I also have read about Prigogine and know that you can't step in the same river twice.
Ed, you are proof that you can step in the same shit pile twice when it has stuck to your shoes.

    I feel so ... abandoned.

Ed, you seem to be paraphrasing La Rouchefoucauld: It's not enough to be spiritually enlightened. Your friends have to remain in the dark.

So here's a tongue-in-cheek passage offered to you with a "wink:"

Fuck Wynton Marsalis. And you, too.

Thanks, Charles. I'll have to do some research to see who La Rouchefoucauld is and what he said. I'm a Jeffersonian, existing in a sect of one. Since it seems you want to continue to provoke me by dragging in Marsalis from an old off-topic discussion a long time ago, perhaps I should say "Fuck Miles Davis". I won't say "fuck you, Charles Drago"; I wish you well, in the spirit of Morihei Ueshiba. I'll just leave you to your moanin': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lnQslFWzno

In May 2000 six National Park Service employees began a 300-acre controlled burn in New Mexico's Bandelier National Monument.

Temperature high and rising. Humidity low. Winds growing.

The fire passed the 50,000-acre mark and Buddy Young regional FEMA director was in Los Alamos explaining why the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) was closed for the week of the town's forced evacuation.

    Was it coincidence or causality.

    Yes.

The issue is not Charles Drago, or what someone else thinks of him or calls him. As in that Buddhist tale, I have left Charles Drago and the "Amazon thread on the side of the river and moved on.
Too bad you don't realize that one of the top suspects for that racist rant on Charles has at times posted links from the "Veterans Today" webpage. And,no IT'S NOT YOU!

It's hate speech that is the issue Ed.Hate speech that has the capacity to influence the gullible. So what is the target audience for "Veterans Today"?There are probably 25 million veterans in this country, and I can assure you only a very small percentage of them would agree with Gordon Duff's viewpoint and tactics.

That's why I said that Duff should change the name of the webpage. It doesn't reflect at all the viewpoint of the vast majority of veterans. In fact it's a complete turnoff. If Gordon Duff named the webpage something like "The Duff Veterans Report",I wouldn't be saying this stuff, because that means "he owns what is put up there".But Duff plays with words,as the name "Veterans Today",seems to imply that this is how Veterans are and think.Do you understand that Ed?

Despite attempts by some to shoot one of the messengers, namely Gordon Duff
    Mark,

Gordon Duff is a high profile public person with a lot of influence. He runs a webpage called "Veterans Today".Why is it that there is virtually nothing on Duff's military service on the web? And,all I'm talking about here is just basic information. There isn't even a Wiki page up on him.

Don't you think this is a little strange for someone claiming to be a spokesperson for Veterans?I think Veterans would like to know how he only spent less than two years in the Marines, when an enlistment is for four years(if that sevice record is correct).I could go on about how the heck did he go from a trained rifleman,to an S3 clerk. It looks to me like he had some strings pulled to get something cushy like that.

So,you can call it "shooting the messenger",but many people think Duff is a propagandist. And really,it would be good for him to be transparent on these issues.Don't ya think.....

Thank you, Charles. The previously-quoted-and-cited Walter J. Freeman III (not the II who was enamored of lobotomies) said:

The male or female who solipsistically departs the morning after remains untouched by the night before. The deepest meaning of sexual experience lies not in pleasure, or even in reproduction, but in the opportunity it affords to surmount the solipsistic gulf, opening the door, so to speak, whether or not one undertakes to work to go through. It is the afterplay, not the foreplay, that counts in building trust.

Perhaps now, especially after I assure you that I have many CD's from Miles and recognize several of his tunes and one of his albums as existing at the pinnacle of jazz, we could roll over and have a cigarette.

But you don't smoke, and neither do I. Maybe the afterplay between you and I can help close the obvious solipsistic gulfs in one little corner of the world.

Ueshiba, to whom I have offered many a blog entry (see this most recent one: http://summonthemagic.blogspot.com/2...domitable.html ), is revered by many. There's a T-shirt one could buy ( http://www.aikistore.dreamhosters.co...products_id=20 ) that suggests practice of his art of harmony is a way to reconcile the world. I will soon purchase DVD's on takemasu aiki and misogi. I was given a shillelagh for my birthday, and already possess a 66" long walking stick made of Greylock rock maple, dried, cured, polished, and shellacked.

I understand the art of aikido as one in which the proper response in any moment is to do the right thing to prevent harm to one's self or others while doing minimal harm to the opponent and attempting to bring him or her to a point of recognition of the futility of aggression as a way.

Yes, I can understand that POV, Keith. No, I was not aware that the dialogue from the Amazon thread had spread to or was replicated at the comment section at Veteran's Today. I don't spend a lot of time at VT, especially in the comment section. Nor do I run the place or its correspondents up the flag pole and salute them every morning. If the reaction to Duff and his commentary is as a result of that spread or replication, than that too explains things. See, part of the problem here -- doubly amplified in a asynchroncous global discussion board -- is that one poster does not see what the other poster shad read ten hours before that other poster made the comment. DPF is an obscure defile in a vast world of political dialogue. Not everyone is cognizant of everything everyone else is.

I didn't "hump a click" -- to use a term commonly used by another "vet" I know. I opted out of the path of violence while I still had the chance and never looked back. I have come to understand, though, how that "world" I was in as a snot-nosed 18-year old was deeply troubled and peopled with people whose motivations were masked. I do not see how you are capable of speaking for the common veteran in the US, given that we are including -- WWII vets mostly being dead by now -- vets from half a century (Korea, 'nam, a few brush fires, two bouts with Iraq, Afghanistan, and now beyond), but I will stipulate that you have a greater right than I.

If the issue is hate speech, fine. I'm not a fan of hate speech. But in the spirit of Ueshiba, I reserve the right to ukemi and defense and engagement in an occasional bit of force in order to defend what i hold dear. Even a bit of hate speech is acceptable if there is clarity about purpose, i.e., what you love is being degraded or corrupted or subverted. That said, I'm not bashing Charles Drago. As a member of DPF, I am simply asking -- as I do being a citizen of the USofA -- for clarification, adjustment, the establishment of standard, direction, policy, clarity, etc.

It is probably a good time for me to state that I do not endorse right wingers of any kind (Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, neo-cons, and virtually all others above the level of first-term Congress-critters)(the e-mail I just read from a fellow witness with text from a mutually-know third party be interesting reading, but it's not my right role or responsibility to post it), but nor do I endorse what has become of the Democratic Party or the liberal wing or progressives since the Clintons, or certainly under Obama. They have all fallen into a giant cesspool of deep political, moral, financial, criminal, ethical and moral corruption. The media are right in there swimming with them.

I guess I swallowed the Kool-Aid about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
