group or of a lone assailant with a grudge), but the police have never been able to solve the crime.
According to the journalist-researcher Sven Anér, the Africa specialist/journalist Per Wästberg told the Swedish police 5 days after Palme's murder that there could be a SA involvement, but the police didn't even border to register Wästberg's two letters. The police seemed clearly not willing to investigate the SA trail. Sven Anér is convinced that some members of the Swedish police had a direct hand in the murder of Palme [see Sven Anér: Polissporet, 1988]. Others don't believe this, although nobody denies the possibility of some involvement in a more indirect way.
Question: Why said (until very recently) the Swedish police all the time that the SA trail was not worth investigating? As we will see there were from the beginning some indications that the South Africans could have been involved in the Palme-murder:
Information from England:
1. A few days after the murder of Olof Palme. The British Intelligence, MI6, received a strange report: the man who had murdered Olof Palme had been acting under orders from the SA security police. Members of the death squad Koevoet, or COIN, were behind the murder. The SA agent, Craig Williamson, was mentioned as the designer of the plans to murder Palme, aided by Swedish police men. [Jesús Alcalá, in: Dagens Nyheter:9/10/96]
2. At about the same time, Karl-Gunnar Bäck, the GS of the Civil Defence Force Association was contacted by an old acquaintance from England. He told him that the MI6 had information on the murder of Olof Palme. The informant claimed that Palme was murdered by (members of the) SA security forces. A Swedish policeman was also indicated (to have participated). Bäck recorded the information on a cassette and send it to Säpo (the Swedish security police) in Uppsala. Months passed by and nobody got back in touch with him. But late summer 1986 Bäck was suddenly informed that "the leads had een investigated and had led to nothing". Bäck was surprised. Säpo had never bothered to speak to him and hadn't even asked for his informant's name. It is now established that the Palme-investigators neither knew of the tape, nor whether or not the lead had been investigated. Säpo claims it is impossible to find the tape. [see also Alcalá; Lars Borgnäs]
South Africa and the police-trail in Sweden:
3. The Palme-investigators received another lead on involvement from SA together with Swedish accomplices. - An informant, a known thug, who for the moment was serving a jail sentence, said that he was convinced that Swedish policemen helped SA agents in the murder of Palme. Some Swedish police men were members of the IPA, International Police Association. They ran a training camp in Rydsford and they had made several trips to SA where they had met with representatives of the SA security police (DNR 15384, record of investigation from the 15th Nov. 1995). The policemen and the IPA should also have had secret premises and weapons at a meeting place in Wallingatan 32 (Stockholm), a few blocks from the crime scene. According to an informer these policemen were nazis, bore arms while off duty and had frequent contact with South African agents [DNR 15210 Skrivelse av den 6 maj 1993, cited in Alcalá]. It was almost certain that the World anti-Communist League (WACL) had also an office in that same building.
- There has been an internal investigation of six policemen known for right-wing sympathies, who paid, on several occasions, visits to South Africa in the mid 1980s (1985-87. Is it a coincidence that the police station (called the Norrmalm ?? precinct) where they used to work is next door to the Birger Jarl Hotel where Williamson used to stay? [Madi Gray, 2/10/96]. According to Alcalá, when the police is confronted with information of undemocratic, nazi and conspiratory colleagues, they don't, which could be expected, interrogate every person available for interrogation (Question: Why ?)
- The policemen of this precinct had a record during the 1980's of being involved in police brutality: there was a so-called "baseball league" which was involved in extreme right wing politics and former policemen of that precinct left it to open up so-called private security companies and were involved in arms trade.
- This precinct covers the area where Palme was murdered. Some policemen were that night out on the streets, but nothing was seen and according to Sven Anér the police station didn't react adequately after the murder was reported. Of one policeman it is known that he was too exhausted to chase after Palme's murder due to having consumed a can of coke just before arriving at the scene of the crime [Interview Sven Anér; Alcalá]
- The newspaper photographer, Ake Malström, was the night of the murder listening in on a police radio frequency, where he claimed to have overheard a conversation between two police officers moments after the shooting. The alleged conversation ran: "It's cold up here" to which the other officer replied: "It's over now. The prime minister is dead." The photographer filed a statement, but was never called in for questioning.[ News 25/2/94]. - According to Tor Sellström [Interview], Johan Coetzee was sitting at a diplomatic function (early 1996) next to a person of the Swedish Embassy at Pretoria and when Coetzee heard that this lady was from Sweden, he said that he remembered the tough days that Sweden and SA didn't have good contacts , but that however he as commissioner of police always he had good contacts and how the Swedish police had visited SA through the IPA. Question: What did these policemen do in SA, who did they visit there etc.
- Swedish journalist who recently visited South Africa and tried to see the guestbooks of the IPA guesthouses in Cape Town, Jo'burg and Pretoria were told, that they were destroyed [see Dagens Nyheter 10/10/96:5]
Sweden and the PKK-trail:
4. -After the assassination of Prime Minister Olof Palme, Bertil Wedin (or "Morgan" or John Wilson, here called BW) a Swedish right-winger, who in the past had worked for Craig Williamson, acted, according to Hasselbohm, as the initiator of the PKK-lead, which soon became the main lead in the search for Palme's killer. The Kurdish PKK is the Turkish government's main enemy, which has battled Ankara security forces in Turkey since 1984. BW seems to have faked this link with the PKK and passed it to a journalist on the Turkish daily Hurriyet. He located six or seven members of the PKK-group that killed Palme. This promotion of the PKK-lead was made more than three months before Hans Holmér, Stockholm chief of police and head of the Palme murder investigation, claimed for the first time that "PKK is behind the murder of Olof Palme." This became the investigation's main lead, with police chief Hans Holmér and Ebbe Carlsson as it's promoter and lobbyist. A major police sweep of PKK sympathisers in Sweden followed but investigators later had to give up this lead.[see Hasselbohm]
- BW is a Swedish right wing extremist, and former informant for the Swedish security police. He always openly declared that he was working against the Swedish social democratic government and especially against Prime Minister Olof Palme.
He is/was a friend of Göran Assar Oredsson, leader of the neo-nazi party Nordiska Rikspartiet. BW was an officer of the United Nations peace-keeping forces in the Congo (1961) and Cyprus(1963).In Cyprus he served as a lieutenant, for several periods, on the staff intelligence unit in the UN forces.
In 1966 (the year he resigned from the Swedish army) he went to the American embassy in Stockholm and demanded to be sent to Vietnam to fight. Nothing came of this plan. - In 1967 BW was the driving force behind "The Committee for a Free Asia", a committee that was planning a counter-tribunal on Vietnam that would investigate "the murders and atrocities, committed by the communist side in the Vietnam war." At this time BW became a regular informant for the Swedish security police (Säpo). He supplied them with information on left-wing Swedes.
At the same time as he was a security police informant, BW also worked for a Swedish bank (Stockholm Enskilda Bank). BW, who now calls himself a journalist, produces the newsletter Mediasammandrag (Media Summery) for the bank. Recently BW confirmed that he had been involved in military intelligence work.
In 1976 a Swedish newspaper wrote that BW most probably was behind newspaper advertisements trying to recruit mercenaries for service in Southern Africa. The same year he moved with his family to England. On behalf of the Federation of Swedish Industries (Sweriges Industriforbund), the Swedish Employers' Federation (Svenska Arbetsgivarforeningen) and some 15 companies he arranged seminars and meetings in London, so that Swedish businessmen could met businessmen, politicians and thinkers from Britain.
- Craig Williamson (see below) recruited BW as a South African spy. BW said he had met Craig Williamson in SA in 1980. Williamson had introduced him to Peter Casselton, based in London, to whom BW had to report. Casselton was a British citizen, but a SA agent, who had given BW the codename "John Wilson".
- BW became involved in break-ins at various anti-apartheid organisation offices in London. A letter from Craig Williamson to BW resulted in a police search of the Swede's twelve-room house in Townbridge, Kent. The police found stolen material, as well as notes from documents stolen from the office of the PAC. They also found a map over the area around the PAC office, showing the way to the underground station Dollis Hill, as well as sketches of the office itself.
BW told the police that via a bank account in Switzerland, he was paid 1.000 pounds per months (much more in today's value) in salary by Williamson, plus costs. He also received camera equipment. After being interrogated at the Rochester Row police station in London, the Swede was soon released on bail.
As opposed to Casselton and Aspinall, BW declared himself not guilty at the court proceedings in Old Baily on 17 December 1982. The judge agreed that he could remain free on bail. During the trial against him in April BW claimed never to have given the SAns information. The judge noted that he then could not understand what BW had done to earn the money the SA had paid him. BW claimed that he had used the money to write a book on Soviet subversive activities, a work that to no one's knowledge was ever published. But BW admitted he had been at the PAC office on three occasions, but for the purpose of doing interviews. The map of the area around the PAC office and the underground, BW explained by saying he had "a bad memory" and needed it to find his way. He never had to account for the sketches of the inside of the office. The Swede was acquitted. - However, after being acquitted BW admitted to the press that he had supplied information to the company Africa Aviation Consultants on the Isle of Man. But he claimed to have done it in "good faith", without knowing that Williamson's and Casselton's company was a front for the SA security service. In SA the Williamson-lead London operation was regarded a greet success.
- According to Hasselbohm, in 1985 BW held a key position in an organisation called Victims Against Terrorism (VAT), a major SA propaganda operation in Europe. May 1985 VAT staged a demonstration outside the ANC office in London, accusing the ANC of carrying out acts of terror. Later another South African agent (Arthur Kemp, notes *1)became a leading figure in this organisation [Searchlight, Nov. 1996:6].
-November 1985 BW and his family flew to Northern Cyprus. On their arrival cards they declared that they were going to settle there permanently. BW was issued with a Turk-Cypriot ID-card in March 1986. On at least one previous occasion the Swede had, for unknown reasons, gone to Cyprus (using the undercover name "John Wilson") together with the SAn agent Peter Casselton. Right after his arrival in Northern Cyprus, BW was employed by the Ministry of Information there. Part of his job was to work for Radyo Bayrak, Turk-Cypriot radio. He used the radio to fire off vicious attacks against the social democrats and Olof Palme in particular. He was Middle-East correspondent for the Swedish ultra-right journal "Kontra" (Counter-guerrilla).
- It is after the assassination of Palme that BW took on his new role as the initiator of the PKK-lead. Wedin denied any involvement in the assassination of Olof Palme.
[Based on an interview with and 5 articles written by Swedish journalist Anders Hasselbohm; see also Nadire Mater: Sweden-Palme Oct. 4 Sapa-IPS].
Question: Was this PKK-trail a red herring, fed by Bertil Wedin, to conceal South Africa's role? I think it was. Because Weden was blown after his appearance in court in 1982, it is unlikely that he was directly involved in Palme's murder. BUT indirectly it looks like he was: the creation of this false trail is probably the strongest indication that something is wrong here.
Strange things in Sweden:
5. Heine Hüman (45),is allegedly a Swede of SA origen, who came to Sweden in the beginning of the 80's [Interview Tor Sellström]. To day he lives in Florida [see Expressen 29/9/96:12-13].
- During the time of Palme's murder Hüman lived in some God- forgotten-place outside Uppsala where he has some sort of car repair shop. Fourteen minutes after the murder of Palme an elderly couple in Stockholm (Bromma) received a mysterious phonecall with the message: "The job is done, Palme is dead". With the only difference of one digit in the area code (Stockholm 08; Uppsala-area 018), their number corresponded to the number of a telephone in a room of a clubhouse of which allegedly only Hüman had the key.
- Hüman left Sweden in a hurry after the Palme assassination, without saying goodbye to his neighbours. These neighbours, who were interviewed by Swedish newspapers, said that there was a lot of funny business going on at night at his place.
- Swedish journalist have tracked him down in Florida (USA) where he lives under another name in a place outside Miamy where a lot of American ex-intelligence people are retired too [Expressen 29/9/96:12-13]. Hüman denied any involvement in the assassination of Olof Palme.
- In the past Hüman claimed to be a South African agent and that he had been involved in Dulcie September's murder [Vrije Weekblad 12/1/90]. ANC intelligence officers interviewed him in Harare (Zimbabwe) but according to Tor Sellström who lived during that time also in Harare, there were doubts about Hüman's claims. He might have done something, but his stories didn't make much sense.
6. There are also reports of three men who camped out in a white combi for some weeks before the murder. It was cold that winter, with snow on the ground, but to avoid registration, they did not stay in a hotel. The camping van is believed to have come from neighbouring Finland to the east and possibly drove out via Norway in the west. It was claimed that the men were South Africans [Madi Gray]
7. Swedish newspapers [Hans Strandberg SvD 1/10/96) claim that two policemen said that South Africa's superspy Craig Williamson was in Stockholm at the time of the anti-apartheid conference (Svensk Folkriksdag mot Apartheid, 21-23 Feb.1986) and was there also on the night of the murder. Through IPA Williamson allegedly hired a room (under a false name) in a guesthouse belonging to the IPA (Kammakargatan 36), down the road two hundred meters from the spot where Palme was shot (?? I doubt it -KdJ- if this is true, because CW was too well known in Sweden).
- Craig Williamson, former major in SA's security police and since Dec. 1985 employed by military intelligence (MI), knows Sweden and Stockholm well. Williamson had infiltrated ("Operation Daisy") the Geneva-based and Swedish-funded International University Exchange Fund (IUEF). The fund had "virtually been run from Palme's office" and one of the key links was Bernt Carlsson (later killed in the Lockerbie bombing). The IUEF gave scholarships to African (especially supported hundreds of opponents of apartheid) and Latin American students who had fled from right-wing regimes. Williamson became deputy director and trusted assistant of the Swedish IUEF director, Lars Gunnar Eriksson, a friend of Olof Palme. The project of CW and his boss Johan Coetzee was to infiltrate (through the IUEF) the ANC. Eriksson was anti-communist and wanted to support a third force, especially the Black Consciousness Movement [interview Tor Sellström], which was just what the South Africans liked (Notes *2 ).
- From 1977 until his exposure as spy in 1980, Williamson visited the Swedish capital on several occasions. He had the ear of people with power and usually stayed at the Birger Jarl Hotel round the corner from the Swedish aid agency, SIDA. At least one of these visits -in April 1978- was kept secret from his usual hosts in the Foreign Ministry. Within walking distance of the Aston Hotel where Williamson was then staying, lay the ANC office, where there was an unexplained break-in. Nothing was taken, but the files were disturbed. [Madi Gray, interview}
- At a press conference in Stockholm early in 1980 Lars Gunnar Eriksson said that security police chief Johan Coetzee had approached him in a hotel in Geneva. Johan Coetzee asked Eriks son to keep Williamson's police identity a secret for another six months, so that Williamson could nestle in, closer to the ANC. The revelations shocked Eriksson, who fled to Sweden.
- When auditors checked IUEF's books, they found a financial mess. Williamson had been siphoning off IUEF funds to build Daisy Farm, in the Pretoria region. Daisy Farm focused on apartheid foes abroad. It was section A, a special unit of the SA police which was in charge of the anti-apartheid strugglers abroad and its chief was Williamson [Sapa 30/9/96].
- CW admitted that Wedin was working for him, but also another Swede. Don't know who that would be (perhaps Hüman?).
- CW admitted to be responsible for the murders of Ruth First and the wife and daughter of the ANC-activist Marius Schoon but denied any involvement in the assassination of Olof Palme.
The Swedish People's Parliament against Apartheid:
8. This "parliament" was organised by the Swedish anti-apartheid groups and announced a long time before it was actually held (from 21-23 February 1986). Among others the participation of Oliver Tambo, Thabo Mbeki and Abdul Minty of the ANC was announced as well as that of representatives of the UDF and SWAPO.
- A possible scenario?:
It is imaginable that South Africans would be interested and moved in with some agents or even a hitsquad (see point 6). Craig Williamson who knew Stockholm well, would almost certainly be involved (see point 7).
Craig Williamson said in an interview with Tor Sellström that "Sweden was badly worked and not well penetrated. So it was very much left to political contacts", which could only mean, with right wing groups in Sweden, who could function as a kind of local (sleeping) network (?? see point 3; perhaps men like Hüman and Wedin and their contacts).
- Although security would be tight (as indeed it was), it would be easy to keep track of the movements of persons like Tambo, Mbeki etceteras, because there were places they certainly would visit before, during or after this parliament: like the HQ of the Socialist Democratic Party (a place that Palme visited also regularly), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SIDA-building, places in the Centre of Stockholm not very far from each other. [see map Expressen 29/9/96:10] It is an area Craig Williamson knew very well as well.
- A week before Palme was killed, in the meeting where he was reading his prepared manuscript, according to Madi Gray "he gestured and put the manuscript down on the desk in front of him. He raised his head (left his prepared speech) and said: We are all responsible for apartheid. If the world wants apartheid to end, it could end to morrow by simply withdrawing support to the apartheidsregime.' At the time it was such a revolutionary statement, that it took everybody's breath away". It certainly angered as well the Swedish extreme right as the South Africans.
- During this "Parliament"-period the local network and the hitsquad could have been activated against one or more of the representatives of the ANC, UDF or SWAPO (or even against Palme??). For some reason (tight security?) this plan is blown off.
- It might even that the local Swedish network than says, OK why don't you help us with something we want to be done. The whole operation was already mounted and they didn't succeed to do anything with Tambo and the others. Although the assassination of Palme is not in the prime interest of the South African's, they give their support to the local Swedes.
(this is a hypothetical scenario discussed with several informants).
- With the centre of town under surveillance, it could be known that Palme, on the night of 28/2/86 dismissed his bodyguards and went to the cinema with his family. More or less two hours to organise the killing. With a structure already in place, not much of a problem. The perpetrator could be a hired contract killer (notes *3), someone of the Swedish extreme right circles, a SA agent (White was mentioned) or even the bum Christer Pettersson (notes *4).
- The police said the murder was too unprofessionally done to be the work of agents. But, how do you hide your trail, your cover up? Perhaps the best way, is to make it look like as an unprofessional job, hiding the people behind it. Police superintendent Hans Ölvebro thought that ďt was "improbable that a group could have organised itself so quickly".[News 25/2/94], but above we showed how it could have been done.
Allegations from South Africa:
9. Eugene de Kock mentioned Craig Williamson in his mitigation plea at Pretoria Supreme Court, as the one who had masterminded the assassination of Olof Palme in 1986. De Kock believed that the Swede Bertil Wedin (56 y.old) living in Kyrenia North Cyprus, was the murderer (see above). De Kock said he learned of SA involvement in Palme's killing during a meeting "in 1992 or 1993" with Philip Powell, now an Inkatha Freedom Party (IPF) senator.
10. Former hitsquad leader Dirk Coetzee said Anthony White , also a founder member of Longreach was the killer of Palme. Williamson's military intelligence front Longreach was reporting to Brigadier "Tolletjie" Botha. Coetzee first learned of the Palme link through a former agent in the Longreach outfit, "Riaan" Stander, a low ranking former security policeman. Stander made also these revelations to a Swedish journalist in 1995. He says White was assisted in the assassination by British "spy" Mike Irwin (British marines in Northern Ireland and the Falklands war) who also worked for Longreach. Peter Casselton (now living in Pretoria and visiting his friend Eugene de Kock regularly) told the Swedish state television that White had nothing to do with the killing of Palme, and that the murderer was a European living in hiding somewhere in the Mediterranean. [SouthScan Vol.11 No.37, 4 October 1996].
Question: Why did Coetzee not come earlier with these declarations? He talked so much!
11. James Anthony White (50), former Selous Scout and once a ruthless killer for Ian Smith's Rhodesia. White was one of the main killers of the Nyadzonia ZANU-camp in Mozambique (August 1976), where 600-1000 people were killed. He made also two failed attempts to murder Zimbabwean liberation leader Joshua Nkomo in Lusaka, according to a book by his former Selous Scout commander, Ron Reid-Daly. The first involved parking a car packed with explosives on a route often taken by Nkomo; the second was an attack on Nkomo's house that destroyed the building and killed several people inside - but not Nkomo [M&G 1/10/96: White tried to kill Nkomo]. White moved to SA after Zimbabwe's independence in 1980.[SAPA, 30/9/96]. He is known as a "loner" mercenary with a history of "selling to the highest bidder".
White was a founder member of Longreach. He was involved in contraband operations in the 1980's and a member of a poaching and ivory smuggling network which operated in Zimbabwe soon after the country's independence in 1980 [Sapa 30/9/96].
White was linked to both the South African and the Mozambican security services. White is running a furniture factory (a sawmill) on the outskirts of Beira in Mozambique. He is manufacturing exclusive hardwood furniture and doors through a timber concession he obtained from the Mozambique government [Sapa 30/9/96] Mozambique's Frelimo government has sheltered White for years. White became close to Frelimo during the latter stages of the war against Renamo, when he protested loudly at attempts by Renamo to extort money from businesses working in hardwood forests under Renamo control [see Paul Fauvet, Maputo 1/10/96]
- White denied any involvement in the assassination of Olof Palme.
1. ?? South Africa ( a hypothesis): Swedes stood for more than 50% of the ANC's civilian budget in the 80's. Sweden was one of the countries that was pushing sanctions hardest and the first to carry them out ( after 1985 -when it really started). But assassinating one person doesn't make much sense. The government (neither the conservative one) didn't change its policies towards South Africa.
2. ?? Swedish extreme right-wing groups (a hypothesis): They hated Palme. But to the extend that they wanted to kill him? Might be a possibility. It is very difficult to get information about these circles. But (according to Tor Sellström) there is something that starts in Katanga and there are links to mercs in South Africa (see Lasse Berg's documentary film: "Lieutenant Erik"). It leads to Rhodesia, to the Seychelles-coup , to the World Anti Communist League and to UNITA and through that to Angola and Executive Outcomes.
3. ?? A combination of 1 and 2 (see point 8)
4. ?? Work of a lone assailant who had some reason to wish Palme dead (the view of some policedetectives)
5. ?? Other groups or organisations: Palme the victim of a police plot; of a Kurdish terrorist group; of the East German Red Army fraction; of Abu Nidal's Palestinian terrorist organisation; of the secret Iraqi secret service; of the KGB, the CIA/P2, Mossad and of international arms dealers.
*1 According to Searchlight [Nov.1996:6] Arthur Kemp was a prime suspect in the murder of Chris Hani in 1993.
*2 According to Hasselbohm the IUEF was the architect behind a meeting between the ANC and the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM), and a few other organisations. In order to hide the real purpose of Steve Biko's trip to England (planned for the autumn of 1977), IUEF had arranged for Biko to give a number of speeches. As IUEF's Deputy Directer, Craig Williamson knew that Steve Biko was to meet the ANC. Because Williamson's detailed information on the London meeting, it became possible for the regime to derail the talks in London. Only weeks before the meeting, Steve Biko was arrested at a road-block and tortured to death.
*3 Reporters-investigators as Sven Anér, Olle Alsén and Anders Hasselbohm they all believe that the murder is the work of a contract killer linked to the Swedish police (Anér); or to Gladio, the secret Nato "stay behind" network to defend Europe in the event of a Soviet invasion (Alsén) or to the South African secret police (Hasselbohm).
Hasselbohm [see his articles] mentioned the American hitman Michael Townley, who once worked for the Chilean secret service DINA, which had Olof Palme on his death list. According to Hasselbohm at the time there were close ties between the South African and Chilean security services. And there were links running from Craig Williamson (via Italy) to Michael Townley.
*4 The petty criminal Christer Pettersson, is a braindamaged drug addict, who was arrested in December 1988 and charged on identification by Palme's wife. He was tried and jailed despite protests that bungling police and intelligence services were using him as a patsy. Pettersson was acquitted after 10 months and paid massive compensation.
Recently a man, referred to as "the Chevy man", because he witnessed the murder while parked in his Chevrolet said that he was "95% sure" that Pettersson was the killer. The man hadn't positively identified Pettersson in previous interrogations because he feared for his life.
A second witness (Sigge Cedergren), also changed recently his testimony just before his death . Cedergren was Pettersson's drug dealer. On his death bed he told the police that he had supplied Pettersson with the gun (a Smith and Wesson.357 Magnum that never has been found), but had not known of Pettersson's intentions.[SAPA-AFP, Stockholm 1/10/96]
According to Bodil Dreifaldt, Palme looked just like a man to whom Pettersson owned a lot of money. Was it perhaps just a stupid accident or could it be (if Pettersson was involved) that he was made to believe that the man he had problems with, would walk at Seavägen.
Amsterdam, Nov. 1996
Postscript 1997: Since the end of 1996 some new information was published:
- According to SAPA-AFP (16/2/97) new evidence pointed to Swedish killer in Palme murder. Chief public prosecuter Jan Danielsson rejected speculation about South African involvement in the murder, saying this theory had merely served to distract the police from "a more promising lead". No South African trail.
- According to "Intelligence Newsletter" [Paris, 3/6/97] the American journalist Allan Francovich died when passing through customs at Houston airport on April 18 1997. His death was officially attributed to a heart attack. Francovich, who lived in London, had been working for several months on the assassination of Olof Palme. During the stay in the US he planned to meet the person whom his sources had indicated was the killer. Francovich had the man's name, address and picture. He had become a profession killler after he joined Savak, the former Iranian secret service, where he had been traineed by the CIA. Francovich was about to reveal that the operation to murder Palme (code name: "Operation tree")was mounted during a series of meetings staged late 1985 by an ultra secret organization within NATO." No South African trail!
- According to "Independent on line" [24/7/97] The Maputo police arrested in 1997 (July), the SA buisnessman Richard Fair in connection with espionage and possession of illegal firearms. Fair co-owns a boat transport business with Swedish national Nigel Barnett. Flair admitted in a Swedish television interview, that he once flew into Mozambique with Barnett, Anthony White and and Peter Casselton as the pilot. All three were names last year by Eugene de Kock and Dirk Coetzee as being involved with "superspy" Craig Williamson in the assassination of Prime Minister Olaf Palme. All have denied involvement in the assassination plot. Casselton died in February 1997. An police-investigation didn't shed new light on the Palme investigation.

The assassination (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination) of Olof Palme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme), the Prime Minister (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_Sweden) of Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden), took place on Friday, 28 February, 1986, in Stockholm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm), Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden), at 23:21 hours Central European Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time) (22:21 UTC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time)). Palme was fatally wounded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wound) by gunshots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunshot) while walking home from a cinema (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movie_theater) with his wife Lisbet Palme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbet_Palme) on the central Stockholm street Sveavägen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveav%C3%A4gen). The couple did not have bodyguards at the time.
Two years after the event, Christer Pettersson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christer_Pettersson) was convicted of the murder. On appeal to Svea Court of Appeal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svea_Court_of_Appeal) he was acquitted, and a number of alternative theories as to who carried out the murder have since been proposed.

Night of the assassination

Despite Olof Palme's position as prime minister, he sought to live as ordinary a life as possible. He would often go out without any bodyguard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodyguard) protection, and the night of his murder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder) was one such occasion. Walking home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home) from the Grand Cinema (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movie_theatre) with his wife (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wife) Lisbet Palme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbet_Palme) on the central Stockholm street Sveavägen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveav%C3%A4gen), close to midnight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight) on February 28, 1986, the couple were attacked by a lone gunman. Palme was fatally shot in the back at close range at 23:21 CET. A second shot wounded Mrs Palme.
Police said that a taxi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxicab)-driver used his mobile radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_radio) to raise the alarm. Two girls sitting in a car close to the scene of the shooting tried to help the prime minister. He was rushed to the hospital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hospital) but was pronounced dead on arrival at 00:06 CET on March 1, 1986.
The attacker escaped eastwards on the Tunnelgatan and disappeared.
Deputy prime minister Ingvar Carlsson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingvar_Carlsson) immediately assumed the duties of prime minister and as new leader of the Social Democratic Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_Social_Democratic_Party).

Sequence of events

Cinema decision

Palme's decision to visit the Grand Cinema was made at very short notice. Mrs Lisbet Palme had discussed seeing a film when she was at work during the afternoon, and called her son, Mĺrten Palme, at 5 pm to talk about the film at the Grand Cinema. Olof Palme did not hear about the plans until at home, at 6:30 pm, when he met with his wife. By which time, Palme had already declined any further personal body guard protection from the security service. He talked to his son about the plans on the phone, and they eventually decided to join Mĺrten and his spouse, who had already purchased tickets for themselves. This decision was made about 8 pm. The police later searched Palme's apartment, as well as Lisbet's and Mĺrten's work places, for wire-bugging devices or traces of such equipment, but did not find any.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-0)

Grand cinema.

Grand Cinema

At 8.30 pm the Palme couple left their apartment, unescorted, heading for the Gamla stan subway station. Several people witnessed their short walk to the station and, according to the later police investigation, commented on the lack of body guards. The couple took the subway train to the Rĺdmansgatan station, from where they walked to the Grand Cinema. They met with their son and his spouse just outside the theatre around 9 pm. Olof Palme had not yet purchased tickets which were by then almost sold out. Recognizing the prime minister, the ticket clerk wanted him to have the best seats, and therefore sold Palme the theatre director's seats.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-1)

Tunnelgatan. The assassin's immediate escaperoute.

After the screening, the Palme family stayed outside the theatre for a while but separated about 11.15 pm. Olof and Lisbet Palme headed south on the west side of Sveavägen street, towards the Rĺdmansgatan subway station. When they reached the Adolf Fredrik's Church (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Fredriks_kyrka), they crossed Sveavägen and continued on the street's east side. They stopped a moment to look at something in a shop window, continued past the Dekorima shop (now renamed Kreatima) and headed for the subway station entrance. At 11:21:30 pm, half the distance across the Tunnelgatan street and only a short distance from the station entrance, a man appeared from behind, shot Palme at point-blank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-blank) range and fired a second shot at Mrs Palme. The perpetrator then jogged down Tunnelgatan street, up the steps to Malmskillnadsgatan and continued down David Bagares gata [street], where he was last seen.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-2)

Time line

Thanks to time stamps on records for radio and tele communication, many events have been determined with a very high precision.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-3)

11.21:30 pm — The Palme couple are shot.

11.22:20 pm — The 90000 SOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOS) emergency line receives a phone call. An eye witness says there is 'murder on Sveavägen', and is immediately redirected to the police. However the phone call is not redirected properly and the caller is not put through to the police.

11.23:40 pm — A Järfälla Taxi switchboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_switchboard) operator calls directly to the police dispatch center on behalf of one of its drivers on the scene. He can, however, not give any more details than that someone has been shot at the corner Sveavägen/Tunnelgatan.

11:24 pm (ca) — The first police patrol arrives at the scene. Stationed on Kungsgatan, a few hundred feet from the scene, the patrol is alerted by a second taxi driver who heard the emergency call via the taxi radio.

11.24:40 pm — The police dispatch center is contacted by the SOS alarm central concerning the shooting on Sveavägen. The dispatch center operator denies knowledge about any such events.

11.24 – 11.25.30 pm (ca) — A second police patrol, a patrol wagon, arrives at the crime scene. The patrol was stationed at Malmskillnadsgatan at the time of murder, not far from the perpetrator's escape route. They are ordered by the commanding officer at the scene, Superintendent Söderström, to immediately take up the hunt for the perpetrator.

11.25 pm (ca) — A patrolling ambulance is stopped at the scene and gives immediate assistance to the victims.

11.26:00 pm — The police dispatch center calls the SOS emergency center to assure them they are informed about the events on the Sveavägen/Tunnelgatan intersection.

A third police patrol wagon arrives at the scene, the patrol was refueling at a gas station when they got called out to the scene.

A second ambulance arrives at the scene to assist their colleagues from the first ambulance.

11.28:00 pm — The first ambulance leaves the scene, rushing for the Sabbatsberg hospital with prime minister Olof Palme and his wife. Mrs Palme, not being severely wounded, refuses to leave her husband.

11.30 pm — Superintendent Söderström, contacts the police dispatch center to inform them that it is the prime minister who has been shot.

11.31:40 pm — The SOS central is informed that the ambulance has arrived to the hospital.

00.06 am — Prime Minister Olof Palme is pronounced dead at the Sabbatsberg hospital.

00.45 am — Vice prime minister Ingvar Carlsson arrives at Rosenbad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosenbad).

01.10 am — First radio broadcast about the murder.

04.00 am — First TV broadcast about the events.

05.15 am — The government holds a press conference.

Murder theories

People laying flowers where Palme was assassinated

Palme's assassination remains unsolved, with a number of alternative theories surrounding the murder.

"The 33-year old"

A Swedish extremist, Victor Gunnarsson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Gunnarsson) (labeled in the media 33-ĺringen, "the 33-year old"), was soon arrested for the murder but quickly released, after a dispute between the police and prosecuting attorneys. Gunnarsson had connections to various extremist groups, among these the European Workers Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Workers_Party), the Swedish branch of the LaRouche Movement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaRouche_Movement).[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-4) Pamphlets hostile to Palme from the party were found in his home outside Stockholm.
Gunnarsson later moved to the United States of America, where he was murdered. Acquaintances stated he had admitted murdering Palme.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-5)

Hans Holmér (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Holm%C3%A9r), the Stockholm police commissioner, followed up an intelligence lead passed to him (supposedly by Bertil Wedin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertil_Wedin)) and arrested a number of Kurds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurdish_people) living in Sweden, after allegations that one of their organisations, the PKK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PKK), was responsible for the murder. The lead proved inconclusive however and ultimately led to Holmér's removal from the Palme murder investigation. Fifteen years later, in April 2001, a team of Swedish police officers went to interview Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Öcalan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_%C3%96calan) in a Turkish prison about Öcalan's allegations that a dissident Kurdish group, led by his ex-wife, murdered Palme.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-6) The police team's visit proved futile.
In 2007, renewed allegations of PKK complicity in Palme's assassination surfaced during the Ergenekon investigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon_network), which is ongoing as of October 2008.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-7)

Christer Pettersson

In December 1988, almost three years after Palme's death, Christer Pettersson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christer_Pettersson), a brain-damaged petty criminal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal), drug user and alcoholic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic), who had previously been imprisoned for manslaughter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manslaughter), was arrested for the murder of Palme. Picked out by Mrs Palme at a lineup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_parade) as the killer, Pettersson was tried and convicted of the murder, but was later acquitted on appeal to the High Court. Pettersson's appeal succeeded for three main reasons:

The murder weapon had not been found;
He had no clear motive for the killing;
Doubts about the reliability of Mrs Palme's evidence.

Additional evidence against Pettersson surfaced in the late 1990s, mostly coming from various petty criminals who altered their stories but also from a confession made by Pettersson. The chief prosecutor, Agneta Blidberg (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Agneta_Blidberg&action=edit&redlink=1), considered re-opening the case. But she acknowledged that a confession alone would not be sufficient, saying:

He must say something about the weapon because the appeals court set that condition in its ruling. That is the only technical evidence that could be cited as a reason to re-open the case.
While the legal case against Pettersson therefore remains closed, the police file on the investigation cannot be closed until both murder weapon and murderer are found. Christer Pettersson died on September 29, 2004, of cerebral hemorrhage after injuring his head.

Apartheid South Africa

Cuban poster by Rafael Enriquez (1986).

On February 21, 1986 — a week before he was murdered — Palme made the keynote address to the Swedish People's Parliament Against Apartheid held in Stockholm, attended by hundreds of anti-apartheid sympathizers as well as leaders and officials from the ANC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_National_Congress) and the Anti-Apartheid Movement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Apartheid_Movement) such as Oliver Tambo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Tambo). In the address, Palme said, "Apartheid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apartheid) cannot be reformed, it has to be eliminated."
Ten years later, towards the end of September 1996, Colonel Eugene de Kock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_de_Kock), a former South African police officer, gave evidence to the Supreme Court in Pretoria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretoria), alleging that Palme had been shot and killed in 1986 because he "strongly opposed the apartheid regime and Sweden made substantial contributions to the ANC".[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-8)[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-9) De Kock went on to claim he knew the person responsible for Palme's murder. He alleged it was Craig Williamson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Williamson), a former police colleague and a South African superspy. A few days later, Brigadier Johannes Coetzee, who used to be Williamson's boss, identified Anthony White, a former Rhodesian Selous Scout (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selous_Scouts) with links to the South African security services, as Palme's actual murderer.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] Then a third person, Swedish mercenary Bertil Wedin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertil_Wedin), living in Northern Cyprus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Cyprus) since 1985, was named as the killer by Peter Caselton, a member of Coetzee's assassination squad known as Operation Longreach.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] The following month, in October 1996, Swedish police investigators visited South Africa, but were unable to uncover evidence to substantiate de Kock's claims.
A book that was published in 2007 suggested that a high-ranking Civil Cooperation Bureau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Cooperation_Bureau) operative, Athol Visser (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Athol_Visser&action=edit&redlink=1) (or 'Ivan the Terrible'), was responsible for planning and carrying out Olof Palme's assassination.[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-10)

Bofors and Indian connection

In his 2005 book Blood on the Snow: The Killing of Olof Palme historian Jan Bondeson (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jan_Bondeson&action=edit&redlink=1) advanced a theory that Palme's murder was linked with arms trades to India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India). Bondeson's book meticulously recreated the assassination and its aftermath, and suggested that Palme had used his friendship with Rajiv Gandhi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajiv_Gandhi) to secure a SEK 8.4 billion deal for the Swedish armaments company Bofors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bofors) to supply the Indian Army with howitzers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howitzer). However, Palme did not know that behind his back Bofors had used a shady company called AE Services — nominally based in Guildford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guildford), Surrey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrey), England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) — to bribe Indian government officials to conclude the deal.
Bondeson alleged that on the morning he was assassinated, Palme had met with the Iraqi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq) ambassador to Sweden, Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Saeed_al-Sahhaf) (the man who would later go on to become notorious as Saddam Hussein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddam_Hussein)'s Information Minister during the 2003 Iraq War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War)). The two discussed Bofors, which al-Sahhaf knew well because of its arms sales during the Iran–Iraq War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Iraq_War). Bondeson suggested that the ambassador told Palme about Bofors' activities, infuriating Palme. Bondeson theorised that Palme's murder might have been inadvertently triggered by his conversation with the ambassador, if either the Bofors arms dealers or the middlemen working through AE Services had a prearranged plan to silence the Prime Minister should he discover the truth and the deal with India become threatened. According to Bondeson, Swedish police suppressed vital MI6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MI6) intelligence about a Bofors/AE Services deal with India.

The Red Army Faction

The Red Army Faction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Army_Faction) (RAF) better known as the Baader-Meinhof Group of Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany) claimed responsibility for the assassination of Palme via an anonymous phone call to a London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London) news agency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_agency). They supposedly assassinated him because he was the Prime Minister of Sweden during the West German embassy siege (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_German_embassy_siege) in Stockholm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm) in 1975 which ended in failure for the RAF. They claimed the assassination was carried out by the 'Holger Meins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holger_Meins) Commando.'

Roberto Thieme

The Swedish journalist Anders Leopold, in his 2008 book Det svenska trädet skall fällas, makes the case that the Chilean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile) fascist Roberto Thieme killed Olof Palme. Thieme was head of the most militant wing of Patria y Libertad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patria_y_Libertad), a far-right political organization, financed by the U.S. CIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA). According to Leopold, Palme was killed because he had freely given asylum to so many leftist Chileans following the coup that overthrew Salvador Allende (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador_Allende) in 1973.[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-11)

New evidence?

According to a documentary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documentary_film) programme broadcast on the Swedish television channel SVT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveriges_Television) in February 2006, associates of Pettersson claimed that he had confessed to them his role in the murder, but with the explanation that it was a case of mistaken identity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistaken_identity). Apparently, Pettersson had intended to kill a drug dealer who customarily walked, in similar clothing, along the same street at night.
The programme also suggested there was greater police awareness than previously acknowledged because of surveillance of drug activity in the area. The police had several officers in apartments and cars along those few blocks of Sveavägen but, 45 minutes before the murder, the police monitoring ceased.
In the light of these latest revelations, Swedish police undertook to review Palme's case and Pettersson's role. However, the newspaper Dagens Nyheter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagens_Nyheter) of February 28, 2006 carried articles ridiculing the TV documentary, and alleging that the filmmaker had fabricated a number of statements while omitting other contradictory evidence.[13] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-12)

Mockfjärd Gun

Swedish police, acting on tip communicated to the Expressen newspaper, retrieved a Smith & Wesson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Wesson) .357 revolver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolver) from a lake in Dalarna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalarna), in autumn 2006. The gun was earlier used in a post office robbery in Mockfjärd, in 1983, confirmed by the gun's serial number. The Swedish police over the years have test fired hundreds of guns of this kind, seeing if the trace on the bullets would match those found on scene of Palme's murder. The gun was transferred to the National Laboratory of Forensic Science in Linköping (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link%C3%B6ping) for further analysis. However, the laboratory concluded in May 2007 that tests on the gun could not confirm that it was used in the Palme assassination, for it was too rusty.[14] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-13)[15] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-14)

Other theories

John Ausonius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ausonius), "the Laser Man", also known as John Stannerman, was initially one of the suspects but it turned out that Ausonius had a solid alibi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alibi), as he was imprisoned on the night Palme was shot.

The cost of the investigation stands at SEK 350 million, EUR 38 million or US$45 million as of February 25, 2006.[16] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-15)
The total number of pages accumulated during the investigation is around 700,000.[17] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-swepol-16)

In the 1998 Swedish fictional thriller film The Last Contract (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Contract) (Sista kontraktet), Palme's assassination was portrayed as having been planned by the CIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA). A Special Branch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Branch) detective, Roger Nyman (Mikael Persbrandt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikael_Persbrandt)), is on the trail of the international hitman (Ray Lambert, played by Michael Kitchen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Kitchen)) but finds his line of inquiry is blocked by senior police officers and the Swedish establishment. The reason suggested for the murder is the firm stance taken by Palme in rejecting deployment of nuclear weapons in Scandinavia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia). The assassin himself is then killed, to cover any trace back to the CIA.
The Last Contract has been favourably compared to two other thriller films featuring political assassinations: The Day of the Jackal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_of_the_Jackal_%28film%29) and Oliver Stone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Stone)'s JFK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JFK_%28film%29).[18] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-17)[19] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme_assassination#cite_note-18)

Good stuff. Makes a convincing case for the USA (Union of South Africa) connexion/origin. Coincidence perhaps, the alleged Swedish gunman edited a magazine called Kontra and lived in northern Cyprus while Iran/Contra was working through Nicosia in Greek Cyprus. Interesting place, also has sovereign British soil used as airbases, and lots of blue helmets deployed.

Is my memory faulty or was it made some sort of secret that the bullet that killed Palme was made of gold? Maybe that was a different assassination.

For what little it may be worth, the picture I have formed about Palme's assassination was that Craig Williamson and others in SA were probably contracted as the facilitators but that the "client" very likely originated from the USA.

For example, Wiliamson's chums Rolf Van Rooyen and Riaan Stander etc., were regularly in and out of the USA in connections with their arms trading - but doubtless for other activities also. Van Rooyen and the late General Erle Cocke of the CIA Nugan Hand Bank fame knew each other and were in contact with each other. Cocke travelled to SA on business frequently.

One reason I hold to this view is that Chip Tatum told me that no one would ever know the real truth about Palme's assassination. I believed him then that he knew all about this and I still do.

United States recalled its Ambassador to Sweden in February 1968 in protest to Palme (then Minister of Education) participating in a demonstration in Stockholm against the war in Vietnam. In 1972 relations between Sweden and the United States were frozen for over a year after a speech by Palme (PM) comparing the US bombings of Hanoi to other atrocities such as the bombing of Guernica and extermination of Jews at Treblinka. The U.S government called this a “gross insult”. Asked about Palme, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger once answered that he usually disliked the people he agreed with and liked the people he disagreed with, adding dryly: “So Palme, I liked – a lot”. Olof Palme is also remembered for his engagement in liberation of oppressed people in third world countries (South Africa, Nicaragua, Palestine, El Salvador etc.) and his harsh criticism of the Franco Regime in Spain, apartheid in South Africa. One of his most memorable visits was with the Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

Palme may have been a genuine thorn in Their side. In which case, plenty have motive for wanting rid.

David Guyatt's comments above the potential American connection and sanctioned South Africa as, essentially, Riconosciuto's Cabazon reservation writ large, are most interesting. Palme may have been prepared to blow the whistle on some of these secret military programmes. Again, plenty enough reason for the hit.

This is one I know quite a bit about and haven't said much of on internet....will get around to doing so, in part and in summary soon. It has connections back to USA [specifically those around Shackley and his Iran-Contra crew]; some possible S.A. operatives and some Swedish fascists. Pettersson was a LHO-brand patsy. The official story holds as much water as does the official Dallas story. One man I believe who would know a whole hell of a lot is one named Oliver North....but there are others too. Palme was a progressive and outspoken [against many US Foreign Policies] Social Democrat, and thus considered by the USA to be a 'communist' [and thus fair game for termination with extreme predjudice]. He, by accident, came across Sweden's largest arms manufacturer [Bofors] secretly supplying the North and Co. Iran-Contra supply network with some illegal and advanced missiles and such, and was the first prominent victim [IMO] of the Iran-Contra affair. The submarine games off the coast of Sweden at the time also play into all this.....The PKK is a blind alley constructed to lead nowhere [and leads nowhere!] - more later...

Yeah, it is all connected.
First, Peters explanation for Palmes murder is essentially the same given by Victor Ostrovsky for Barschels murder. That is, Iran-Contra. Actually a version of Iran-Contra, that has not been admitted officially. I believe it basically, but there may be other aspects to it as well.
Then, Stoffberg is also connected to the October Surprise, which is connected to Iran-Contra.
October Surprise is connected to all sorts of things, like Russbacher, Marcos Gold and whatnot.
Stoffberg is connected to Reiner Jacobi in more than one way, who is deep in Marcos Gold, possibly on the good side.
Marcos Gold is connected to Switzerland, as is Iran-Contra and Barschel, and everything else having to do with illegal money.
Russbacher is connected to Mind Control and a million other things.
And yeah, Palmes murder is connected to Nazis, Coetzee is connected to Neethling and Wouter Basson, who, shock horror, is connected to Dr. Kellys death, and therefore to Britain, Iran War, and Anthrax. Yeah, connections to French Atomic Industry and Elf, Israel/Mossad, German (East and West) arms industry and whoever runs around in Europe, Australia and Asia can also be seen.

South Africa's 'own Dr Mengele' General Lothar Neethling dies of lung cancer in Pretoria

July 13, 2005 Edition 1
Max du Preez
Few of apartheid's functionaries were so admired and despised at the same time as General Lothar Neethling, founder of the South African Police forensics unit in 1971, who died of lung cancer in Pretoria on Monday.
He was a leading member of the Afrikaans Academy of Arts and Science, who gave him a gold medal. He was a respected figure in Afrikanerdom who described himself as a staunch Christian. He was a police legend who received seven SAP medals. The Taiwanese government gave him two medals.
Neethling was widely regarded as a brilliant scientist and chemist with two PhDs. But in November 1989 his dark side was exposed, and after that he was often referred to as South Africa's own "Dr Mengele".
The connection to Nazi Germany had another side to it: Lothar Paul Neethling was born in Germany in August 1935 and came to South Africa as one of many German war orphans adopted by Afrikaans couples.
In 1989 Dirk Coetzee, a former commander of the SAP's Vlakplaas death squad, spilled the beans in an interview with the anti-apartheid Afrikaans newspaper Vrye Weekblad.
He spoke in detail about Neethling's reputation as a "genius chemist" who had developed all kinds of "remedies" called "Lothar se doepa" (Lothar's Potion) to use on anti-apartheid activists.
Coetzee said he had visited Neethling at home and in his laboratory to collect "knock-out drops" and toxins which he administered to ANC cadres. (The ANC documented many cases where guerrillas died mysteriously and were later found to have been poisoned.)
Neethling denied it, saying he only did forensic work, and sued Vrye Weekblad for R1 million for defamation. The court case lasted many months.
Apart from Coetzee's evidence, a secret agent of the security forces, Leslie Lesia, testified that he was given some of "Lothar's doepa" to kill ANC activists in Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Justice Johan Kriegler accepted Coetzee's version of events, found Neethling had lied in court, and dismissed the claim. Neethling took the judgment to the Appellate Division , where the judges declared they could not determine the truth, because both Neethling and Coetzee probably lied.
In a judgment labelled a blow for press freedom, they found the paper had slandered Neethling. Vrye Weekblad was ordered to pay him R90 000 with costs. This forced Vrye Weekblad to close a month later.
After the shock judgment, a Cape Town prosecutor declared Neethling had once boasted to him how he had developed a potion to mimic a heart attack.
Another policeman said Neethling offered to give him a capsule that he could use to kill ANC leader Tony Yengeni by giving him a heart attack.
During the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's hearings on the former government's Chemical and Biological Warfare Programme in 1996, it became clear that Neethling was in fact the one-time mentor of Wouter Basson, the head of that programme who had earned the nickname "Dr Death".
Neethling admitted he had experimented with mind-altering drugs and other concoctions. After the TRC hearings I laid criminal charges of murder, conspiracy to murder, perjury and fraud against Neethling at the Brixton police station. As far as I know, there was never a thorough investigation.
Dirk Coetzee, who maintains his version was correct, said this week Neethling was responsible for the deaths of many opponents of apartheid.
"His death is the best news I've had for years," he said.

The list above is a pretty good summary IMO of why he was X'd. Of course it had to be made to look false-flag and lone-nut. As to the when a 'last straw', hard to say with precision, but he was long in the 'sites' of a gun! Well before Iran-Contra was public in any way Palme learned about Bofors [Swedish arms manufacturer] supplying a shadowy network with very sophisticated arms and was about to go public with it - he never got the opportunity. I'll try to locate the article [in Danish] by Henrik Kruger on Palme, a very good Danish Deep Political researcher [he wrote a book called The Great Heroin Coup; Drugs, Intelligence, & International Fascism, in English]. I once did a translation of his article, but is on a crashed hard drive. The style of the cover-up followed the pattern we know well from Dallas, Memphis and Los Angeles et al. A group of ultra-right police intelligence officers in the Norrmalm area of Stockholm played a role in the events and in the cover-up, IMO. The same general group may also have had some overlap with the stabbing of Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh in Stockholm. Sept. 11, 2003. Not known to many is that while officially 'neutral' during WW2, there were large and important sectors of the Swedish elites that favored the Axis Powers, and helped arm and supply them. :flute:

Is there any connexion between Palme and the attempted assassination of Kurt Waldheim?

Enskilda Bank was founded by the Wallenberg family and collaborated with the Nazis during WWII, activity that led to a US blockade. I had a very enjoyable lunch at Enskilda in the City during my evil days.

Btw, elsewhere ED has started a thread about bankers who have been suicided. We can Marc Wallenberg (9171) to this list, I think.

Need some clarification there. When, do you think, Waldheim should be assassinated? Or do you mean his character assassination, accusing him of war crimes in WWII? From what I read, the documents against him were fabricated by the Israelis, but, of course, nobody comes out of a war completely clean.
There were also some letter bombs in Austria, I do not remember right now if one of them was also directed against Waldheim. These are also claimed to have originated with Mossad.

Waldheim is definitely connected to Russbacher and that pesky Gold, there are experts on this in this forum (wink, David?).
Other than that I currently do not see something, but, as you know, this does not mean anything.

Further to my comment on the 'Codshit Blog' thread:

Incidentally, both he and John Symonds believe that MI6 was behind the Olaf Palme assassination. As I recall he has set out evidence which I found credible when reading it some time ago. Must see if I can dig it out for the Olaf Palme thread. Here is the link to a long and fascinating article about the Palme assassination. (http://codshit.blogspot.com/2004/06/olof-palmes-assassination-operation.html)

It really is too long to post here but my recall (mentioned above) was accurate in that it connects some very disparate dots. It places the episode carefully in in the fraught context of its time: Viz ambitious US/UK/NATO plans to precipitate the fall of the Soviet Union proceeding apace, with Palme's election, following his history of aggressive neutrality, further confirmed by his blocking of a trans-shipment of Hawke missiles through Sweden, seen as seriously threatening those plans. Ola Tunander's Submarine incursions work is mentioned as are a number of other impressive sources.

BTW, the Hawke missiles mentioned in my last post were bound for Tehran, courtesy of Oli North which, as intimated in other posts brings Iran-Contra firmly into play - so no surprises there.

Yes. Waldheim was that most despicable of creatures: a Nazi apparatchik.

As Fisk notes:

Waldheim - how his friends would prefer that they didn't read these words this morning - was based at a town called Banja Luka, a market town where Serbs and Jews and communist Croatians were murdered en masse, hanged like thrushes from mass gallows or raped to death in the nearby Jasenovac extermination camp. Waldheim would have us believe that he knew nothing of all this, that he was a mere intelligence officer for Army Group E of the Wehrmacht, whose commander, Löhr, just happened to be tried for war crimes after the Second World War.

It was an Austrian journalist who alerted me to Waldheim, a reporter whose father had fought in the Wehrmacht, who had survived the evacuation of north Africa ("I do hope I didn't kill him," the "Enigma" cryptologist said to me when I told her of his attempt to escape by air - his plane got through the Allied net). "Look for the letter W," the Austrian journalist said, the letter W after each debriefing, each Allied commando captured by the Gestapo, each prisoner to be extinguished by "nacht und nebel" - by night and fog.

No, Waldheim didn't order their deaths. He didn't even interview the captured British commandoes, or so he said, but merely "collated" their reports. His junior officers did the interviewing (let us not contemplate what that meant). Then the British prisoners disappeared into night and fog.

On September 29, 2004 Pettersson died at the Karolinska University Hospital after he supposedly fell and suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. He had been in a coma since September 16, 2004 when he underwent emergency surgery for unspecified head injuries. Pettersson had reported being harassed by the police on September 15, the day before he was found with head injuries, with unsubstantiated rumors circulating that he was a victim of police violence. Pettersson was buried in his hometown Sollentuna in January 2005.

Shortly before Pettersson was taken to hospital, he had contacted the son of Olof Palme, Mĺrten Palme, explaining he had something to tell the family. Palme said he was willing to meet Pettersson if he was ready to confess to the murder. But the meeting did not take place, and what Pettersson had to tell was never revealed.

Next week it will be 25 years since the murder of Olof Palme.

Somehow it feels as if Sweden was also assassinated. Sweden is no longer what it used to be.

The police is still investigating the case.
450 weapons have been tested without positive results.
130 persons have confessed that they murdered Palme.

The assassination (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination) of Olof Palme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme), the Prime Minister (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_Sweden) of Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden), took place on Friday, 28 February, 1986, in Stockholm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm), Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden), at 23:21 hours Central European Time. I will have more to say shortly, but in short, Oliver North and his superiors were directly responsible for the assassination. Yes, S.A. persons also were involved, as were ultra-right Swedes. Palme was about to expose [before anyone knew about it anywhere] the [later to be called] Iran-Contra Scandal. He [Palme] had found out that Bofors [Sweden's largest arms manufacturer and ultra-right multi-national had supplied rockets into the 'Iran-Contra' deals. For this he died...they also hated him for being a 'socialist' - which to that ilk is the same as 'communist' - the same as 'better dead than red'. More soon......this is something I spent years on....need to find the materials.

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time)
I agreed Christer, Sweden is no longer the same country. It has lost its neutrality, it is a de facto member of NATO, it is anti-immigrant and in love with neo-liberalism wanting to stop free speech and is being used in persecuting Julian Assange in some sort of secret deal for others. I don't think this is all Swedes of course but a small controlling powerful clique. See my threads on the Wallenbergs here (https://deeppoliticsforum.com/forums/showthread.php?6503-Wallenberg-Family&highlight=wallenberg) and TIMBRO here (https://deeppoliticsforum.com/forums/showthread.php?6455-TIMBRO&highlight=wallenberg). Rather than answer this rag-tag collection of original stuff about the Olof Palme assassination with something approaching the truth, I shall just provide links to my research about the context in which his assassination took place, and the troubles that his apparent assassin, Captain Simon Hayward, had caused previously and subsequently - what led ultimately to the downfall of Thatcher's government and her Conservatives:

He was hated by the USA and their 'hangers on in Corporate Capitalism' as he was a socialist. He was murdered, I believe, to move Sverige to the right; just as JFK was murdered to move the USA to the right. Most political assassinations are done to move countries to the right. Yes, Sverige [Sweden] changed. I lived in Stockholm just after the assassination and just a few blocks away. Every day I walked to the Gamla Stan [Old Town] and passed the alley and the memorial...spoke to many Swedes about it and its impact on the country and what they felt about themselves. All the 'suspects' are put forward by the murderers as fake and blind-alleys to follow that lead nowhere. There are authorities in the US and UK and Sverige [perhaps Israel and South Africa too] who know exactly who killed Palme, IMO, but it suits them to keep their mouth's shut. Remember that Sverige has had two major assassinations...not just one! America has had more than one can count. All I know of were to move the countries to the right!!!! [and have!!!!]

Since the 25th anniversary of the unsolved assassination of Sweden's statsminister is coming up on Monday, posters should be made aware of the leading suspect in the surprise murder which could have killed us all if it had not been for the spying for the Soviets by the Agency's Rich Ames, the Bureau's Robert Hanssen, the Mossad's Jonathan Pollard et al.:

The NSC 's Lt. Colonel Oliver North:
From Key Operative to Iran-Contra Scapegoat
Trowbridge H. Ford
When a C-123K supply plane loaded with lethal weapons, allegedly belonging to a Pennsylvania company, Corporate Air Services, was shot down over Nicaragua on October 6, 1986, killing pilots William Cooper and Wallace Sawyer, and the CIA's cargo-kicker Eugene Hasenfus was taken prisoner by the Sandinistas, the Reagan administration's, and the Thatcher government's crucial covert operations threatened to be exposed, a record which risked the President and the Prime Minister being removed from office, and many of their most important subordinates going to prison.
Actually, the plane was part of the fleet that retired Air Force Major General Richard Secord had put together for Lt. Colonel Oliver North's effort in the National Security Council (NSC) to supply support for the Contras against the regime in Managua, and the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan from the illicit profits of prohibited weapon sales to Teheran in the hope gaining release of hostages held by Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Enterprise consortium was composed of arms dealers, intelligence agents, mercenaries, and the like - what the CIA, Mossad, and others had helped put together to make up for congressional cutoff of funds, culminating in the Boland Amendments, which required North to take over its management because of prohibitions of Agency participation.
Any serious investigation of it would have led to international arms dealers like Syria's Manzer al-Kassar, Saudi petrobillionaire Adnan Khashoggi, Iranian wheeler-dealer Albert Hakim, former SAVAK (the Shah's intelligence service) informant, and go-between with its successor Manucher Ghorbanifar, Britain's private security expert, and entrepreneur Major David Walker, and a wide collection of Israelis, especially arms dealer Al Schwimmer, Aman's (Israeli military intelligence) Yaccov Nimrodi, Mossad fixer Rafi Eitan, and false record keeper Ari Ben-Menashe. "According to North," Tony Geraghty has written in The Bullet Catchers, "some of the resultant military action in Nicaragua - attacks on military aircraft - were farmed out to David Walker of KMS. If true, it was an interesting example of the 'seamless robe' of Anglo-American policy outside the Nato area." (p. 245)
Unfortunately, the claim was more than true, as the seamless web of cooperation between Washington and London within the NATO area included farming out operations to their respective navies, and to Walker's KMS too, backed up by assistance, and disinformation from CIA, MI6, and MI5. If these operations, especially the assassination of Olof Palme (Operation Tree), had been investigated, the trail of culpability would have gone right up through the Agency's Directorate of Operations to DCI William Casey, and to the Oval Office, while in London the Security Service's Director General Anthony Duff and the leading counterterrorist officials of MI5, especially DD Patrick Walker, and MI6, particularly Director of Requirements and Production Colin McColl, would have been in similar difficulty, thanks to Downing Street's direction by Cabinet Secretary Sir Robert Armstrong. The investigation would have heated up further when it was learned that Shimon Peres's counterterrorist expert Amiram Nir, along with assassination arrangers Felipe Vidal, Craig Williamson, and Michael Townley, were also involved.
Hasenfus was no simple crew member either. He worked for the Agency's Felix Rodriguez aka Max Gomez, friend and former subordinate in Vietnam of Vice President George Bush's national security adviser, Donald Gregg. Rodriguez, a veteran of the Bay of Pigs fiasco, helped track down, and murder Ernesto Che Guevara in Bolivia in 1967 (Jon Lee Anderson, Che Guevara, pp. 718-50), and was now working surreptitiously with the Agency's Central American task force chief Alan Fiers, and his subordinate Joseph Fernandez, station chief in Costa Rica, to assist Secord's supply efforts from El Salvador's Ilopango base. (Lawrence E. Walsh, Firewall, p. 79ff.) Gregg was providing backdoor, deniable oversight for operations.
Fiers had taken over the project after the congressional cutoff from Duane "Dewey" Clarridge, who became head of CIA's West European division of the operations directorate which was involved in all kinds of double-agent efforts (Operation Courtship) to prove that the Soviets were promoting and assisting terrorism from Central America across the North Altantic to Scandinavia, and down to Afghanistan. This ruse would ultimately justify North's countermeasures to go after targets from Castro's Cuba to the sources of growing neutralism in Europe, particularly on NATO's periphery, especially in Sweden. Fernandez's office in San Jose served as the communication link, thanks to NSA-supplied KL-43 encryption devices, between the Contra forces in the field, North's people in Washington, and arms shipments arranged by The Enterprise from Europe and the Middle East.
The whole operation had become even more complicated, and conspiratorial after a shipment of HAWK missiles in November 1985 from Israel to Iran had been prevented from being transshipped through a still officially unidentified European country, where it was to pick up more weapons, because of opposition by its government, leading to a fiasco invovling Portugal which ultimately obliged Clarridge, and CIA to officially supply the needed transport, what required President Reagan to sign an ex post facto presidential finding two weeks later to authorize the action which was then compounded by the White House's failure to inform Congress of its existence.
A month later, on January 6th, Reagan was persuaded by North alone to expand the arms sale operation by getting the CIA, and unspecified "third countries" directly involved so the hardliners in Teheran could be overthrown (Walsh, p. 45) while radically changing the strategic balance with the USSR (Operation Armageddon), what resulted in signing National Secuirty Decision Directive NSDD-207 which strenghtened the operational capability of the Restricted Interagency Group's Operations Sub-Group (OSG), now composed of counterterrorism hardliners Charles Allen from CIA, Oliver "Buck" Revell from FBI, the Pentagon's Noel Koch, Lt. Gen. John Moellering from the Joint Chiefs, and the State Department's Robert Oakley, to include 'neutralizing' terrorists which had been been denied when it was created in April 1984. (Robert Woodward, Veil: The Secret Wars of the CIA 1981-1987, pp. 361-2) To run this secret network which even had its own "FLASH" communication system which bypassed all normal ones, North was given the Office to Combat Terrorism, assisted by fellow Annapolis graduate Robert Earl and Craig Coy from Bush's Task Force on Combating Terrorism.
North seemed like a most unlikely candidate for the position, but he had just the right qualifications, qualities, and connections that the situation called for. He had joined the staff of National Security Adviser (NSA) Richard Allen, working in the Latin American section, because he had caught the eye of the new Navy Secretary, John Lehman, Jr., by recommending in an article the use of battleships in the new Maritime Strategy against the Soviets while serving as a instructor at the Naval War College. (Gregory L. Vistica, Fall from Glory: Men Who Sank the U.S. Navy, p. 116) While North was serving well in Vietnam, starting in 1968, as a flamboyant, can-do platoon leader in a dying cause, winning the Silver Star for valor, he developed briefing skills (Robert Timberg, The Nightingale's Song, pp. 149-50), the sine qua non for uniformed officers seeking policy-making positions, as General Alexander M. Haig, Jr.'s career had demonstrated. North's field of operations vastly expanded when fellow Annapolis graduates Robert McFarlane followed Haig's lead to become NSA after William Clark, Allen's replacement, left, and John Poindexter worked up its ranks from military aide, as Haig had, to become his assistant.
McFarlane put together an aggressive foreign policy, scuttling de´tente, from what Haig had been attempting in the Caribbean and South America over the protests of Britain, Lehman was seeking around the northern periphery of the Soviet Union despite the reluctance of Europe and NATO, and the CIA was promoting in the Middle East and Afghanistan inspite of opposition by terrorists and Arab states.
In the wake of the Falklands War, McFarlane, taking advantage of the contacts he had made while working at State, wanted to put the struggle with the USSR, as Downing Street desired, back on an East-West plane where NATO worked together in a coherent way, challenging the Soviets and their supporters on every front whether there was movement or not. The policy required putting together a Maritime Strategy which would take advantage of the West's growing naval superiority, thanks to Lehman's pursuit of a 600-ship navy, by responding to any presumed Soviet land threats with naval surface and underwater actions on the periphery, particularly in the Barents and Baltic Seas.
The new troublespots were Olof Palme's Sweden, Ayatollah Khomeini's Iran, and Muammar Qaddafi's Libya. Sweden's new statsminister was particularly troubling because of his claims that he could act as mediator across the board while holding the Soviets at bay in the Baltic, a position apparently belied by his equating American intervention in Nicaragua with that of the Soviets in Afghanistan. Chris Mosey, in Cruel Awakening: Sweden and the Killing of Olof Palme, compared his efforts for the Sandinistas, the first European head of government to visit Managua, with what he had done against the Americans in Vietnam (pp. 142-3), the ultimate red flag for the new team in the White House. Soviet defector Anatoliy Golitsyn claimed in New Lies for Old that Palme was working hand in glove with KGB terrorists to promote Eurocommunism. (p. 349ff.) According to Robert Timberg, even the slightest suggestion of such a nightingale's song would revive all the bitter Vietnam memories of the veterans now running the White House's Situation Room. (p. 16ff.)
When Clarridge left Central America for Europe in 1984, the plight of the Contras was desperate. Cut off from weapon assistance by Washington officialdom, and reduced to meager humanitarian aid, North felt obliged because of his experience in Vietnam to do whatever was necessary to see that they had the necessary funds, means, and expertise to defeat the Sandinistas. While much has been said about his operations to sell arms for illegally obtained profits to help the Contras (See, e. g., Walsh, p. 197ff.), little could be expected from them if they were not made into an effective fighting force, what required real leadership and training in guerrilla warfare. This had been explicitly denied by the allegedly timid Agency DD John McMahon the previous April when North sought passage of National Security Decision Directive 138, a prohibition still cast in doubt when the Associated Press, and The New York Times announced in October that the Contras had been receiving a CIA primer on how to kill Sandinistas. (Woodward, Veil, p. 388)
To get around this continuing difficulty, North enlisted the services of Major David Walker who he was introduced to by the Navy Secretary, probably at one of Lehman's famous parties on his barge in the Potomac. Lehman and Walker had attended Cambridge University together, and the former Special Air Service (SAS) officer was now running KMS aka Kini Mini Services, and Saladin companies which provided skills any gamekeeper or poacher could require. In 1975, KMS had been contracted by the Foreign Office to protect vulnerable diplomats, thanks to MI5's advice, especially in Dublin after the IRA assassination of the British Ambassador, Christopher Ewart-Biggs, where use of the SAS was excluded. KMS's role was replaced by the new Thatcher Government in reaction to the assassination of Airey Neave by the Royal Military Police.
KMS revived its gamekeeping function, though, even with the help to regular serving officers, for the Foreign Office during the Falklands War, as was graphically demostrated in Washington in 1984 when an arriving Saudi Prince saw a KMS officer come quickly to his aid after the leader of the State Department's protection team lost his ability to do so when his belt supporting all his equipment embarrassingly broke as the minister was descending the ramp. (Geraghty,p. 8) KMS bogyguards came armed, and fully prepared to use their weapons. The marriage of Anglo-Amereican counterterrorist forces was made even closer by the IRA's Patrick Magee's near successful attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Thatcher, what Reagan had experienced three years earlier at the hands of John Hinckley, Jr., by blowing up Brighton's Grand Hotel on October 16th. (Peter Taylor, Brits: The War Against the IRA, pp. 265-6)
To employ Walker's companies, North called upon McFarlane to see that FBI Director William Webster approved their use without the usual checks about their reliability and accountability. (North's Top Secret memo, "Assistance for the Nicaragua Resistance," Dec. 4, 1984) Dr. David Owen, when he was Foreign Secretary for Harold Wilson's Labour Government, was so dissatisfied by the KMS role in Yemen that he attempted to prevent it from getting the FCO contract. (Geraghty, p. 210) According to SAS veteran Ken Connor, KMS got started in Aden during Operation Nina in which SAS Fijians and British Arabists, who could pass for natives, went undercover in its warren of streets and back alleys to search out targets of opportunity in a guerrilla war, the precursor of what the 14 Intelligence Company did later in Northern Ireland. (Ghost Force, pp. 195-6)
In this context, KMS fitted its Swahili meaning - an unseen movement by a snake in the grass. James Callaghan, when he replaced the beleaguered Wilson, was so convinced that MI5 was behind his downfall because of its role in contracting KMS that he saw any so-called improvement in security as a potential threat, mistaking, Geraghty explained,"...the politically loyal Special Branch protection team with the maverick spirits of military counter espionage." (pp. 157-8) About who these spirits might be, Geraghty discussed the so-called 'shoot-to-kill' murders in South Armagh in the fall of 1982 as a "...policy of counter-assassination, instead of operating within the law." (p. 167)
Geraghty added, thanks to the insights by a counterterrorist officer who knew KMS operations well, the plight its trained bodyguards had caused the Presidents of North Yemen during the 1970s when they allowed him and his brother to run off with two beautiful French whores without protection, leading to their assassinations on the way back to Sana'a, and his successor's bodyguards failing prey to the "double bluff" ploy when the President of South Yemen sent two briefcases of presents, one stashed with American money which was embarrassingly opened in public, and the next one somewhat later with 5 pounds of plastic explosive which exploded in private with devastating results. (p. 277)
Walker's companies, given their leadership, expertise, and contacts, were instrumental in turning around the Contras' efforts during 1985. On March 6th, right after Saudia Arabia doubled its monthly cash contribution to the Contras, Walker's people blew up the main Sandinista military depot in downtown Managua for a $50,000 fee, and followed up by clearing the mines protecting the port facilities at Puerto Cabezas, where Soviet and Cuban assistance was arriving, so that it could be attacked. While Walker's Saladin firm was helping train the Contras into an expanded, effective guerrrilla force, his specal teams attacked Sandino airport, as Walker had recommended, destroying the recently received Soviet HIND-D helicopters on the ground, and its maintenance facilities. In fact, the demands on Walker's companies were so great that his mercenaries Peter Glibbery and John Davies were openly recruiting 40 ex-British Army volunteers in London during May to expand the Contras' war. (Nick Davies and Jonathan Foster, "British dogs of war recruited to fight in Nicaragua," The Observer, May 26, 1985, p. 1)
This permitted North to carry his war with Marxism further afield. When 234 Marines were blown up in Lebanon on October 23, 1983, recalling the defeats in Vietnam, North had helped organize with McFarlane and Lehman two days later the invasion of the Commonwealth's Grenada by 6,000 Marines to rescue it, especially its 1,000 Americans, from the grip of Maurice Bishop's 600 allegedly rampaging communists. A year later, when Abu Abbas's Palestinian terrorists seized the Achille Lauro cruise liner in the Mediterranean, murdering an invalid Jew, Leon Kilinghofer, with al-Kassar provided weapons in the process (Peter Dale Scott and Jonathan Marshall, Cocaine Politics, p. 16), North pushed successfully the idea of the Navy hijacking them as they made their escape to Tunisia on EgyptAir flight 2843, a plan calling for the use of F-14s from the USS Saratoga of Admiral Frank Kelso's Sixth Fleet, reminiscent of how the Navy had disposed of Japanese Admiral Yamamoto over Truk during WWII. (Vistica, pp. 219-20) It was the success of this red-tape free operation which led Reagan to utter his now famous one-liner: "You can run, but you can't hide."
North moved immediately to put this capability on a worldwide basis at Palme's expense, the statsminister having retained power, with the help of the Swedish communists, in the fall general election despite all the negative predictions and propaganda. The Enterprise, whose manager David Kimche, the former director general of Israel's Foreign Ministry, had provided Iran with tons of US tanks, Katysha rockets, air-to-air missiles, artillery shells, rifle rounds, and the like from six countries, including Sweden, thanks to the false end user certificates Ben-Menashe had supplied, had its management expanded to include Major Walker, and former CIA operative Miles Copeland (Gordon Thomas, Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad, p. 141), upsetting the "sweet operation" in the NSC that Kimche had been carrying on with Eitan since 1981.
Walker's KMS had carried out all kinds of "wet affairs" for the Israelis - e. g., the assassination of Arafat's moderate negotiator Said Hammami in his London office in January 1978. In 1987, Englishman Ian Davidson, a member of Arafat's Force 17 bodyguards who, it seems, had penetrated them for the Mossad, would apparently double as a poacher to kill cartoonist Ali-Adhami in a street in Chelsea for having the temerity to publish one of the PLO leader's latest mistress. (Geraghty, pp. 389-90) Both Walker and Copeland, because of their involvement in protecting the Shah, were similarly worried over their own safety because of their known role by the Khomeini regime (Connor, pp. 225-6), and were most eager to please the new leadership in Teheran.
To kills two birds with one stone, Secord arranged for 80 HAWK missiles to be shipped through Sweden on November 17th for the now desperate Iranians in their war with Iraq. Schwimmer and Nimrodi purchased weapons from Bofors for Teheran, contrary to Palme's pre-election commitments to stop them, and had leased three planes to fly all the weapons from Arlanda without authority from Inspector of War Materiel, Admiral Carl-Fredrik Algernon. (Richard Reeves, "The Palme Obsession," The New York Times Magazine, March 1, 1987, esp. p. 56) The Enterprise hoped to force the statsminister's hand, as Washington and London had done with their submarines in the Baltic about alleged Soviet intrusions when he was returning to power in October 1982. (Ola Tunander, Harsfjarden, p. 13ff.)
The passage of the weapons through Sweden would show, if ever the NSA tapes of the conversations during transit were revealed, that Palme was being completely hypocriticalwhen he claimed that he was adhering to official US policy of not assisting militarily this sponsor of state terrorism (Operation Staunch), and that he was a honest broker in trying to settle its war with Saddam Hussein. The Swedish communists would only conclude too that Palme was taking the coalition for a ride when he denied being anti-Soviet. By stopping the shipment, as Richard Reeves described in an article in The New York Times Magazine, the statsminister threw everyone into unanticipated confusion.
For North's network, this meant somehow terminating Palme's apparent efforts to assist the Soviet expansion, what works like Arkady Shevckenko's Breaking with Moscow, Viktor Suvorov's Soviet Military Intelligence and Spetsnaz, and Henry Denham's Inside the Nazi Ring, sponsored by the CIA, MI5, and MI6 respectively, were increasingly calling for. The problem was that Moscow was doing little to promote the claim, while rolling up double agents in Clarridge's Operation Courtship, especially Gennady Varenik in Bonn, Gennady and Svetlana Smetanin in Lisbon, and Valeri Martynov and Boris Yuzhin in Moscow, trying to maintain it, thanks to the spying by the Agency's Aldrich "Rick" Ames and the Bureau's Robert Hanssen.
In this context, Britain and America did things to make it seem that Soviet expansion was in the works. Operation Brave Defender was carried out, a rehearsal apparently of WWIII where Spetsnaz forces overwhelmed everything NATO was capable of, giving the myth of Soviet invincibility a boost. (Connor, p. 441) Then Palestinian Abu Nidal, who Geraghty would later be persuaded by British military intelligence killed Palme (The Bullet Catchers, p. 247ff.), carried out attacks with al-Kassar provided weapons on the airports in Rome and Vienna right after Christmas, killing five Americans, and fifteen others. To make the case that Qaddafi was another Soviet client promoting IRA terrorism, a convenient cover for what was planned in Scandinavia, the 14 Intelligence Company joined the Irish Gardai a month later, thanks to American signit intelligence, in seizing prematurely tonnes of Libyan weapons, including machine guns to shoot down army helicopters, that Adam Hopkins' Kula, formerly the Casmara, provided (Tony Geraghty, The Irish War, p. 182), resulting in the retribution execution of IRA quartermaster Frank Hegarty despite British assurances for the tipoff. (Raymond Murray, The SAS in Ireland, pp. 374-6)
Then Anglo-American intelligence, especially MI5's F and G Branches, raised public anxiety about terrorism to a fever pitch by over-the-top stories about the GRU's Spetsnaz forces, claiming that 25,000 of them under civilian cover had infiltrated Western Europe, even Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) protesters of the stationing of cruise missiles at Greenham Common. While Connor saw this disinformation as the result of intelligence analysts overselling efforts to discredit CND with compliant journalists (Connor, pp. 439-41), actually it was to prepare the public for a showdown with the Soviets. The Times and Jane's Defence Weekly considered the threat so real that they discussed the matter in late January issues. The Times reporter Michael Binyon in Washington started a regular column, "Terrorism and America," explaining the effort that Robert Oakley, who North had enlisted to get the HAWK missile shipment transported through Portugal (Lou Cannon, President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime, p. 550), was mounting in NATO to contain the 'low intensity warfare' threatening Europe.
When Palme seemed to be, as Golitsyn had long claimed, a Soviet stooge afterall, all kinds of unexpected fallout from the HAWK fiasco had to be fixed. No sooner had Reagan signed the illegal finding on December 5th than Kimche resigned from The Enterprise, explaining that "the wrong men now had too much power in the consortium." (Thomas, p. 142) Kimche, the Mossad's former deputy director general, was replaced by the reckless Nir. The Agency's DD McMahon also had to go because of his having forced the President to sign the first finding (Cannon,p. 552), and was replaced by the gung-ho Robert Gates. McFarlane, who objected to the overthrow of Chile's democratically-elected President Allende while serving in Nixon's NSC, was so distressed by the turn of events that he too resigned, restricting his activities to gaining the release of the remaining hostages while Poindexter took over as NSA.
North concentrated on stifling blowback from operations in Central America, especially by Jack Terrell, Peter Glibbery, and Steven Carr of Tom Posey's Civilian Military Assistance which had been seeking mercenaries in Britain. They had become so disaffected by CMA's attempts to assassinate Contra Southern Front leader Eden Pastora (Operation Pegasus), the brainchild of CIA's Frank Camper which forced their explusion from Hondurus when its President learned about it, and North inviting Walker's people to take their place (Cocaine Politics, note 19, p. 235), that they were willing to testify to the FBI about them, particularly those by Felipe Vidal aka Charles Morgan. On February 16, 1987, the day this public advocate of international terrorism against pro-Castro targets was finally brought to heel, The Miami Herald reported that he had been arrested seven times on narcotics and weapons charges. Thanks to feedback from the Bureau's George Kiszynski and Revell, though, North was able to make it look as if Terrell was the terrorist, threatening ultimately to kill Reagan. (Cocaine Politics, p. 132ff.)
Why North was so concerned about Terrell's whistle-blowing efforts was because Morgan was already in Stockholm, looking for an assassin of the statsminister. In November, Morgan aka Peter Brown met Jovan von Birchan for a beer at the Continental Bistro during which Morgan asked him if he would be willing to carry out an assassination. Later, Morgan said that he was willing to pay him $2,000,000 to kill Palme. While von Birchan did not take the offer seriously, he changed his mind during a January meeting in which Morgan explained emphatically: "it was decided that Olof Palme was going to be assassinated and you don't have to worry about any police protection. I stand by my offer of 2 million dollars." (Swedish military intelligence's (SSI's) agent Joel Haukka's report, "Samtal med von Birchan 4 april 1986") Palme, in the interim, had stopped a Bofors deal with India, worth 15 billion Swedish crowns, that London's AE Services weapons dealer Bob Wilson, an aquaintance of Morgan's, had arranged. Around New Year's Day, CIA agent "Milan" asked, it seems, Kenneth Neilberg also in Stockholm if he were willing to do the hit with the same assurances for 1,000,000 SEK.
When neither took up the offers, Morgan apparently went to London, seeking out an assassin, as Duncan Campbell belatedly explained in a Frontlines article, "MI6, Whistleblowers in Baltic Battle," in the New Statesman:
Shortly after Palme was killed, I was told by three independent sources that recruiters for the killing -variously described as a group of Swedish businessman, with Finns and Germans also involved, possibly financed by a South African group, had approached mercenaries and arms dealers in London in order to find a suitable 'hitman'. All the sources agreed that the former SAS (Special Air Service) and other possible killers approached had turned down the contract, and had then passed details of the approaches to Special Branch or to MI6 contacts. In turn, MI6 passed a warning to Sapo (SAK), the Swedish secret police. One source said that the purpose of the killing was to destabilise Sweden and its powerful liberal stance on such matters as apartheid. A senior Special Branch, Detective Chief Inspector David Palmer-Hall, liases directly with the Secret Intelligence Service. (MI6) A former Special Branch commander, Rollo Watts, also works for Saldin (sic) Security, the cover company for the private British mercenary service KMS Ltd. KMS which is registered in Jersey was most recently and controversially used by Colonel Oliver North to assist in guerrilla missions with Contra forces in Nicaragua. (June 17, 1988, p. 7)
Whatever Morgan, and Campbell's sources were attempting, the failure to find a mercenary to do the hit provided the perfect deception, it seems, for an officially-connected KMS one, with a built-in alibi.
While North worked out arrangements with CIA and MI6 to connect a suitable scapegoat, apparently Soviet spy Stig Bergling who was being groomed as the disgruntled party policeman, for the killing in Stockholm with Operation Courtship, making it look as if Moscow was behind the murder because of the countermeasures it took so that the US Navy and NATO could mete out a devastating first strike against the Soviets in reprisal, KMS arranged a fatal "double bluff" at Palme's expense the next time it reassessed the performance of his bodyguards in Stockholm. Connor has supplied a discrete history - no names, please - of how British forces got involved in training, and reassessing Swedish bodyguard protection of its leading figures, especially the statsminister, in just the way Walker wanted of complete secrecy. (p. 153ff.)
Sweden's Granskning Kommission has filled in without realizing it many of the details about the reassessment team which started working from its just constructed shed outside Palme's apartment in the Old Town two days before the assassination while the statsminister was on a visit to Hede, Sveg, and Ostersund in the far north. Witnesses testified about seeing two or three professional-looking men with walkie-talkies who spoke a kind of Swiss-German, just what a reassessment would be doing.
Jarl N spoke of seeing a dangerous-looking man down the street at the pharmacy, speaking so to a colleague: "He was 185-190 cm. tall, and had pale colored hair" (Brottsutredningen after mordet pa statsminister Olof Palme, p. 250), testimony that witnesses Mare R and Leif C corroborated. The reason why the commission did not take their testimony more seriously was because of the confusion about who uses walkie-talkies in assassinations, and because the witnesses had been so slow in coming forward with it. They, unlike the reassessment team, did not know the location of where the Palmes lived, and thought, like most people, that assassins needed walkie-talkies. Bodyguards and their reassessors need them.
In this context, it was easy for one of the reassessors to kill the statsminister after he had monitored the performance of the bodyguards for a couple of days. On February 27th, North was so ecstatic about possibilities from Operation Recovery that he sent a Prof message to McFarlane, exclaiming "that we may well be on the verge of a major breakthrough - not only on the hostages/terrorism but on the relationship as a whole." (Quoted from Walsh, p. 121.) The NSA replied: "Roger,Ollie. Well done - if the world only knew how many times you have kept a semblance of integrity and gumption to US policy, they would make you Secretary of State. But they can't know and would complain if they did - such is the state of democracy in the late 20th century." (Quoted from Cannon, p. 572.) Litte wonder that when the scandal broke, North tried to destroy all the Prof messages, and Cannon and Walsh have minimized respectively what he was attempting, and McFarlane's reaction.
The blondish, 185-190 cm. tall reassessor would have a cakewall the following evening after all his stalking the statsminister when the Palmes attended the Grand Cinema on Sveavagen to see the movie Mozart, what Geraghty's military intelligence expert claimed was a "night on the town" (p. 388), the statsminister's alleged illicit pleasure which helped do him in like North Yemen's President. Teheran was so upset by Palme's stopping the November missile shipments, putting the lie to all American claims that only Portugal was involved, as Reeves explained on the anniversary of the assassination, now that the Tower Commission had safely covered it up: "An Iranian military delegation came to Stockholm to protest the stopping of deliveries. That was on Feb. 4, 1986, three weeks before Palme's murder." (p. 56)
This gave the reassessor an absolute alibi for the assassination, explaining also why the statsminister seemed to recognize him before he shot him, and why his wife's first reaction to the shooting was thus: "It emerged at the weekend that Mrs. Palme had noticed two men acting strangely outside their house and watching their door, but she had not reported it to the police." (Martin Linton, "Few clues in the hunt for Palme's killer," The Guardian, March 2, 1986, p. 1) Unfortunately, by then, the police had been primed to look for Khomeneini's Iranians settling scores with the statsminister.
Fortunately, though, the operations North had arranged went no further, thanks particularly to the spying by Ames and Hanssen for the Soviets which tipped them off about the timing of Palme's assassination, thanks to Oleg Gordievsky's briefing of the former in February, and there is no need now to follow the whole shabby story. Its leading items were the diversions at Libya's expense, Reagan's presents for Iranian Speaker Ali Rafsanjani in May, and the President's thanking Gordievsky in the Oval Office for what he had done! (Christopher Andrew, For the President's Eyes Only, pp. 476-7)
Things only got interesting again for North when the scandal could be exposed after the shootdown, and Reagan forced North and NSA Poindexter to resign, asking crony Attorney General Edwin Meese to investigate the matter without the help of the Bureau or the Justice Department. While he cautiously did so, North and his people were busily destroying evidence, and creating a false chronology which would protect the President - leaving out the attempt to sneak the HAWK missiles through Stockholm. (Cannon, p. 611ff.) McFarlane intensified the process by attempting suicide in February 1987. (Timberg, pp. 425-9) Then Congress granted immunity to the main principals, starting with North, and Independent Counsel Walsh, when he finally got started, continued the process, especially with his assistant Earl, and secretary Fawn Hall (Walsh, p. 99ff.), making any serious convictions most unlikely. Ultimately, even Poindexter was not convicted of perjury and obstructing justice, the verdict being thrown out on appeal.
During all this confusion, behind the scenes the Senate Intelligence Committee was determining the scope of the conspiracy, the Tower Commission informed the public of a sanitized version of it, and the joint Select Committee on Secret Military Assistance to Iran publicized it, what its leading Senators William S. Cohen and George Mitchell legitimized in their book, Men of Zeal: A Candid Inside Story of the Iran-Contra Hearings. Cohen was the connecting link in the whole process, centered around the Senator from Texas, and Vietnam hawk, Tower, who had helped cover up the JFK assassination, and was equally committed to the men of zeal he had collected around him while serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee. While Cohen claimed he was involved in a "comprehensive search for the truth" (p. 21), he was actually engaged in legitimizing the false chronology, covering up the attempt to sneak the HAWK missiles through Sweden, and getting Reagan to minimize the problem by admitting that suppying arms for the release of hostages was wrong. (David E. Rosenbaum, "Senator Says Reagan Must Face 'Mistake'," The New York Times, Jan. 13, 1987, A8; and Jan. 15, A12)
Cohen's efforts, though, were seriously undercut by the book's own chronology of events, where there was a gaping hole between the Nov. 17th meeting that McFarlane had with Chief of Staff Donald Regan to inform him of the trouble over the missile shipment, what North recruited Secord to fix the next day, and the actual delivery of 18 HAWK missiles a week later (p. xxii). Then there was a most confusing rigmorole about Portugal being the only country in question, though the White House refused to declassify the names of countries which actually supplied arms to the Contras, causing Cohen and Mitchell to refer to them only by number (p. ix), Sweden apparently being "Country Six", only for them to discuss in detail Dewey Clarridge's role in trying to dragoon Portugal into the process (pp. 255-6).
This use of numbers to hide the truth proved so successful that Walsh even adopted it when Judge Webster, now the new DCI, was smoothly smothering any chance of the truth coming out. Director Webster, of course, knew all about Iran-Contra, thanks to his paving the way for North to use Walker's firms, and by his refusing to allow the FBI to get involved in their operations for fear it would commit illegal acts just when Palme was assassinated. (Mark Riebling, Wedge, pp. 368-9) While Webster, by Washington's standards, had a squeaky-clean reputation, Reagan, once the attempt to simply slip Gates into the deceased Casey's place failed, had moved him to head the troubled Agency to limit the fallout from Iran-Contra, what he had already helped by allowing Meese, of all people, to secure the evidence, and by slowing the process of disclosure of the little left as the cover up was being assembled. (Walsh, pp. 147-8)
Finally, it was a question if Webster's team at CIA would supply Walsh with the last remaining evidence that NSA had about North's operations, buggings, and FLASH messages, especially the NSA tapes about weapons shipments, what McFarlane had put the highest priority on destroying when the scandal broke. (Walsh, p. 8) Walsh needed the tapes to establish the criminality of Fernandez, what the Independent Counsel hoped to achieve at a Sunday, July 23, 1989, meeting with DCI Webster, DDCI Robert Kerr, and DO Richard Stolz, Webster's classmate at Amherst (Riebling, p. 389), who was already involved in collecting money for Fernandez's defence. When the Agency seemed to be wavering on the matter, Stolz exclaimed: "What will they think in Olso?" (Quoted from Walsh, p. 216.)
While Walsh thought the comment irrelevant, it concerned the NSA eavesdropping facility at Vardo on Norway's North Cape. Release of any of its material would be a precedent for a flood which could swamp far more than just the Reagan administration. For starters, it had the crucial tape of the flight of the 80 HAWK missiles which Palme's government stopped in mid-transit on November 17, 1985. Without the tapes, Walsh opted for a system of cards identifying each CIA station and facility being discussed with a number so jurors could keep track of the testimony, a procedure that the judge dismissed as a "kindergarten-like proposal" (Walsh, p. 17), and Attorney General Richard Thornburgh refused by remedy by allowing the necessary classified information to be introduced in court.
While no one had noticed, London had been doing what was necessary to cover up its side of the scandal. As the above long quotation indicated, Duncan Campbell was most knowledgeable about the 'special relationship' between Britain and America, and their joint operations, thanks to his coverage of the counterterrorism Britain was conducting in Northern Ireland. (Mark Urban, UK Eyes Alpha, p. 56) No sooner had Campbell, a thorn in the establishment's side, started questioning Defence officials, and Public Accounts Committee chairman Robert Sheldon, brother of Legal Adviser to DGSS Duff, about an independent satellite system free from NSA's vagaries (ZIRCON), especially in the wake of the Challenger disaster, for his BBC television series, Secret Society, than Prime Minister Thatcher had it banned. When Campbell persisted in his efforts, publishing an article in the New Statesman, she instructed Attorney General Michael Havers to issue an injunction against his writing any more, and to have Special Branch raid the Glasgow offices of the BBC, and the Labour journal in London for tapes and papers about what was in the pipeline "...to protect the intelligence services from journalistic scrutiny, even if the politcal cost was high." (Urban, p. 61)
While this gagging of the press was tightening, British intelligence services arranged the set-up in Sweden of a person resembling the description by the above mentioned witnesses, and the Photo-Fit representation of the killer by the witnesses of the assassination - apparently Captain Simon Hayward aka James Rennie, officially a member of the Household Cavalry but actually the Operations Officer of the 14 Intelligence Company's South Detachment. Hayward left Northern Ireland on February 12, 1987, and five days later he departed England for the fateful 'holiday' with his brother Chris in the Mediterranean. Once Hayward was safely put away in Sweden, Ruth Freeman apparently aka Simon Freeman, who had just written The Secret Life of Anthony Blunt, published Death of a Statesman, thanks, it seems, to MI5 funding (N. b. that he was a roving foreign correspondent, 1986-89, Contemporary Authors, vol. 133, p. 132.), explaining the assassination in such self-serving terms for the beleaguered Captain that anyone would suspect him if the trumped up case against Swedish and PKK scapegoats broke down.
Right after the assassination, a British consultant and MI6 operative, apparently Gordievsky, had gone to Stockholm, and told publisher and owner of a private intelligence company Ebbe Carlsson, and the two Sapo officers, who had bugged the KGB residency on the night of Palme's assassination on the instruction of the CIA Stockholm station chief Jenonne Walker, that the Iranians had arranged for the PKK to kill the statsminister because of his stoppage of weapons shipments, starting in November 1985. (Jesus Alcala, "Polisen ville tro pa PKK-sparet," Dagens Nyheter, Feb. 28, 1996) MI6, knowing now the safety in numbers, had the same operative, it seems, tell his friend Karl-Gunnar Back, the Swedish Chairman of Civil Defence, that mercenary Craig Williamson had arranged the assassination hit-team, Koevoet/COIN, for disgrunted groups within the Swedish and South African security services (Operation Longreach). (Roger Magnegard and Mari Sandstrom, "Sydafrika planlade mordet," Svensk Dagbladet, May 27, 1987, p. 7.)
Needless to say, the Swedish police investigated these leads conscientiously, once they had disposed of the Agency-supplied decoy Victor Gunnarsson as a suspect, but they never got anywhere. Hans Holmer, who was leading the investigation, was so obsessed with the idea that PKK had done it that he had to be sacked. MI6 was unable or unwilling to suppy any more information. As a result, Swedish Ministers of Justice, particularly Anna-Greta Leijon, and interested citizens, especally Ebbe Carlsson, became increasingly frustrated, the former finally instructing the latter on May 4, 1988, to go to London behind the police's back on a secret mission to see if he could develop more information about the assassination from "the relevant British Authority." (Campbell, op. cit.) No sooner had Carlsson arrived than his letter of introduction was leaked to the press, touching off what Duncan Campbell called Sweden's 'Contragate' - a private network pursuing its own agenda at the expense of established practice, and the public interest. Exploiting Ms. Leijon's belief that the British really knew who killed Palme, and they did, according to Campbell, what her own police were apparently failing to take advantage of, the Brits were able to turn the tables completely on Stockholm, and Campbell was permitted to publish the results.
In the end, Walsh considered prosecuting North again after his first conviction had been thrown out because it was based upon immunized testimony, leading to a showdown between the Independent Counsel and the former NSC staffer. By then, the three most dangerous witnesses of his operations, Nir, Major Charles McKee, and the CIA's Matthew Gannon, had been killed in sabotaged airplanes - Ben-Menashe had Gene "Chip" Tatum, who has now disappeared, shoot down the Cessna T-210 Nir was flying in over Morelia, Mexico on Nov. 30,1988, while McKee and Gannon were on board Pan Am Flight103 which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, a few weeks later. Nir's problem was that he had recorded a conversation with Vice President Bush at Jerusalem's King David Hotel on July 29, 1986 about Iran-Contra, which McKee, and Gannon witnessed, and what he threatened to reveal at North's trial.
According to Joel Bainerman, the publisher of an Israeli intelligence report who had questioned another witness, a Navy Commander, of the conversation, "North told him," Thomas repeated, "that Nir was killed because he threatened to go public with the recording of the Jerusalem meeting." (Quoted from p. 316.) McKee, Gannon, and three other CIA agents apparently fell afoul of arms dealer al-Kassar's independent operations in their attempt to set up a new hostage rescue mission. According to Interfor's investigation into the tragedy, al-Kassar's masters blew up the airliner before McKee's team could blow the whistle on them, thanks to the bungling by German police at Frankfurt's airport, and CIA managers at Langley. (Jonathan Vankin and John Whelan, The 60 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time, p. 280ff.) Gannon, whose father-in-law was CIA's Tom Twetten who had served as the Agency's liaison with North on the NSC (Ted Gup, The Book of Honor, p. 314), was simply trying to clean up the whole Iran-Contra mess as neatly as possible, but only got killed in the process.
The whole question about a retrial concerned what would appear in North's memoir, Under Fire: An American Life, the title and anticipated substance most reminiscent of the British Army's counterterrorist specialist Captain Simon Hayward's Under Fire: My Own Story. While North's manuscript was still being prepared in October 1991, largely being ghost-written by William Novak who wrote Nancy Reagan's memoirs, the text would turn on what North meant by "diversion", and "the secret within a secret". North told reporter George Lardner that Reagan approved the diversion of profits to the Contras, and directed him and Poindexter to take the blame in order to divert attention away from everything else the President and his advisors knew and approved of. ("North: Reagan 'Knew Everything' ," The Washington Post, Oct. 20, 1991, A, 4:1) Their darkest secrets apparently concerned the 1985 arms shipments to Iran, the 'findings' to justify it, the false chronology to cover it up, etc.
Three days later, Walsh dropped all charges against North (Lloyd Grove, "In From Cold," ibid., Oct. 23, 1991, B, 1:4), and he reciprocated in kind with the first installation of his book for Time by claiming that the diversions, the secret within a secret, and the false chronology were merely to protect the diversion of the $12,000,000 in profits to the Contras the following April. "The secret within a secret" turned out to be the Iranians not getting the weapons they bargained for in November 1985, at the fair, market price, and the illicit profits going to the enemies of their allies, the Sandinistas. ( "Reagan Knew Everything," Time, Oct. 28, pp. 47-8)North's most serious offenses, it seems, were to put his hand in the till to help pay for a car (Walsh, pp. 201-2), and to build a security fence around his house to protect his family from the likes of Abu Nidal! ("Notes & Amends," Eye Spy!, Issue Nine, p. 4) North, instead of being the chief plotter, turned out to be, it seems, just another target of the so-called Palestinian hitman.
In sum, Iran-Contra turned out to be a far lesser crisis than Watergate, thanks to the complete separation of the effective counterintelligence and countermeasures that the Soviets had taken to save themselves (Riebling, p. 430ff.) from the comprehensive cover-ups that the Americans and the British had mounted to trivialize North's operations (pp. 367-412), what President Bush completed by pardoning everyone else, except Poindexter, just before he left office.

Just came across some info that Carl Bildt's father grew up next to Olof Palme. Curious...

In searching for a different thing I came across with a recent interview with Sten Lindstrom, a police investigator and whistleblower about the Bofors-India affair 25 years ago. It may not be directly related to the murder of Olof Palme, but it opens a view into the Sweden of that time.
(from http://thehoot.org/web/home/story.php?storyid=5884&mod=1&pg=1&sectionId=1)

By the way, there are claims that the material sent from Sweden to India may have included weapons grade Uranium 235. I cannot verify that.

The Bofors story, 25 years after
“I knew what I was doing when I leaked the documents to you. I could not count on my government or Bofors or the government of India to get to the bottom of this.” STEN LINDSTROM explains why he chose to turn whistleblower to CHITRA SUBRAMANIAM-DUELLA
Posted/Updated Tuesday, Apr 24 11:19:37, 2012

April 2012 marks the 25 anniversary of the Bofors-India media revelations, which began on April 16, 1987 with revelations on Swedish state radio. The Hoot presents an interview with the man who decided to leak over 350-documents to former Indian journalist Chitra Subramaniam-Duella, then with The Hindu and later with The Indian Express and The Statesman. The documents included payment instructions to banks, open and secret contracts, hand written notes, minutes of meetings and an explosive diary. They led to the electoral defeat of an Indian prime minister and blew gaping holes into a Swedish prime minister’s record as a champion of peace and disarmament. Above all, they formed the basis for the first ever transfer of secret bank documents from Switzerland to India.

Sten Lindstrom is the former head of Swedish police who led the investigations into the Bofors-India gun deal. In an interview to Subramaniam-Duella, he reveals himself as the Swedish Deep Throat and explains why he chose to turn whistleblower.

Q - Why did you decide to identify yourself now?

A – Twenty five years is a good land-mark. We have had some time for reflection. Now it is time to speak again. Corruption levels in the world are increasing. There is new business around corruption with companies selling products that measure corruption instead of questioning why it is there in the first place. In a world of shrinking resources and ruthless ambition, we have to ensure that survival instincts that brought us out of the caves do not push us back in there because of a few greedy people. I hope I can contribute to the global struggle against corruption by sharing what I know.

Q – Tell us something about yourself.

A – Like many Swedes of my generation, my wife Eva and I were raised in the best traditions of social-democracy. Swedes are a hard-working people. Equity and justice for all is something we hold dear and for which we have strived as a nation. We built our institutions, our political and social systems around principles that were gold standards. We led the world as much in business forums as in the social arena.

Q – Nostalgia?

A – No, I base myself on hard evidence that is even more relevant today than it was 25 years ago. We are still world leaders in many fields, but somewhere our guiding principles have fallen by the wayside. No one is against successful businesses and it can be done. Here in Sweden we have the Wallenbergs, in India you have the TATA group. These are global companies and institutions. Their business ethics and corporate social responsibility work is not a slide on a power-point. It is generations of hard work. Bofors was a good company. Their products were good. Unfortunately in the race to expand business, they resorted to illegal shipments, bribery and corruption. They claimed a tax-deduction for the money they had to pay as bribes.

In my long career as a police officer I have seen many things. What was shocking in the whole Bofors-India saga was the scale of political involvement in Sweden breaking all rules including those we set for ourselves. Bofors was a wake-up call for most Swedes who thought corruption happens only far away in Africa, South America and Asia. There was disbelief and hurt when they found that some of their top politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen were no better than others. The $1.3 billion deal with India for the sale of 410 field howitzers, and a supply contract almost twice that amount was the biggest arms deal ever in Sweden. Money marked for development projects was diverted to secure this contract at any cost. Rules were flouted, institutions were bypassed and honest Swedish officials and politicians were kept in the dark. Our former Prime Minister Olof Palme was talking peace, disarmament and sustainable development globally, while we were selling arms illegally, including to countries that were on our banned list. My office, the office of Hans Ekblom, the public prosecutor in Stockholm, our National Audit Bureau – everything was ignored. So was the Swedish tax-payer.

The Managing Director of Bofors Martin Ardbo had worked very hard for this deal. He brought over 900 jobs to Karlskoga where Bofors is headquartered for atleast a decade. When the stories started appearing Ardbo was a shaken man. He knew that I knew that he had made a political payment even more secretly than the rest to close this deal. He told me he didn’t have a choice.

Q – How did the India angle in Bofors crop-up?

A – It was an accident. We were conducting several search and seize operations in the premises of Bofors and their executives. I have some experience in this area, so I asked my team to take everything they could find. In the pile were one set of documents to Swiss banks with instructions that the name of the recipient should be blocked out. An accountant doing his job asked why anonymity was necessary since the payments were legal. Bofors was unable to explain and then we found more and more documents leading to India.

Q – Looking back, what would you say are some of the lessons learnt?

A – There are several, but I could mention a few. The role of the whistle-blower is a part of democracy. When all official channels are clogged, you have to take a decision. We have a culture here that it is okay to blow the whistle. I have met other whistle blowers. I knew what I was doing when I leaked the documents to you. I could not count on my government or Bofors or the government of India to get to the bottom of this. My only option was to leak the documents to someone we could trust.

There needs to be a free and fair discussion in the media about itself. The media is the watchdog of our society – but who is watching the media? Most whistle blowers around the world leak information to the media because they feel they owe it to their country, their job or the position they are elected to.

Genuine whistle-blowers also expect the media to be responsible and according to me this means that the media has to understand the motives of whistle-blowers. Not everyone is driven by the same motive. This is where investigative journalism comes in. Every role has its limits. I cannot become a journalist, a journalist cannot become a judge and a judge cannot become a politician. Who controls the media, what are their interests? What happens if a reporter is also part of the management? Do journalistic ethics compete with business and political interests of the media organisation? Can an ombudsman be the answer? If not, let us all work together globally to find a solution we all respect and understand.

There is also a lot of debate in the world about the role of middlemen in arms deals. Some say they should not exist at all, others say they have a role. I believe they have a role insofar as marketing a product is concerned and they should be remunerated accordingly in a transparent way so that the cost to the buyer is not circulated as kickbacks. Where it becomes illegal and dangerous is when the ambit of their work includes paying politicians and bureaucrats and in some cases journalists to push their product. Once you are in their clutches, it is very difficult to extricate yourself.

Q – What is your view on Wikileaks?

A – All leaks have a motive and they play a role. Wikileaks went up to a point and it is welcome. I have not seen many instances of journalists or governments taking the leaks further to the next level. It is not enough for journalists to ask questions. In their privileged positions as watchdogs, they have to take the leaks further without fear or favour.

Q – With time and distance, how do you view your leaks?

A – I believe I did the best I could. I watched you work for almost one year before I took my decision to leak the Bofors-India documents to you. You were one of many journalists from India and Sweden as well as many politicians from India who visited me during this period. I was lectured to and told how to do my job. Many mentioned Rajiv Gandhi’s involvement and that the guns were duds hoping I would react. I am used to these tricks. I told everyone the guns were excellent. The problem was in the procurement process.

People trust people. Trust is built over time. The one and only visit by your former editor N. Ram of The Hindu to my office in whose presence I handed over the documents is a detail. I would have leaked the documents to you even if you had worked for any other newspaper.

The Hindu’s role in all this was that of a medium of communication. I met them because you insisted. I was disappointed. They published the documents as and when they wanted without any respect for the risks other people were taking to get the facts out.

The most explosive documents that involved the political payments were Ardbo’s notes and diary. The Hindu published them several months after they had them. In the meantime there was a serious difficulty. I got a message that my name was circulating in Delhi’s political circles as the whistleblower. This caused a lot of stress and difficulty for me. You will recall the month you were not allowed to call me while we investigated who leaked my name as the whistle-blower in India. There were consequences for me and my family. The Hindu seemed unconcerned.

Q – Any regrets?

A – No. I took an informed decision to give you the documents. But I will say this much - when newspapers think they are more important than the story, journalism suffers. When editors cross their limits, it can be dangerous.

Q - Tell us something about those days, people’s reactions, your difficulties.

A - People in Sweden were shell-shocked. Bo G Andersson of the Dagens Nyhetter (DN), Burje Remdahl and Jan Mosander of the Swedish Radio are investigative journalists of repute. They were exposing illegal sales of arms to eastern Europe, the middle-east, even Vietnam through Australia. There was total disbelief in Karlskoga. The Indian deal was the straw that broke the camel’s back because it showed that corruption had reached right to the top in Sweden and in India. They were very brazen about it. There was no evidence of any bribe being paid to Palme, but he and some of his ministers knew exactly what was going on.

Q- Quarter century later, any reflections on why Rajiv Gandhi’s name came up?

A– There was no evidence that he had received any bribe. But he watched the massive cover-up in India and Sweden and did nothing. Many Indian institutions were tarred, innocent people were punished while the guilty got away. The evidence against Ottavio Quattrrocchi was conclusive. Through a front company called A.E. Services, bribes paid by Bofors landed in Quattrocchi’s account which he subsequently cleaned out because India said there was no evidence linking him to the Bofors deal. Nobody in Sweden or Switzerland was allowed to interrogate him.

Ardbo was terrified about this fact becoming public. He had hidden it even from his own marketing director Hans Ekblom who said marketing middlemen had a role, but not political payments. Ardbo was also concerned about the role of Arun Nehru who had told Bofors in 1985 that his name and Rajiv Gandhi’s name should not appear anywhere. As the stories began to appear, Ardbo knew what I knew. He had written in his notes that the identity of N (Nehru) becoming public was a minor concern but at no cost could the identity of Q (Quattrocchi) be revealed because of his closeness to R (Rajiv Gandhi). He had also mentioned a meeting between an A.E. Services official and a Gandhi trustee lawyer in Geneva. This was a political payment. These payments are made when the deal has to be inked and all the numbers are on the table. I spent long-hours interrogating Ardbo. He told me Nehru was the eminence grise but not much more. He said often that he would take the truth with him to his grave. I met him a little while before he passed away.

Under pressure from Swedish and Indian media and with the threat of a cancellation of the contract hanging over them, Bofors sent its top executives to India with the one-point task of giving out the names. Nobody of any consequence received them.

Q– What was your experience with the Indian investigators?

A – The only team I met in early 1990 damaged the seriousness of my work and the media investigation. I met them on a courtesy call. They were in the process of filing a letter-rogatory (LR) in Switzerland. Without an official request from Switzerland, Sweden could not intervene. They gave me a list of names to pursue including the name of Amitabh Bachchan. They also told me they did not trust you entirely because you had refused to link the Bachchans to the kickbacks. During that trip to Sweden, the Indian investigators planted the Bachchan angle on DN. The Bachchan’s took them to court in the UK and won. DN had to apologise and they said the story had come from Indian investigators. I was disappointed with the role of many senior journalists and politicians during that period. They muddied the waters.

After the LR was lodged in Switzerland, I was waiting for the official track with India and Switzerland to begin. It never did. Whenever the public prosecutor Ekblom and I heard of any Indian visits to Stockholm, we would speak to the media expressing our desire to meet them. Can you imagine a situation where no one from India met the real investigators of the gun deal? That was when we saw the extent to which everyone was compromised. Many politicians who had come to my office claiming they would move heaven and earth to get at the truth if they came to power, fell silent when they held very important positions directly linked to the deal.

Q – Any final thoughts?

A – There cannot be final thoughts on something like this. False closures of corruption bleed the system. Every day has to matter. When something like the scale and violence of Bofors happens, you begin to question your own faith as a professional and a human being. When you start losing faith, you begin to lose hope. When hope is lost, everything is lost. We cannot afford to let that happen. Maybe we will get nowhere, but silence cannot be the answer.

130 persons have confessed that they murdered Palme. That alone should tell us something......Deep! Peterson was not one who confessed, but was the first patsy chosen. Since, many other patsies and just plain publicity-seeking nuts - along with intelligence-related false sponsors and patsies have, as well.

North was involved, and he knows the outlines, possibly the intimate details, but he was NOT the MAIN MAN involved [did not set it in motion]. He was just playing 'good fascist soldier', if at a rather high level [within COG].

IMO, the assassination of Palme rates 'way up there' in importance Worldwide [and for untangling the Gordian Knot of Worldwide Spookdom]. Only perhaps JFK, King, RFK, and a handful of others outside of the USA are of equal or greater import. None are more important than his for the Swedes; who, as was pointed out have changed since - which was the purpose of the assassination! Had Palme not been assassinated, for example, Assange would not be in fear of stepping foot there now for trumped-up sex 'crimes', and inevitable rendition to Guantanamo - or equivalent. All under the rubric of COG and the 'war on terror'.

Look at the Swedish Gladio network to better understand! (http://www.danieleganser.ch/assets/files/Inhalte/Publikationen/Fachzeitschriften/Journals JIPSS_Ganser_Deland_Sweden_November2010.pdf) [IMO, A VERY IMPORTANT ARTICLE!!!!]...but they had 'help' from their 'Big Brothers' in the U. SS. A. They are now a client nation...as they were during WWII [all of their claims to 'neutrality' being as phony as the alleged condom purposely ripped by Assange].

Metropolitan police passes information to authorities in Sweden about killing of Olof Palme in 1986
Eva Rausing (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/eva-rausing), who was found dead in July at the London home she shared with her husband, an heir to the TetraPak fortune, had passed on information about the unsolved 1986 murder of Swedish prime minister Olof Palme, Swedish prosecutors have revealed.
Scotland Yard confirmed on Tuesday night that it had given information to authorities in Sweden (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/sweden), where investigators are now reported as wanting to question Hans Kristian Rausing (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/hans-kristian-rausing) as a possible witness about the information his wife claimed to have obtained.
A Swedish author who has written two books on the Palme killing said Mrs Rausing first contacted him in June 2011. She claimed she had learned that Palme had been killed by an entrepreneur who feared the politician was a threat to his business.
The author, Gunnar Wall (http://www.gunnarwall.se/), said he had engaged in email correspondence with Rausing, who told him she had written to the businessman on three occasions about the allegations. In one email to Wall she wrote: "Don't forget to investigate if I should suddenly die! Just joking, I hope."
Wall told the Guardian: "When her emails stopped, I did not think too much about it, until I heard that she had died in circumstances that were unclear."
"She also told me that she was going to inform the prosectors in Sweden and it seemed like she had some arrangement to meet them."
Hans Kristian Rausing was given a 10-month suspended custodial sentence earlier this month (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/10367712) after admitting preventing the lawful burial of his wife, a fellow drug addict. Rausing kept her body hidden at their home in Belgravia, London, for two months under a pile of clothing and bin bags.
Sweden's Dagens Nyheter newspaper (http://www.dn.se/nyheter/sverige/eva-rausings-mejl-om-palmemordet-1)says British police found information regarding Palme's murder when they searched Eva's computer.
Kerstin Skarp, Sweden's deputy prosecutor general, said: "I can confirm that Eva Rausing contacted the Palme investigators and that we have received information from the British authorities. I cannot disclose any other information about the status of the investigation."
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We are in the possession of information that we have sent on to the Swedish authorities."
Palme was shot by a single assailant in central Stockholm on the evening of 28 February 1986, while walking home from the cinema with his wife Lisbeth.
A Social Democrat, he was a strong critic of the Vietnam war, earning Washington's wrath, was a mediator to end the Iran-Iraq war, and was active in the South African anti-apartheid struggle.
Palme's wife identified the gunman as Christer Pettersson, a petty criminal, and he was given a life sentence by a district court. However, the appeal court later ruled that her eyewitness account was not credible and released him. Pettersson later confessed to a newspaper, only to retract his statements, and died in 2004. Other suspects have included Kurdish militantsand the South African and Yugoslav secret services.

she had learned that Palme had been killed by an entrepreneur who feared the politician was a threat to his business.....

Well, would love to know what she knew or heard....and if that led to her death....but AN entrepreneur I don't buy....maybe a whole group of munitions and similar 'entrepreneurS' connected to the MIC+ of several nations....maybe then we get closer.

One of the active players [though not the only] at the time was called the 'Enterprise' and was seen [iceberg tip only] in Iran-Contra Hearings. The ONLY Swedish company that could even be vaguely considered as upset enough to participate [and did, IMO] was Bofors - Sweden's big munitions firm that was selling arms for the Enterprise to Iran and Contras at that time. In fact, Palme was about to chastise them publicly, as it was against Swedish law - he never got the chance...[I]how odd a coincidence. These two entities were NOT the only ones involved - but both were.

A new 843 pg. book on the assassination of Olof Palme - COUP D'ETAT IN SLOW MOTION: THE MURDER OF OLOF PALME - was published a few weeks ago by Swedish journalist Ole Dammegard. Dammegard has decided to release his book for free online and is accepting Paypal donations on his site if anyone cares to reimburse him, but the book in its entirety is free.

Dammegard's website is here -

and his site offers a quick and easy download of the book. An hour long interview with Dammegard is below. (The interview doesn't begin till one and a half minutes in, so skip the flashy opening credits of the radio show if you find them disagreeable).

I use to live in Stockholm and other locations in Skandinavia. I've done a fair share of research on Palme and met the two persons I consider the best experts I knew on the events [one Danish, one Finnish - strangely none Swedish!]. I just downloaded the book and am speed-reading it to see if it is worth reading at normal speed. I was beginning to think not...that it was only a very good ACCOUNT of the history of the very flawed investigations [purposely flawed, mind you!]...until I came to page 313 and saw the 'Bofors Connection'....maybe this book has possibilities. Bofors was selling secretly arms to Iran [illegal by Swedish law] as part of the [yet unknown Iran-Contra Op].....I'll have more to say after I read more......

involved with the Palme murder were: Charles Morgan has later been identified as exiled Cuban, Felipe Vidal Santiago, [know in the JFK community as DSM]
directly involved in the J.F.K. assassination as the man standing waving just in front
of the so-called Umbrella Man, his friend, the mercenary Roy Hargraves, whose task
it was to mark the exact point for the different shooters to start firing..................

I know more on Hargraves I won't give out until the 50th....as I'd like to live, at least that long.:spy::spy:

Even in 'liberal' Sweden there are the same sort of cops as in the Brazil who feel it is their appointed duty to go around cleansing the streets of the street children and other unfortunates. Perhaps some of these Swedish cops also felt that Olaf Palme should be cleansed from the Streets of Sweden too. Carl-Gustav Ă–stling and Anti Avsan worked in this group and were identified at the scene of the assassination. Swenglish translations follow.

Baseballigan is the nickname of a group of police officers in Stockholm Police Guard District 1 on Norrmalm (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norrmalm) as the beginning of the 1980s, was accused of using excessive violence and harassment in their official capacity. The name comes from the police officers in question, preferring to appear in civilian clothes with a baseball cap as headgear, instead of a uniform.

Stockholm County Police Commissioner Hans Holmer (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Holm%C3%A9r) had in 1982 set up four street violence groups to deal with the increasing street violence in central Stockholm. Within Guard District 1 was created two groups of them came to be distinguished by controversial methods. Criticism from the public and colleagues focused on the group used harsh methods and abused the ability to use civilian clothes at the arrests. The groups began their work in March 1982 and was dissolved at the end of 1982 to 1983. [1] (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseballigan#cite_note-1)
The officers who participated in the controversial street violence group also came afterwards that usually work together as field officers.[2] (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseballigan#cite_note-2)

On June 28, 1982 were taken into custody a 39-year-old, Rolf Machnow, because of intoxication at the Sergel's Square (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergels_torg) in Stockholm.Machnow transferred to a omhändertaganderum at the Central Station (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-centralen) . During the stay in the room were judged Machnows conditions be such that an ambulance was called. After being driven to Sabbatsberg hospital (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabbatsbergs_sjukhus) in an ambulance was found at 18.15 to Machnow died. The two officers were present in the room said that Machnow self inflicted to his injuries by falling and hitting his head. The preliminary investigation against the two policemen were discontinued 1983rd Both the Police and the Labour Court (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbetsdomstolen) decided not to make the two officers responsible for the death. Skeppsholmen case

After the group disbanded street violence continued policemen from the controversial street violence group to patrol the area police. In October 1983, six of them policemen patrolled by a picket bus and then picked up a man and sat on his handcuffs, even though he was neither arrested or taken care of. The man later claimed that he was beaten in the bus, which the officers denied. The police also denied handcuffs used. The man ran to a spot at the tip of Skeppsholmen (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeppsholmen) where he was. The police, which in practice was in command, and the driver of the bus picket was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 100 daily fines for each of duress. One of the police officers suspected in connection with Machnowfallet was also charged in relation to this but the indictment was dismissed. What is hidden in the secret documents Palm?

Published September 15, 2010
Palme Commission has after twenty-four years of silence began releasing previously
secret documents relating to police officers who heard about the assassination of
Olof Palme. Not all documents - but some. That is to say the least
sensational and interesting documents!

http://www.proletaren.se/sites/all/themes/proletaren/images/artikelextra-addthis.png (http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php)

The undersigned has the Palme Commission sought out tips / interviews with three key people in the so-called police track - Carl-Gustav Ostling, Anti Avsan and Claes Djurfeldt.
We have since Palme was assassinated on 28 February 1986, written countless articles with cape facing the unresolved police track. The above three officers are central to the events surrounding the murder scene, and we make a brief recapitulation.
A man stands in the corner of Sveavägen / Tunnel Road, just off a bevel where paint shop Dekorima low. Two Finnish women, Anki and Anneli, comes walking north on Sveavägen at 23:20 o'clock (Palme was assassinated at 23:21). They've been to the cinema. Anki has forgotten his watch at home. She wonders what the time is and just then she sees the man at Dekorimahörnet.
Anki know him through the gym as she usually go to. She knows he has a short name and surname and that he speaks Finnish. She decides to go back and ask:
- Hey, you know what time it is?
The man standing with his arms crossed over his chest and Anki see that he has a walkie-talkie in one hand and a revolver in the other.
, it roars to walkie-talkie and she belongs in Finnish:
- Be prepared, they will now.
- I am recognized, what should I do, answer the man.
- Fuck it, do what you should do, he gets in response.
Anki and Anneli leaving the site, uneasy at ease. Just hear those two shots, but quickly moves on into the night.
Carl-Gustav Ostling is the A-turspolis (formerly Basebolligan) at Norrmalm police that deviate without permission from the hospital after an appendectomy. He is of Finnish origin, is pronounced Nazi and extreme right and documented Palm haters.
He is the Stockholm police weapons expert, has a sideline as a broker with a temporary office just where a witness saw the last glimpse of the fleeing killer.
After many incoming tip, a search warrant and then found ammunition with the caliber used in the Palme murder.
Ostling says he is at home on the night of the murder, but has no alibi.
Do we have here the supposed operation leader who tells Dekorimamnnen: "Fuck it, do what you're doing!"?
All sixteen documents must be disclosed in terms Ostling.
Anti Avsan, colleague of Ostling in Norrmalm Police A lucky. He is designated by two Finnish women that the man who is waiting for the couple Palme. When I interviewed police union man on Norrmalm police he said:
Anti Avsan is a bellwether of the worst Nazi of them all in A-Hop!
Avsan is balt, but also speak Finnish. He also has a sideline as arms dealers.
Is he not care that he is recognized and embrace the words: "Fuck it, do what you're doing!"?
It took seven years before the Finnish Hosts story became known. Into the longest tried the then reconnaissance leader, His Ă–lvebro, avoid inviting Avsan of questioning. But eventually the pressure was too hard and interrogated Avsan 1993.
There are at least three tips / interrogations with Anti Avsan - all secret. I do not get anything out. When asked why Palm device responds that it is "on technical grounds" and that it could "hinder the investigation situation in the ongoing investigation."
Today is Anti Avsan in Parliament for the Moderate Party. For this year's election, he stands in fifteenth place on the Stockholm list to parliament.
Claes Djurfeldt, is one of the patrol in picket bus 3230th Patrol have given their service area to perform a "private matter" - they should move one of the men The illegally parked car.
Claes Djurfeldt, the car's owner, is alone while picket bus hidden away in a doorway - this is at the same time as the shots fired at Palm Queen. Here we have a perfect cover-up - it shits itself, they are prepared to intervene while covering the killer's escape route.
Well, what is it for released documents that are sensational? Well, among others, the following two witness statements regarding Ostling previously totally unknown to the media and the Swedish people:
• First quotation from a letter from the 20/7 1988 from the chief prosecutor Ola Nilsson in Malmö with a phone call from a terrified policeman on guard at the District 1 Norrmalm police. The letter is partially masked:
"Approximately six months after the Palme murder was NN officers on a bumper car. He would take a shuttle from the station to the American Embassy. Those who were transported proved Arable Bring [he who arranged meetings with Nazi marching music and voice to extremist circles of the Stockholm police, OM note.] And Ostling. Both were dressed in civilian clothes, excited and sober. They said they knew who the murderer was Palm and it never goes to find out the killer ..
This was said in a crude manner. Both are known to hate Palme. / ... / NN is worried that his name comes out. He has not tordas tell. All in piketen had violent histories at play. They are trained to hunters in the military. It silences the one who sets up and explains. It has happened before. They have good contacts in the police management / ... / In the case of ON NN says that the core of piketen are brown to dark blue. Ostling and Field Bring is the worst. "
• The same day as the Palme Commission may Ola Nilsson letters received another tip from a taxi driver:
"Time as above received phone calls to KCV where notifier claimed to recognize a taxi passenger who them in the newspaper recently published picture of former police officer and arms dealer Ostling.
UL took the night of the murder the aforementioned man along with another man in his 30s at the intersection Master Samuelsgatan / Malmskillnadsgatan (about 400-500 meters away from the murder scene), my note.), UL estimates that this occurred 4-5 minutes after the murder. The run went to Duvnäsgatan. Both appeared nervous and behaved strangely. -
UL has contacted police on two previous occasions, the last half a year ago, but myself have not been contacted. "
This means, if all the documents are disclosed, the Palme Commission neglected to summon Ostling for questioning with regard to the above tips! Have they heard the taxi driver? Or the supplying Norrmalm police?
Should not the lead in the Palme Commission react now when we put the papers in front of them? Call in Ostling on hearings - that's the least we can ask for!
As for the tips / interrogation we got out (all) about Claes Djurfeldt is nothing special coming up that we did not already know. We may, however, black and white that he is the weapon set, the revolver and ammunition that fit the murder weapon at home, right-wing extremist and Palm haters.
And as I said - no tips / interrogation released on Anti Avsan, the designated Decor Imam Annen. We have appealed to the Appeal. Is it just because he is a moderate member of parliament and possible murderer? What is hidden in the secret documents?

Anti is now an MP in the same political party that is currently persecuting Julian Assange and Wikileaks. The 'Progress' Party and its current Prime Minister also have intimate links with Karl Rove and the Bush cabal. It would be of interest to know what cases Anti sat in judgement on while he was a judge after he left the police and before he went in to politics.

Anti Avsan, moderate MP = Decor Imam Annen? (http://perkvist.mpbloggar.se/2010/09/22/anti-avsan-moderat-riksdagsman-dekorimamannen/)

Anti Avsan sitting today in Parliament for the Conservatives since 2006, when he took leave from your judgments job. He is now in Election 2010 on Moderates ballot paper, place the 15th
Anti Avsan, originally. from Estonia, is a former member of baseballigan, one street violence group of civilian police officers who appeared in baseball caps, was the cause of various deaths of homeless people, the group founded by Sthlms County Police Commissioner Hans Holmer. They evolved into A tour picket police. Members härrur later became police chief in Stockholm, Hans Holmer "mounted troops."
Anti Avsan was working at the time of the murder of Palm Addict span.
The reason that he used to be at the gym in Upplands Väsby allegedly (according to hearsay) to have sold steroids. Source: https://www.flashback.org/sp24529598 He trained himself not at the gym, which witnesses at the gym told Olle Alsén, private detectives.
Anti Avsson education after the murder to tingsrättsråd (judge) and is now therefore riksdagman for the Conservatives. Nobody knows where he got the money for his education. He had no student loans, but only one polislön. The police do not care, they do not seem to have bothered the man one iota. Until they gushed about his interrogation. Anti Avsan today want to admit that he was "taken in for questioning." But he had been "asked" and then left his alibi: His wife said he had been at home night of the murder. Not valid excuse therefore.
Anti recognized by two witnesses, "the Finnish girls" as the man who stood at the Dekorimahörnet with walkie talkie and gun innaför gown when girls heard the following conversation on the radio:
"Now comes judgment" (a voice exchange of words in Finnish)
"I am recognized, what do I do?" (Avsan)
"Fuck what you are, do what you will". (Voice, probably Carl Ostergren as well as Avsan also was a member of the Stockholm Defence rifle - and the only one Finnish speakers in this session)
Before this had one girl recognized the man as a person she is often seen in the gym in Upplands Väsby. But she did not know his full name. Just "Anti".
Private Scout Olle Alsén got the hint about these girls out of their associates until 1993, seven years after the murder. They were thus terrified after they understood that they talked to the killer:
"You can tell what time it is" she asks in Finnish, when she recognized him. He did not answer. Then she pulled his t.om. the arm and asked why he did not answer, and when she saw what he had inside the long coat. And became frightened and hurried away. A few seconds later, bang.
They say the girls were reluctant witnesses. Yet, the two sat in a total of eight interviews. They have also been subjected to searches! And they have been subjected to pressure (witness at the police station said that reconnaissance leaders Ă–lvebro scolded one of them so she was very tearful.)
Reach. Now police are allergic to even comment on this gentleman. No one has seen these eight interrogations, then polisnen refuses to release them, and that is precisely why the Anti Avsan be seen as still suspicious. Hardly suitable as a senator.
Police also say at his alibi for that night. "His wife said he was at home." No alibi normally counted in a murder case.
While reconnaissance leader Ă–lvebro say this, so blĂĄnekar ĂĄklagern Anders Helin he knows someone "Avsan". Oops, they were not quite in sync with ...
We take it back:
Prosecutor Anders Helin swear that Anti Avsan NON interrogated, but Anti-A had been heard. And left his wife as an alibi - says while reconnaissance leader His Ă–lvebro.
While Helin deny - gives Ă–lvebro task if Avsans wife. The police thus know very well who they are dealing with. A "colleague".
The Finnish girls have never had to make a witness confrontation, as that Lisbeth had to do. However, they have themselves requested such a confrontation!
They've got to do a picture confrontation, where six images have been presented, but none of them imagined Anti Avsan.
Police say they do not know who this man as the girls point out is. How could they be with him?
Olle Alsén made its own site survey at the gym in Upplands Väsby, where he showed a picture of Avsan and asked around.
"That's Anti Avsan! He's a cop .... "he then told of a man there.
Investigation Commission (which would be "the people's scrutiny of the investigation) also shows signs of not wanting to take this with pliers, but says the case as" it might be a different day this happened ... "They are the first skiver an official document where Avsans names appear, Anti A. "
Police have made many serious mistakes in this case. And now refuses to take the action. Avsan is riksdagman the Conservatives 2006-2010, has a legal education, probably paid for by money from the dormant company he is a member of "Team SOS", a weapons company.
He now sits before the 2010 election the Moderate Party parliamentary list in place 15th This is an unprecedented scandal, but what makes the media. What does the "fourth estate"? They MUST review the power. Have they done so? Non.
Sven Anér and Olle Alsén and their families have been threatened by email in this case.
Aner book from 2008 is very illuminating in this case. "The transaction Anti Avsan". 49 bucks on Bokia.
Leif GW Person who originally were totally against police track has now turned 180 degrees. In his latest novel, "Falling freely as in a dream", it is now clear how the murder happened.
Lisbeth Palme did early an addition in his testimony regarding the image the police sent out on the offender, "phantom image" ...
"He had more hours, more plump face."
The Finnish voice on the radio belonged likely buddy and arms dealer Carl Ostling, it is the only one in this thread except Avsan that can be Finnish. Carl Ostling was the day of the murder hospitalized for appendicitis. He then received a visit from Per Arvidsson, who chaired the Stockholm Defense rifle. He wrote directly from the hospital, despite an unhealed wound on his stomach. Carl Ostling rented at the time of an office premises, which decorated the apartment at the corner of Government Street 85 and David Bagares street, exactly where the pursuer lost the killer.
"He sort of went up in smoke in there ...".
Finnish voice on the radio, Finnish speakers recognized police on place ... an apartment in the killer's escape route, Shooting Association ... How easy will it be for the police to start acting like cops and engage in policing activities?
Anti Avsan is thus as close as you can get, 99.9% identical to the so-called "Spot Imam Annen".
************************************************** ****************
Additional 2010-09-13. An indication. (Pointing in any direction, but can not be substantiated)
On 28 september 1994 the ferry Estonia, on the way from Estland.Mycket information to plow this disaster. It is believed the weapon transports, nuclear waste and various more or less svĂĄrbevisade facts. Much there is to read about foam called on the survivors. If crew members disappear etc. etc.
There are passenger lists, but one thing has all the widgets forgotten: GROUP LISTS of passengers.
I remember being tipped off about this for a good long time ago, maybe in the late nineties. But the leading kin network then found my task was interesting, and he skule check this. But nothing came out of some groups of passengers. Tha, a senior citizens' association from Östergötland media reported already days after the sinking.
On the ferry was a large group of civilian employees policemen, from Stockholm County, the union conferences. 68 pieces. 63 were killed.
So this was not police trained administrative staff in the police. (source union PCS, Civil Servants)
If we now consider Anti Avsans perspective. Here sink the boat, on the way from his urspprungsland and "The whole damn Labour Corps in the police accompany the deep." Avsan move at this time of extreme right-wing circles. In Estonia, there are plenty of fascist groupings and networks.
Anti Avsan is November 21, 1992 designated as being present at the murder scene, carrying both walkie-talkie and gun. Vittena heard eight times, received an inadequate confrontation with 6 images, none of which represented the Avsan. Police say they know not to Avsan while they interrogated him and he has an alibi: Avsans wife said he was at home.
If we are to look at this, so it MUST be tisslats and paw response within the police. In particular, the Labour-tight compartment.
It was Avsans all polirtiska enemies killed. The probability that any of the victims knew what had happened, is high.
My theory is thus to Estonian right-wing "terrorists" have primed the boat at the front door, the holes in the bow shows explotion outward.
The reason for the disaster was thus Palme murder. To cover his tracks.
My thoughts go to Chile in 1973, where they threw live people high above the sea in hajrika water.
These people are psychopaths. Extreme psychopaths.

Imagine someone malicious person for a long time your name sends a mass email with slander, half truths and outright lies against some other people who obviously are offended by these attacks. Outrageous is not it? Imagine further that these 'hot mail' spreads like ripples in the water and leads to the tremendous accusation that you would be Olof Palme's murderer and that those nasty rumors not only spread on the Internet, but also including in book form by an established journalist and author. This should be enough for you to take action and defend your honor, tooth and nail, right? Tolerance level should be zero for such types of abuse, one might think, if not at the individual level, then at least in the community. The above scenario is unfortunately not hypothetical, but taken from reality and it's worse than that: The person who is not react against such is also a man with both power and authority to stop the misery - a former alderman who now represent the Conservatives in the Swedish Parliament! If these allegations are not bekommer himself, one can find that the court system or his own party should do something, because this type of rumors hurt the reputation of these institutions. But not said George! Here it is instead the silence that prevails in combination with the utmost confidentiality of the legal and police level. But it should be no surprise that the normal rules of law eliminated when dealing with this now quarter-century old prime minister's murder. Yeah, at first glance, these accusations's so egregious that they fall on his own grip and as long as they come from only a few 'private detectives 'and other conspiracy exists so people seem taciturnity's strategy work just fine. The only question is whether this is sustainable in the long run and if it really can be compatible with the foundations of an open society governed by law, which we so badly want to believe that Sweden is. hotmail threats on the Internet it is notoriously difficult to not be anonymous. There is no match to create a free email account and call yourself what you want, and then, after logging on MSN can send mail from any computer, eg from an internet café.Previously provided MSN e-mail addresses, for a unique name for each ending with "hotmail.com", but with that one then launched Windows Live Mail, the newly created address after the at sign instead "live.se." An engineering method consists in forwarding mail and change the return address so that it looks like the old mail coming from a particular person. It is thus not difficult to sit at their computer and invent an email exchange and send to different hotmail addresses, which it created in different name, and then pass it on to other people with little or no ability to trace the anonymous email the author. possible While tracing the IP address, which is unique, but then you need to get help from the police. In order to get the police to deal with such things, the move of criminal activity with a certain penalty. Thus, one can threaten and defame people in someone else's name, without causing any measure. Neither is considered actionable posting false allegations and slander on a website. Tolerance level is obviously very high when it comes to this type of slander. Although there have been talk of a change in the law here and it might be going on. Such manipulations are used for several years frequently to include my father, a former police commissioner Gosta Soderstrom, and retired journalists Olle Alsén and Sven Anér. The main purpose of this smear campaign seemed to be to persuade these people to stop engaging in this very flammable substance - and especially when the track surrounding the so-called Decoration Imam Annen, as it was just Olle Alsén which launched in late autumn 1992nd But the purpose may have been the opposite, to discredit the then picket the police, magistrate and current senator Anti Avsan. If so, he managed / they, because it all led to Sven Anér self-published published the book "The transaction Anti Avsan" and that he now drives the demand for your own blog. For his part, took ownership of hotmail affair started after that by Gosta Söderströms merchandise in september 2007, take note of the contents of these emails and, to his great dismay discovered that some relatives of himself was named in a suspicious context. Even relatives of both Gosta and Olle Söderström Alsén was named. Anér The book starts from Decor Imam Annen is identical to what was then the police picket, now alderman at Stockholm District Court and moderate MP Anti Avsan. Yes, in the book's second edition and on his blog svenanerpalmemordet.blogspot.com / he actually goes so far as to identify him as the gunman to death Olof Palme in Stockholm on 28 February 1986. course this is a very serious charge, which himself in a couple of letters requesting that the Prosecutor handling in accordance with Penal provisions. It may be added that in conjunction with a few other "business" as he described in his books 'The deal Borlange' and 'deal Brides', which is about the former county police and reconnaissance leader Hans Holmer and former member of parliament and Paris Ambassador Carl Lidbom, lied about their whereabouts and movements during the night of the murder, also urged those potentates to report him for defamation.Though reconnaissance leader Stig Edqvist gets a scoop of the spoon. To write Sven Anér in his blog: 'Edqvist know that the murder was committed by the magistrate and member of parliament, former baseball Police Anti Avsan but Avsan have Edqvist not charge for revealing or arrest.' If it all stopped at the unfounded accusations and 'conspiracy theories' would you might easily be able to dismiss the whole thing, but no one has been able to convict either Sven Anér - or for that matter proletarian journalist Olle Minell, which also involved a long time in question (he has written the book 'The murder of Palme and police track ') - with lies or false claims. Given that the bulk of this email campaign, which consists of about 70 email, revolves around the right track about the so-called Decoration Imam Annen, it may be the place to recapitulate this: Decoration Imam Annen Around at.23:18 that fateful February evening almost exactly 25 years ago, the two fine threads, commonly called Katya and Pirjo, walking past a furniture shop on Sveavägen. Mrs Palme was now at a distance of about 300 meters from there. The two girls had planned to go with a commuter train to the Stockholm suburb where they live. Since none of them at the time had no clock on it, they needed to ask someone for the time. particular paint shop DEKORIMA they saw a man who went to Katja. She thought he recognized him as a Finnish-speaking man she acquainted with at a gym in the northern suburb Upplands-Vasby. Katja appealed to him because in Finnish, but the man, according to the girls seemed nervous, do not respond. When Katya repeated his question, she heard a voice in a radio (walkie-talkie) say, 'Here they come', after which he replicated in Finnish: 'I am recognized. What should I do? ' and got the answer that he will complete his mission. Katja put the brand into something that she thought looked like a gun to shine with him. The girls found the obvious reasons, the situation extremely unpleasant and hurried away. Shortly afterwards they heard a loud bang, which they at the time wanted to explain that an exhaust blow from a car. Next day they closed that it was Olof Palme killers they met and also recognized. They were terrified and decided to keep quiet about their experiences during the night of the murder. They kept his vow of silence until autumn 1992, when Pirjo confided in a good friend what she's been through. He then took a ferry contact with journalist Olle Alsén on DN. He refrained from publishing the story and went instead to the police. Palm group became interested and held several interviews with the two Finnish hands. Though Katya could leave a rather detailed descriptions of the so-called Decoration Imam Annen, so it led to that police found no suspects. The then reconnaissance leader Hans Ölvebro later claimed that during the following six months invested substantial resources to get this man, but the search produced no results. journalist Olle Alsén had meanwhile been engaged in their own research and without much difficulty managed to find a man who largely seemed to be standing on Katja's description. There was a Swedish man of Estonian descent who also was a police officer and had, like many others in the police track where cops a past in Norrmalm Police A-lucky, also called baseball league. Shortly before the major journal dragons began to take up case, stated Ölvebro to actually interrogated him as 35-year-old police inspector, who also was a partner in a firm in arms and security industry. At that time, he had been promoted to a safeguard classified state service in the police force, where he served as the Stockholm police link to the military defense. Reconnaissance Management had simply informed that police inspector Anti Avsan not complied with the Finnish Hosts alerts and that he also, by his wife, could have a satisfactory alibi. Although he was 'completely irrelevant in this context' is the hearings have been held by him and his wife, and likewise with the Finnish girls confidential. Neither in this case has bothered to conduct a valkonfrontation between him and Finnish hands, which of course reasonably ought to be in the suspect's own interest if he had nothing with Prime killing to do. But, according Ölvebro, one can 'does not implement confrontations in order to obtain negative results.' Nor light police witness 'Stefan' from the gym in Upplands-Vasby confront Avsan. , the program had this rather startling things to tell you about a ' Police who worked on reconnaissance and was famous, well known in Upplands-Vasby '. Barely a year later, confronted with this in the TV program Striptease in april -94, was Ölvebro suddenly completely unaware that there was a police officer who resided in the current gym and found host, Lars Borgnäs, would tell him who it would be. Judging from Palm prosecutor Anders Helin's statement on the same TV studio, so they had not yet managed to identify Decor Imam Annen. Avsan however, were interrogated in the previous year. If you look at this program, one is struck by how uncomfortable both Helin and Ölvebro is having to answer questions about this. Judge for yourselves: Click (http://www.youtube.com/user/Ensaligblandning#p/u/38/FzM8wfI6bW4)It seemed as it had simply given up on this quest. They tried not to turn to the public by going out with a phantom image. One might add that the testimony of a key witness, music teacher, who was on the other side Sveavägen, actually supports girls' data. He testified that he had seen two girls after the assassination leave the Dekorima south. Another factor that Avsan is of Estonian descent and through Estonian make himself understood with Finn. He is said to also have been a partner in a firm in the weapons industry. Walkie-talkie men and Norrmalm Police A lucky Décor Imam Annen, was equipped with a radio (walkie-talkie), making this observation from the night of the murder could be linked to a number of sightings of suspicious activities in connection with the prime minister's murder. These observations have been made independently of each other and if they are placed in a wider context, it was found that spouses Palme was shaded and encircled by a 20-voice walkie-talkie-men. Since many of these observations are associated with certain designated police men's activities during the night of the murder included this in what is usually called the police track. majority of the designated officers, like Anti Avsan a past in a scheme police force because of his sometimes too brutal methods sobriquet ' Basebolligan '. Despite that, during a period of two years amassed a relatively large number of reports of police abuse were none of those involved ever convicted in court. way, there was none other than Hans Holmer who took the initiative to create this street patrol group, however, must be resolved up after just a couple of years of zealous work. It was also from this group of tight-knit police who he recruited people to his mounted troops and other special assignments in the style of smuggling illegal bugging equipment etc. Norrmalm police have also made himself notorious as a stronghold of right-wing extremist sympathies in the police. These should have been expressed mainly during the so-called companion hits, which is said to have had a clear nazianstuckna programs. On Norrmalms police station hung also a key, fully accessible to all on the station, to an apartment on the Iron Road in Traneberg. This apartment discovers the landlord of an event a water leak, causing him to go into the uninhabited apartment and move a cabinet. When he does this fall suddenly an SS helmet out of the cabinet, which in addition to a dozen swastikas standards found to contain a pair of walkie-talkies and a blinking facility, the landlord saw as nothing less than a sophisticated eavesdropping equipment. When it's time for the plumber to repair the leaking pipe, he gets an unexpected visit from a fully-manned patrol car from Norrmalm police. The police wonder förgrymmat what's at. Thereafter, LT opportunity to quietly remove things. Only when this story reaches the public, he is questioned about this: The flashing facility was a vcr, walkie-talkie sets usually he and his girlfriend use when they go out for a walk. Nazi paraphernalia are lattice can not even ask. In this context, the conspiratorial thinking slightly suspicious in a particular direction; apartment suitable due to its location ideal for walkie-talkie communication with devices located in downtown Stockholm. Besides Anti Avsan we find: Claes Djurfeldt from Södermalm Piketen 3230 who quickly responded to the first alarm was called Södermalm Piketen with patrol numbers 3230th Police inspector Kjell Ostling were officers. The rest of piketen were policemen Claes Djurfeldt, Klas Gedda, Peter Wikström, Jan Hermansson and Leif Svensson. reason this picket was outside his own district and circulating in the district up on Brunkebergsåsen, which belongs to Norrmalms precincts, was that one of the crew, Claes Djurfeldt, tired as he was parking tickets, wanted to put on his car. Djurfeldt temporarily rented an apartment on David Bagares street, at the intersection of Government Way. The time was well about 23:00, when Djurfeldt this evening went out picket the bus and sat in his car, which he then drove Regeringsgatan north in a wide circle parallel to Sveavägen, while Mrs Palme walked there, on the way home from the cinema. Minutes before the murder so he parked his car on David Bagares street, after which he returned to the waiting colleagues on the picket bus. Just when the person believed to be the offender was fleeing on Brunkebergsåsen picket bus drove away from the area. In an earlier part classified section of Jurist Commission interview with Kjell Ostling, (1986-08-27) one can read the following: 'They were in the neighborhood of Sveavägen by chance. Passed by the stairs up to Malmskillnadsgatan just before the shooting, had reached almost down to Brunkebergs squares when the radio call came. E stated position and went to the place. ' (Jurist Commission hearings with Kjell Ostling, 1986-08-27) When the men heard the alarm on the police radio, they were, according to Kjell Ostling, ie at Brunkebergs square, from where they could get to the scene of the murder of 20-30 seconds. But according to the reconstruction that TV3 did with the two police picket Klas Gedda and Claes Djurfeldt, they found themselves at alarm time 'to bend' at the Sergel Square. (TV 3, Police tracks, 1995-02-15) If piketen veered off towards Sergel Square, it means that, after the visit up on Brunkebergsåsen, made no attempt to go straight back to their own districts. Anyway they could from both sites get less half a minute to the murder scene, where they then arrived seconds after kommissariebil 2520th Four men from piketen was quickly ordered to take up the hunt for the killer. Djurfeldt himself took the escalator up Brunkebergsåsen, where he quickly became sick and vomited (because he represented the go march too quickly to have been drinking a Coca-Cola). Then came together he and one of his colleagues with Dalsgaard and Ekesäter from kommissariebil 1520 we'll tell you more about this below. Djurfeldt was then left alone at his recently omparkerade car, which then ended up in the killer's escape route. Three days later sounded Gatukontoret haul away the car and Djurfeldt waited a full month to solve it. Södermalm Nail Tens rides up on Brunkebergsåsen been regarded as remarkable in several respects. We are dealing here with a number of factors, which together are difficult to explain. The former reconnaissance leader Hans Ölvebro valued all these just coincidences, or else 'has the five police officers there that would be inblandade'-an opportunity that Ölvebro the program Northern magazine from 1994 were reluctant to believe.Coincidentally There are thus many on this picket and its crew: Firstly they had at the time, given his own district of Södermalm to engage in something as trivial as a omparkering by a car and was thus "by chance" in the upper of Brunkebergsåsen while the shots fell down on Sveavägen. Secondly, Animals Feldt journey with his white VW on a street parallel to Sveavägen occurred while spouses Palme started walking home from the cinema. Thirdly, the car had been parked in what came to be the killer escape, a place where the witness Lars Jeppsson seen the last glimpse of the fleeing murderer, and, also, just behind the rear door that led to the firm Strategist Protector, which was driven by the högerextremistiske arms dealer and former Norrmalm Police Carl-Gustaf Ostling, known in police trace context as 'E'. Fourth, random it so that it was precisely these picket police officers who came to be the first to run after Olof Palme's murderer, which, according to both His Holmer and Kjell Ostling was 'heels' on and near to grasp. Fifthly was their colleague Ulf Helin, who had his regular duties in this very Södermalm Piket, at the time at SBC, where he received the first alarm about the event and through various omissions, which we will study in more detail, giving the killer excessive lead. Ulf Helin The second alarm came, as we know from the PBX, Ann-Louise Paulsson Järfälla Taxi. She had a direct number to the Stockholm police liaison and there had to speak with the operator Ulf Helin. Discarding now guilty of not less than four violations of the instructions: first He quickly breaks the connection with Järfälla Taxi, despite police action calendar stipulates that the telephone line to 'be open to the first police patrol arrived on the scene.' second He sends Nor ambulance, even though he is from a reliable source told that a man had been shot. In interviews with Commission of Jurists, he defended this omission by saying that he only wanted confirmation that gunfire had actually occurred and that it was dangerous and departed. He thought that if there was danger of the departed, the police patrol came first to the site alarm ambulance. Now it was Järfälla Taxis Ann-Louise Paulsson who summoned an ambulance. third He also fail to inform the officer in charge of the inspector, Anders Thorne Norderstedt, who was also supervisor of SBC's radio operators, about the shooting on Sveavägen.4th The fourth violation of the instructions consisted of Ulf Helin failed to develop the protocol and start the scoring, which falls on the person first receives an alarm if an event of a more serious nature. mere light of these four points, one can ask whether Ulf Helin also failed to go out of area call to the cops in the city. He seems not to have taken the firing of Tunnelgatan-Sveavägen very seriously. , the last active gun shooter on the list of the Stockholm Defence rifle named Carl Gustav Ostling, as in medial contexts tilled referred to as E, a native of Finland. He had the day of the murder, contrary to medical advice, dared to leave the hospital where he had been treated for an appendectomy. Palm Investigators have certainly been some questioning of him and such tried his alibi. He claims to have been home at the time of the murder and thus had no one to support this task, but we still thought we had good reason to quickly dismiss him, because he was the nyopererad. Ostling then stopped by the police and could seriously engage in their own business, where he could take advantage of his good contacts in the police, he delivered specialized equipment to His Holmer and his 'Palmerum', guns and walkie-talkies to his controversial mounted troops, etc. It was also Ostling which was responsible for organizing the purchase and smuggling of sophisticated eavesdropping equipment were seized by Customs in Helsingborg in connection with a former bodyguard to Hans Holmer summer of 1988 tried to bring it in Sweden, which came to be the origin of the so-called Ebbe Carlsson affair. In its wake made the Customs Criminal Investigation s ince raid home in Östling home in the south of Stockholm, and managed to find a substantial amount of weapons and ammunition, some outright illegal to possess. Per Arvidsson That same day could Stockholm police technical division determine that the two bullets were of the same stroke and manufactured by Winchester. In this context, for some reason, a then 25-year-old department director at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, Per Arvidsson, have assisted the police. This, he claims, anyway himself in a letter to his verkschef, where he was asked to describe his relationship with the right xtreme arms dealer Carl Gustav Ostling. In autumn 1996, the fact revealed that both the Stockholm police and the military for a long time bought weapons and equipment from CG Ostling, even though he had no weapon is licensed and even had been convicted of such illegal possession of weapons. Per Arvidsson writes 1996-10-21: 'The day after the murder, I was contacted by the Stockholm police. They had found two bullets at the murder scene and wanted me to identify them. I did this on Sunday. " Regarding these two bullets, I can not help but quote the former commissioner Wincent Lange, who was the one who had the ultimate responsibility for the forensic examination. Saturday, October 29, 1988 contained the magazine Kvällsposten one in this context sensational article. There was an interview with Lange, who at the time was just retired. This time he took the blade from his mouth and dared to question the authenticity of the balls:- The balls are pure bluff! I have become convinced that they are outsourced to mislead search. Ingvar Basic Borg The apartment Ostling predisposed by David Bagares street belonged to his business associate Basic Borg - a former military man. He had at the time of the Palme murder worked for six weeks as head of security at Televerket radio in Stockholm, which was responsible for and controlled all radio traffic in the Stockholm area, especially the one that goes over the radio network. The week after the murder, he was on sick leave and then said, up from Televerket to be succeeded by none other than Carl Gustav Ostling, who was left in a barely six months. duties of security was high safety rated, meaning that SAPO considered these two men to be suitable for the work in question.

Sonny Björk was "Palm investigators own weapons expert." In one of Lars Borgnäs Striptease-reportage latter declared that in "the criminal circles" where the killer is finding it 'very rare' changing the weapon to other ammunition will fit. When Borgnäs wondered how Bjork could rule on which circuits murderer lived in he replied: 'I assume that we know who it is that has shot Olof Palme ... there's a person who has been convicted of it, "that is, Christer Pettersson. ' Gosta Söderströms controversial times , even former police commissioner Gosta Söderströms controversial times regarding the timing of the first police alarm and when the first patrol car - ie. his own kommissariebil 2520 - arrived in site included in the Police track, because they run counter to the official history. Gosta Soderstrom was the highest officer on duty during the night of the murder and stake leaders at the crime scene. Following the assassination of Olof Palme, he has devoted himself to a stubborn and determined struggle to disprove it him unattractive allegation that he - despite 40 dot free year of service behind him - now would have suffered a paralysis that facilitated the killer's disappearance, according to the official version came Söderström and Winden there at 23:24, no more than 3 minutes after the murder, but was not until at 23:31 to the police communication center (SBC) report in their arrival to the scene and that a so-called tracking started. If so Söderströms and Windéns consistent evidence would sue, you get further evidence that the police track a reality; police alarm - the so-called field the call went out as late as at 23:29, it appears not the least appearance of kommissariebil 1520 four minutes earlier along the killer's escape route as something very suspicious. Gosta Soderstrom comes after over 10 years of private studies conclude that at 23:23 expired earlier call that was addressed to 'special personnel', specifically to the two picket buses 1230 and 3230, who had been near the murder scene at the time of the murder. fact that these two have been called at 23:23, he has seen on a so-called single-line IM list . At 23:31, recorded Söderströms first call to the police communication center, where he first reported his arrival at the crime scene and that they initiated tracking of running people. then took another four minutes before he made his next 'classic' call, ie 23:35, that 'the victim is identical to the Prime Minister'. Later that night, at 04:00, compared Söderström and Winden his watch with the TV clock, and found that the former was a minute before, so they thought they could establish that the alarm went out at 23:29 . Earlier in the night had commissar His Koci on the police liaison for Soderstrom stated that the matter utalarmerats whole 6 minutes earlier - '23 .23 it should be! ' - And a few days later ruled Holmér 23:24 as the official correct time of arrival of the police at the crime scene. As the crucial evidence relied on to Sollentuna ambulance left the murder scene with the dead Palme at 23:28 - then three minutes before the Söderströms kommissariebil 2520 become indaterad of SBC . Slightly band with radio traffic from the SBC was not, then tape machine which was not in use during the night of the murder. To dispel any doubt delivered reconnaissance management, however a copy of the recording tape from the County Alerting Finland, where the current time histories shown through a speaking clock loop that constantly lies in the background. factor is that you first went out with various tasks that the original tape had disappeared, avmagnetiserats and even burned., the copy that you finally came up with was later to be analyzed by including electronics engineer Mauricio Vigil, who found that it is 'wrong' speaking clock that sounds, that is not the speaking clock machine that was in use during the night of the murder. If this is true, one can suspect that the forgery occurred. Following this sensational discovery came suddenly original tape front, it had always been safely in a cabinet. This band was then controlled by the National Forensic Laboratory, who could not demonstrate that any manipulation took place. And not well SKL mistaken in this case, or ..?Switching to South African track order return to the decor Imam Annen there anyway one, perhaps farfetched, switching to South African track, which exploded during the autumn of 1996, when a former police chief in South Africa during the trial revealed that South African agents were involved in the murder of the Swedish Prime Minister. When this track was rolled up revealed that a man named Nigel Barnett had links to both Sweden and the South African secret service. During the spring of 1997, he was interrogated by the Swedish police in Mozambique, where he since March of that year been detained on suspicion of, among other things. a weapons smuggling. data on Barnett's potential involvement in Palme murder comes from the former companion Richard Sears who shortly after the child arrest found a bag with a strange content in his car. There were but three different identity on him even a tape recording from Radio Sweden, Stockholm, in which both fine threads Katja and Pirjo told me that they just prior to the murder seen a man speaking into walkie-talkie in Finnish outside Dekorima store. Whether Barnett was in Sweden, however, is not something that has been confirmed. When the Audit Commission, just before the summer holidays in 1999, presented its final report takes up the account of Decor Imam Annen a few pages, leading to the journalist Olle Alsens hypothesis that Dekorimannen would have been a cop not gone to get confirmed. I quote the Commission's conclusion: 'It in the spread where the policeman Anti-A has as far as can be judged not by decorating imam carter or the Finnish girls do . ' This could well maybe this story with an end, but that is not the case. Lars Krantz 'website www.nationalmordet.se The former TV producer and the late author Lars Krantz 'website www.nationalmordet.se had a special role in the origins of to hotmail campaign which I thought to account for. Through his website, he received since its inception in 1998 in a number of emails from the interested public and the content of some of those he has with lurid headlines then posted on the website. Now we come to October 2005, the time of the Moderate Party's nomination of anti Avsan to parliament. This had stopped at the police started to study law and made a meteoric career in the judiciary, where he held the post of alderman. He ended up as No. 12 on the parliamentary list, which was topped by none other than Fredrik Reinfeldt. nomination of Anti Avsan commented Lars Krantz as follows: "Now cracks in the seams here and there. At one provval the parliament of Conservatives for the county was nominated for the weekend to elective place a person at the time of the assassination of Olof Palme was on Sveavägen 15 meters from the murder scene at the entrance to the subway at Metro Way. He was a plainclothes police and witnesses claim to have seen him with weapons in hand. He called Anti Avsan and is now at Stockholm District Court Judge and Chairman of the Moderate Party circuit in Huddinge. That time he was police in Norrmalm. He was schooled to the alderman of Professor Christian Diessen, famous for his statement that 'we do not defend likskändare' if the lawyer appointed to defend one of the doctors suspected of having cut Catrine da Costa. ' In November 2004, he had, by the way on his controversial website Avsan designated as right-wing extremist and Nazi. He refers then to a long email that he should have been given by a former colleague of Avsan. (Nazi-accusations have also Olle Minell been told during an interview with police union man on Norrmalm police and who is said to have described him as follows: 'Anti Avsan is a bellwether of the worst Nazi of them all in the A lucky! ')Hotmail campaign , it is not entirely clear how the mail printer came across Gosta Söderströms address - a rather awkward address that went to the eldest son Ivan - but it seems that he got hold of it by first contacting Olle Alsén.Anyway, the first email was addressed to both Olle Alsén and Gustav Söderström and sent 16 November 2005: 'If you think that AA would pay me money for me not to write about him so I think you should tell him that he sends the cash to the fuse. I'll gladly ignore him with silence in the future. LK ' LK here would be Lars Krantz, who then should have allowed themselves to be bribed to stop their writings about Avsan. But the email that came to be most significant for the further course of events was from 2006-02-19 in which the same Lars Bergman offered to meet on 27 or 28 February 2006 to include explain 'the secretariat and the original background material to the National Criminal Investigation Department decisions Ai 652-93'. To find out what's going on behind the record number Ai 652-93, I had to turn to the National Police, and after a few days I pick up a registered letter signed by himself Stig Edqvist with a request to pay 56 SEK for copies .matter stemmed from a fax from Sven Anér, who in June 1993 asked to get out of the interrogation notes that are related to Anti Avsan, even confrontational questioning. This request was rejected by the standard formulation that 'interrogation printouts, which is part of the continuing investigation work, has not been dispatched or otherwise processed, which means that they are considered to be established within the meaning of Chapter 2. 7 § Freedom of the Press'. Sven Anér appealed to both the Stockholm Administrative and Supreme Administrative Court as the end of september the same year established the Administrative Court judgment. , it may be mentioned that Palm investigators held interviews with both Anti Avsan and his wife, who gave him an alibi for the night of the murder, and A total of eight interviews with the two Finnish girls. None of these has been released. Sven Anér have had access to the first hearing of the he calls Anneli which he reproduced on his blog. He received the text of Olle Alsén who held that questioning a witness. According to him, the interview is very rigorous and structured very hard to come by. Sven Anér writes in his book that the April 20, 1993, a photo of confrontation with the other Finnish girl, Anneli, during which she she saw pictures depicting six men ' But none of these men were Anti Avsan or indeed anyone been linked to Dekorima event. They were six ordinary, presumably honest people '. Both Gosta Soderstrom and Olle Alsén was naturally interested in meeting him Bergman, who claimed to be in possession of interesting information on the Palme murder but a coincidence never take place in late February 2006. At first Olle Alsén sick and then follows a number of email from a 'Anita Swan', which in various ways sought to avert a meeting with Bergman as discredited, while the recipients of these emails. Both Olle Alsén, Sven Anér and Gösta Soderstrom described as 'three of Sweden's largest desinformatörer during the last hundred years'. Anita Swan should also have gone through all that Bergman wrote and dismisses everything just 'bullshit.' And what then happened Lars Bergman - if he existed at all in the real world - is shrouded in mystery. In a couple of recent emails from 'Anita Swan' is that Bergman should have drowned. The email from March 4 it was alleged that he had jumped in the Åland Sea and in an email from the end of the same month he was alleged to have fallen 'straight down into Skageracken "during a cruise with the Crown of Scandinavia between Oslo and Copenhagen' after coming 'afoul of some of the gang.' And who / what is behind all of these emails is also a mystery., it is typical of the emails defending Anti Avsan is that senders names are anagrams of Anti Avsan: besides 'Anita Swan' occur 'Asta Nivas', 'Tina Navas' and 'Ivan Satan'. Around the same time, ie at the beginning of March, sending a John Stromgren, a statement to the effect that it is Anti Avsan himself who writes these 'evil mail' . He refers to his girlfriend who works at the district court in Stockholm, where she also should have seen that this magistrate had a lot of 'weird paper on the assassination of Prime Minister Palme in their boxes' and he ensured that they were chewed up into a shredder. The stolen condolence book One of the most bizarre aspects of this story is no doubt that on a book of condolence that was placed at the entrance to Solna City Hall on 20 March 2006, after Mayor Anders Gustav died suddenly during a flight. What happens next is that this book is stolen by an unknown perpetrator, which leads to preliminary investigation. On 7 April the same year, Gosta Soderstrom, which he read in its notification to the West Town precinct regarding the theft, 'a phone message from an anonymous person who upset old man's voice shouted the following:' The funeral is about an hour, you will come to hell? last opportunity to read the book! ' The message was repeated twice and sent probably from a tape recorder and arrived via telephone No. 06969-422013. ' In the notification refers Soderstrom to a few of the strange email he received that he thought the police would be interested, because the course of a concisely about the stolen condolence book. Asta Nivas wrote as April 3, 2006: "We took care of the book" and supplemented the data with that it was 'Goltuppen Lars Bergman' who went to the town hall in Stockholm to write condolence book . "He wrote down all that shit. ' Tina Navas writes April 15, 2006: 'Blättrat in kondboken - from kl.23.02 onwards. Below is apparent everywhere. Bergman did not greet - is on the ocean floor. Please let me know if you are interested of something amounts to lie low. ' Hugh Spencer explained since 7 July 2006: 'AA tore out a page from the condolence book where the pseudonym Lars Bergman wrote and told me about his shady dealings on 28 February.' Söderström suggested therefore that the investigation would take some of these emails, but the case was waived to the end on the grounds that 'reconnaissance lookups missing.' When ranking these emails to the degree of tastelessness is not the fake email about Lars Krantz 'alleged death far behind. Sometime in the spring of 2007, an email from a person claiming to be Lars Krantz son Thomas (he has no son by that name) and wanted to inform you that his father sadly passed away. Upon further research, it turned out that this was a false rumor. However, what is true is that Lars Krantz died in December 2010. His website had stopped nine months earlier. hotmail campaign stops Mail Spirit ceased altogether after Gosta Söderströms demise Feb. 2, 2008. It belongs to the image of his last time was strongly influenced negatively by this email campaign - especially the allegations that he was partly have been completely incompetent and partly taking bribes. He was also very upset by Lars Krantz 'writings on the website that he shared Krantz' conviction of the perpetrator's identity. these false claims also led to he made to the police, but it did not result in any each. An interesting fact in this context is that the false email was sent on bribes 2007-09-21 from address carl_stalbrannare@hotmail.com - same pseudonym as an associate of the then defense minister, ministry secretary, Marten Sundmark, had used the an anonymous email to Aftonbladet (to stop the review of the court's business). If Aftonbladet has left this message, it might well be able to check if it is sent from the same sender. Nor what I have described above is taken from the air. My theory is that these emails written by someone with plenty of time and good insight into the matter. There's little evidence that persons possess inside information on the matter: scenes around the stolen condolence book, knowledge of the National Crimea registration number and the fact that my father had a prolonged conflict with a neighbor in Fairfield, testifies to this. In the first edition of Sven Aner book, he expressed suspicion that it was anti Avsan himself who wrote e-mails and even my father thought so. But in the book's second edition, he found out that the emails that looked to be consigned från@riksdagen.se not sent away. Some researches have been done by a computer savvy person who suggested that many of the emails sent from an Internet cafe at Kungsholmen. I enjoyed myself by Lars Krantz, who in December 2007 called me and asked for my address. he might pass on some of these email me. Here we have one of these:From: anti.avsan @ riksdagen.se

The whole story has now received such distribution so that it is difficult to quiet down. Sven Anér, which in August celebrates 90 years, working tirelessly on getting the appropriate authorities to act by surrendering the file important documents, mainly recent interrogation report, and finally implement a confrontation with the alleged offender. But the authorities do not seem to want to take in this matter with pliers. Most of the file is confidential. Surprisingly, no one seems to care - not even anti Avsan himself. That someone or some brought a libel like email campaign in his name which later led to one of the most serious charges you can be exposed to should have been enough to trigger a powerful reaction, except from law enforcement authorities or Moderates page . But the silence is almost complete. To my knowledge, none of the major newspapers wrote a series on this combustible substance which even today would be a real scoop with related gear. As long as the media does not pay attention, there is no real business. Not even when the senator Jan Lindholm brought the matter during an interpellation in Parliament on 21 August 2008 was someone who cared, even though Lindholm expressed concerns that the 'rule of law loses its legitimacy if it is not able to even comment on all of the gaps in investigative work apparently there '. Examination Commission notes in its final report in 1999 on the history of decorative Imam Annen that "there is hardly reason to believe other than that an event giving rise to the tip occurred." However, the Commission writes: 'It should be emphasized that this spread can not therefore be regarded as no real police track. Women themselves have never claimed to spot imam carter would have been a cop. This is instead the journalist Olle A's hypothesis, a hypothesis that was not possible to get confirmed. On the spread where the policeman Anti-A has so far can be judged not by decorating imam carter or the Finnish girls to do. 'affair Anti Avsan has gained a lot of spread on the Internet, which is usually synonymous with rogue conspiracy theories, you do not need pay any respect at.many takes, this silence as an implicit recognition that there is something rotten in the kingdom of Sweden. The only thing straight, according to Jan Lindholm, probably to the judiciary starts a defamation lawsuit against Sven Anér. Even Olle Minell ought to be prosecuted in the same time. On 5 February this year, he namely a speech in Uppsala, in Bokcaféet Red Star, under the provocative headline: 'Sitting Olof Palme's killer in the Swedish Parliament?' Sven Anér himself would not mind to stand before railing. Rather, it is something he would look forward to. He has also turned to the Anti Avsan with the direct question of whether he intends to report him for defamation. During a conversation with a parliamentary colleague teaches him to have said that he would get stuck with this thing for life. He has provided no comment to my brother who sent him an email with the question whether it was he who was behind several of these emails.Silence is absolutely no viable strategy in this case. A pending in court would clarify whether there is any justification for these grave accusations. Meanwhile, the suspicions flourish and continue to undermine the perception of Sweden as a rule. , it is high time to put the cards on the table! You can not cheat with high stakes indefinitely. Can we Palme assassin in Stockholm Defence rifle?Published October 1, 2010
The proletarian No 37 we went again up the so-called police track of light in search of Olof Palme's killer. Upon request we had gotten out of declassified documents; sensational tips that were previously unknown to the Swedish people and media. Now, more fiery material!

Here we have Stockholm Defence rifle - it was among its members hit group was recruited to carry out the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme? The evidence suggests that!

This defense rifle consists of a number of policemen and soldiers, where several are known to harbor extremist views and where Palme was one peeve. Here were trained in regular command and street fighting. In defense against whom - the Evil fi in East and ryssförrädaren Olof Palme? In right-wing circles in Stockholm, it was clear that there was a group that was prepared to take action!
In a survey we see that the core of this defense rifle to say the least interesting in the investigation of the Palme murder. What can there be for connections? Well, see here:
• Carl-Gustav Ostling, at the Office of the murder at Norrmalm Police's notorious A-turn. Appendicitis Operated a week before the murder, murder deviates day against doctor's orders. Missing alibi murder evening. To say the least hot summer of 1988 in Palm investigation after a raid in which it found quantities of weapons and ammunition, among other bullets of the same caliber as it is claimed that Palme was assassinated by.
tip from a taxi driver on 21/7 1988 that he picked up Ostling and another man in 30s 4-5 minutes after the murder, only about 500 yards from the murder scene. The same day advice from colleague at Norrmalm Police to Ostling know who Palme's murderer is - both tips swept under the carpet by former Palme Commission! No questioning!
• Anti Avsan, also at Norrmalms police-A-lucky. Said to be decorative Imam Annen, the man who is waiting for the couple Palme at the intersection Sveavägen / Tunnel Road with a walkie-talkie in one hand and a revolver in the other. And then very likely the man who responds to the call of Ostling (?) In the walkie-talkie and answers:
- I am recognized, what should I do?
- Fuck it, do what you should do, he gets to answer.
And Decor Imam Annen does what he must - Olof Palme is assassinated.
All tips / questioning Avsan is still secret!
• Claes Djurfeldt find themselves alone on top of Brunkebergsåsen, released from the picket bus 3230, as cautious withdrawn in a doorway. It is said that Djurfeldt to move his illegally parked car, just above Tunnel Way stairs just above the murder scene - and just when Olof Pale murdered. Released to protect the murderer escape?
• Ulf Helin'd been in picket bus 3230 - but by chance (!), He turned to internal service PSAP. It is Helin shown to retard and remiss alerts on the assassination of Olof Palme.
• Ingvar Basic Borg is weapons firm Strategist Protector with CG Ostling. He is military and got to know Ostling before he interrupted his military career to become a police officer. Basic Borg is tapping expert with a security job with Telecom. Ostling / Basic Borg rented an apartment in October 1985 - March 1986 (dismissed shortly after the murder) at the bottom by David Bagares Street, just where a witness saw the last glimpse of the fleeing killer.
I lost him in Strategist Protectors premises?
• Per Arvidsson is the last (?) Visiting Ostling in his home at 20:00 o'clock night of the murder.Arvidsson employed at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration and parts Östling interest in weapons. As FMV's arms dealers has Arvidsson given Östling firm Strategist Protector large orders after the murder. Is it the final details for the evening activities are reviewed?
Also summoned by the Stockholm police to the Sunday after the assassination identify homicide balls!
Sonny Björk is the detective that of Holmer contracted as weapons expert in the Palme Commission. It is he who shall examine the murder bullets. Murder Bullets as the seasoned crime scene investigator Moberg of Stockholm police homicide commission is not found even though he "hoovering" SHEBANG within too limited murder scene.
But a bullet was found the day after by a private person, just where Moberg made its "vacuuming" of ending up in the hands of Birch. It was time for manipulation?
Here we have six members in Stockholm Defence rifle which in one way or another have a role in connection with the murder of Olof Palme. Coincidences - judge for themselves!
The former Conservative leader Ulf Adelsohn writes in his memoir that he is called by Palme's successor, Ingvar Carlsson, who then tells him:
- Now that this has happened it would have been better if it were a single madman. But it seems to be very well planned long in advance. It is a sign that there is a group who will stop at nothing to hurt the Swedish society!
Everything indicates that the group Carlsson talking about are in the Swedish military's right circles, within Sapo - and the right-wing elements within the Stockholm police. And we find those who will carry out the dirty work and kill the country's prime minister, the hit group, the Stockholm Defence rifle?
Interrogations with Anti Avsan is declassified. Tips / questioning Ostling, which he tied to a location near the murder site shortly after the attack - and where Ostling said to know who the killer is and where it is also said that he has good contacts with police forces - those swept under the carpet by the previous Palme Commission summer of 1988.
No hearings held by Ostling when he is at its hottest in the murder investigation. He was buried and instead shaken ace from his sleeve up - lonely-maniac-killer Christer Pettersson!
We should be clear that this is a skilled shooter who perfected Olof Palme life. Or as the coroner, Kari Ormstad, said in connection with the autopsy:
- It was a well-placed shot. Sagittarius dotted all structures should be extinguished to immediately put Palme in an unconscious, immobile and non-repairable condition!
The bullet went through my words seam of Olof Palme's coat, through the spine of the fifth thoracic vertebra, penetrated the esophagus, trachea, aorta and sternum on its way through the body. Olof Palme was dead before he hit the ground.
Christer Pettersson? Or should we direct the eyes to the Stockholm Defence rifle? Olle Minellproletarian No 39, 2010

Elsewhere, Jan K. asked me about the veracity of the alleged telegram to a P2 bigwig saying just before the Palme murder that the 'Swedish tree was about to be felled'. It also talked about 'Operation Tree'. I have done some homework trying to get to the bottom of the telegram and if it was real or not. Not finished, but, this is what I can report at this time [its been a LOOOONG time since I was actively working on the Palme murder and much new has come out - both in information and disinformation].

The entire assassination was very complex, though made to look very simple [made to look as if one lone-nut with a gun and no accomplices did it in a dark alleyway in Stockholm as the Palmes walked home from the movies on a night for 'some strange reason' their security had been stripped. We [researchers on this] KNOW there were many others stationed all around with radios, observation devices, getaway cars and more....don't want to get into all that...suffice it to say it was a rather large conspiracy and coverup and the patsy was just a patsy and they have actually used several, as evidence for one becomes nonsense to the public, they 'find' a new one.

Apparently, the telegram can not be confirmed as true. It was first made public through an official Swedish Palme Investigation report. It was said to come from a covert operative using the name Razine and wearing a ski mask when with investigators and reporters. That 'Razine' turned out to be the infamous FBI/CIA disinformation specialist LeWinter! However, many investigators now agree that LeWinters main technique with Palme was to tell mostly the truth, then much later be discovered as not Razine but rather a CIA disinformation artist, so that what he told [mostly truth, with some fiction and misdirection] would be tossed out en masse, and everyone would be confused and the truthful information discredited. Very sophisticated disinfo op. IMO. For some on this octopus, look the several web pages here http://www.leopoldreport.com/LRsajt74.html

I'll try to research it further to try to find if that telegram was a bit of info or disinfo. Part of the very tangled web built by LeWinter and many others around the Palme assassination can be found here (http://www.leopoldreport.com/LRsajt74.html). LeWinter, IMO, was working for Bush Sr. and Co. [in all senses of Company]. He even said so at one point. In the mix at that time were the Iran-Contra players who were dealing with Bofors [Swedish arms manufacturer] and S. African fascists - as well as the usual gang of NATO fascists and others around the world.

Thanks, Peter! This strange LeWinter shows up again. I must have known this at some time, but forgotten.
One should call Lewinter and ask him, he likely lives in southern California with his daughter...

I certainly don't want to contact him, nor would I believe anything he said....

Both LeWinter and Herrmann appeared as sources in media and in a number of books about October Surprise and Iran/Contra [and Palme] published in this period (Bainerman 1992, Blum 1995, Bondeson 2005, Honegger 1989, Hunter et al 1986, Parry 1993, Sick 1991, Stich 1999, Tarpley et al 1992, Vankin et al 1998, and Willan 1991, as well as hundreds of newspaper stories).

Both acted as provocateurs for the FBI, LeWinter in Germany and the United States, and Herrmann in the UK. They were also both connected to the CIA.

(Leopold Report 100925)
In the first four articles, we revealed that three US citizens who appeared to the investigators of the Palme murder as three independent sources with three different stories in reality was an organized group of disinformants that from 1988 onwards attacked and sabotaged the murder investigation. The group’s most central and prominent participant was Professor Robert Harkavy, who also stayed with the Swedish Peace Research Institute SIPRI in the summer of 1985, and at several occasions later, after the Palme murder.

Further, we have shown that two of the three disinformants were professors at same university, Pennsylvania State University. Each of the three had extensive connections to the US and foreign secret services. Further, our fact-finding shows that the FBI over several years did its utmost to protect the disinformants and give them cover, even by lying to the Swedish investigators. The Swedish authorities were given the impression that this was a friendly cooperation to assist solving the murder, never understanding that in fact they were being deceived by the FBI.

We also showed that the CIA from the beginning participated on the spot in Stockholm by confusing the Swedish authorities from day one, i. a. by providing information, personnel and equipment to direct and manipulate the investigation into a Kurdish track, with the consequence of leaving overall responsibility for the murder with the former Soviet Union. All of this was pure disinformation that kept investigators working for several wasted years. (This will be significantly substantiated in a later article.) The FBI, on the other hand, was not willing to work with Palme investigators in Stockholm, but forced them to maintain a drawn-out and tedious correspondence with the FBI in Washington, in some cases via London and/or Interpol.

Command and Control

The FBI and the CIA would never have acted in this manner on their own. This was a matter of diplomatic relations between two nations. Decisions to deceive the Swedish authorities in connection with the murder of their own prime minister must have been taken at very high level.

The order to protect the disinformants, if necessary by way of lies, must formally have gone from the Justice Department to the FBI Director, and the Justice Department must have acted under orders from the White House, probably the National Security Council (NSC). The CIA reported at the time directly to the White House.

The NSC must have had a strong interest in protecting the disinformation operations in Stockholm from day one. The only possible explanation is that the NSC did not want the Palme murder solved. Why?

To answer that question, we start by investigating the connections from the disinformation group to the NSC.......

Not only CIA man Oswald LeWinter tried to expose the so-called Telegram connection. The same story has been told by two other people with a background in different intelligence services, one of these being former CIA agent Richard Brenneke. The other CIA source is Gene “Chip” Tatum who started out as a fighter pilot in Vietnam. When he joined the CIA, he became personally responsible for very sensitive transports, most often containing arms or drugs. He even flew several presidents, among them George Bush, on secret trips all over the world. In April 1986, Tatum was transferred from the CIA to OSG (Operation Sub Group), a kind of secret shadow government created by George Bush in 1981. Officially, OSG was an anti-drug and anti-terrorist organization with agents from intelligence services in the USA, England, Israel, Turkey, and Denmark. But there was also a secret OSG-2 group headed by the now notorious Oliver North, who was the effective and very dangerous tool for President Ronald Reagan, head of the CIA, William Casey, and Vice President George Bush in the super-secret drugs and arms cartel, Enterprise, circulating billions of dollars.

Just for clarity: You certainly wanted to write Oswald LeWinter, not "Oscar". And you are certainly talking about Richard Brenneke, of October Surprise fame.

I mean, think about it, the appearance of the same "witnesses" in October Surprise and the Palme murder gives you certainty that Palme was not killed by a "Lone Nut" (TM). It also gives you indications about who has an interest in derailing the investigation and covering up the real background of the events. Usually the people trying to cover things up are not too far removed from the people being responsible for the events in the first place.

Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, while his wife was walking the streets of Stockholm, was murdered on 28 February 1986. Killer Belgrade Udba Ivo D. who lived in Hamburg. Murder was Udbina manipulation - should be discredited Nikola Stedul, one of the leaders of the emigrant Croats. For the murder weapon that was used was smuggled by ship from the United States. Yugoslav agents spied on the Palme. These are new moments concerning never fully clarified Palmeovim murder published by the German magazine "Focus" on the basis of the statements of former members of secret Vinko Sindicic German investigators who are investigating the murder Udbina in Germany.
There have been several versions of the background Palme murder. They are suspected of various groups and organizations: the Swedish extreme right of the South African intelligence service, the German left-wing terrorist group Baader-Meinhof and the Kurdistan Workers Party branch. There was also speculation that the CIA is responsible for the murder of the opposition Palmela deploy nuclear weapons in Scandinavia. Nearly three years after the murder was arrested Christer Pettersson, who was identified in a police identification Palmela wife. He in 1989. sentenced to life imprisonment, but the very next year, after appeals, was released due to insufficient evidence.
To strengthen Sindičić claims, "Focus" also refers to the judgment of a German court in a murder case Stephen Djurekovic, where Sindičić characterized as "pure and authentic" witness. The story moves from the Udbi Croatian immigrant who Barešića Mira in 1971. in Sweden killed by Yugoslav ambassador Vladimir Rolovića. Barešić in prison, after the second time he was extradited to Sweden from the U.S., crying in rage to kill Palme. This voice came to the Secret Service and the hatched a plan to murder positioned in Croatian emigrants and thus eliminates the political emigration. It did not work. But because the killer Ivo D., claims "Focus", now lives in Zagreb, around the streets of Vukovar, and nobody can do anything to him!

25 years after the unsolved murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, we have a strong suspicion. The assassin could have made from Hamburg on the way. An assassin of the former Yugoslav secret UDBA allegedly shot the popular Social Democrats in February 1986 after a visit to the cinema in the center of Stockholm.

After FOCUS research informed a former intelligence official Belgrade, who was privy to the plans for the liquidation Palmes, German and Scottish authorities about the safety deadly conspiracy. The then 59-year-old politician was killed by one of his time living in Hamburg hitman, reported ex-spy Vinko Sindicic, 67, the Attorney General and the Bavarian State Office of Criminal Investigation.

In a lavishly staged disinformation campaign Yugoslav secret service had planned to accuse Belgrade hated scene of the murder of exiled Croats.

Still not found the murder weapon, a Smith & Wesson revolver brand .357 Magnum, had been smuggled by ship from the United States to Stockholm, reported Sindicic the German judiciary. Palme was shaded spot of the Yugoslav secret service agents. It had turned out that the personal protection of the Prime Minister have been reported vulnerabilities.

Alleged assassin lives in Zagreb FOCUS reporters found the alleged hitman in Zagreb. The 65-year-old works for a private security firm. German investigators handed over the statements of Sindicic in December 2008 the Swedish police. To the surprise of officials, there was no feedback from Stockholm.

Witness Sindicic wore in 2009, a major contribution to solve a murder in the Bavarian Wolfratshausen. A Yugoslav dissident was killed in 1983 with several shots and hits. The statements of Sindicic led to the conviction of a lifelong Tatbeteiligten, after the conviction of the Munich Higher Regional Court had since 1975 an agent of the secret service was Belgrade.

The Higher Regional Court of Munich stated in the court's opinion that Sindicic was precisely because of his work for an initiated Belgrade intelligence operations in many tools. The Croat was due to an attempted murder ten years in prison in Scotland

Several things in this Belgrade connection are interesting:
- The informant, Vinko Sindičić, has been a hitman himself: (from Wikipedia)

Nikola Ĺ tedul is a Croatian emigrant who was the target of an attempted assassination in Kirkcaldy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirkcaldy), Scotland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland) in 1988. Ĺ tedul had been the president the Croatian Statehood Movement, campaigning for Croatian independence from Yugoslavia.
The assassin Vinko Sindičić arrived in Britain with a Swiss passport. He received the gun and silencer he used for the murder attempt from the Yugoslav embassy.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_%C5%A0tedul#cite_note-Stround-1) Early on the morning of October 20, 1988, Štedul, who was walking his dog, was shot at four times by Sindičić.[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_%C5%A0tedul#cite_note-2) Štedul survived the shooting, while Sindičić was arrested at Heathrow Airport (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heathrow_Airport). The Yugoslav embassy subsequently provided the alibi that Sindičić was in the country watching the Scotland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland_national_football_team)-Yugoslavia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia_national_football_team) football match on October 19. However, residue from the firearm was found on Sindičić's skin, and after an eleven day trial he was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to 15 years in jail.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_%C5%A0tedul#cite_note-Stround-1)
The assassination attempt was subject of a 1994 movie by Scottish Television (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Television) titled The Yugoslav Hitman.[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_%C5%A0tedul#cite_note-3)

- As far as I am aware of, there has been no connection between Olof Palme and the Yugoslav Secret Service before Sindicic told his story in 2011.

- There is no motive given. Which may mean that the Yugoslav killer worked for interests that were not Yugoslav at all. Similar to the South Africans involved.

I tend to give at least some credibility to this, but more interesting would be to know, whether the order to kill Palme came from Washington, Tel Aviv or somewhere else.

FWIW, Ole Dammegard said it [the material above] made no sense to him at all. There is almost as much disinformation on Palme as on JFK. Reader beware!

Sindicic during his career worked exclusively with and for UDBA. He seemed to be ideologically motivated not commercially motivated. For him to trot out this nonsense it may have been because of his extradition on several murder charges in the new and definitely not improved Croatia. As far as I know he is still out of prison so he is still of use to some one. Certainly these stories are useful to some. He sings like a canary but whose song is he singing?

Much more likely to be Washington than Beograd.

Yes. Lots of red herrings. For sure this is one. It doesn't make sense or stand up to any scrutiny. Just good to have it here for the record.

There are now many new interviews with Dammegard posted on his website, for those of you without the time to read his very long and complex ebook.

Ole Dammegard I know well and he has now updated his book. It has, IMHO, the closest approximation now possible to who/why/why was behind the Palme assassination and it really is the 'usual persons and groupings/power structures' we see involved in all too many (most) Deep Political events and assassinations. I strongly suggest it be read by anyone interested. Ole long lived in Stockholm, but had to leave after death threats. If, as the official version would have it, that Petterson [patsy #1] and then the PKK [patsies #2] were involved, then why the threats? Reminds me of all the strange deaths surrounding Dallas and those who investigated it...if, as the official version goes a 'lone-nut' shot JFK and then was soon shot himself. Almost all such political murders/assassinations are false-flag events. Dammegard also shows that those involved in the assassination of Palme were also involved in SO MANY OTHER important Deep Political Events we know and loathe.
