Thread: Why on Earth are they investigating THOMAS ARTHUR VALLEE on 12/5/63?

The report of SA Shanahan, from Chicago, also includes a discussion with William Trail... a marine serving with Oswald in Japan, TAIWAN (you know the place he never took a ship to or from since he was begin treated for an STD in Atsugi) and Santa Ana...

I thought the entire Chcago attempt was swept under the rug... Curious what the members here think of VALLEE coming up so early and them haveing so much info on him.

  2. Question Train of thought on track?

I seem to recall a discusion about the Chicago "attempt" being a fake to draw attention away from Dallas and a real assassination attempt. Maybe so, but I am not convinced. And, some similarities between a couple of "patsies", to me, indicate a possible attempt that failed to occur and that led to Dallas on 11/22/63. JMO.

"Well, he would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies, 1963, replied Ms Rice Davies when the prosecuting counsel pointed out that Lord Astor denied an affair or having even met her.

    Thats a really good find.

Weird report. Doesn't say specifically Vallee was in any way involved in CHicago. And if they had the underlying reports they would not have needed to request an ammunition comparison.

So we don't know how much they actually knew.

  5. Thumbs up Not convinced, but open minded...

Thanks Ms Hassan, and I believe that hypothesis is the discussion that I now recall. It could absolutely be the case, and although not convinced I remain open minded.

    Indeed Jim...

It just seemed very strange to me that within a few days the FBI in Chicago writes a report on Vallee... why?

He cannot be considered a LEAD...
He would have nothing at all to do with 11/22
How would his name even come up? Does the FBI go into their files and search for anyone in the country who comes to their attention based on the type of ammunition they confiscated from them... By HAND?

So I am back into the CD pages looking for all reports coming from Chicago...

    http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/ar...48&relPageId=2 VALLEE mentioned again

http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/ar...8&relPageId=16 SS report on VALLEE, his arrest and what was found.. and that VALLEE was the only person appearing before a certain judge on ammunition charges...

http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/ar...3&relPageId=19 Only VALLEE arrested on 11/2 related to JFK protection...

    I'll keep looking

  7. Default More denials of the Chicago incident by media

    http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/ar...48&relPageId=2

"There is no truth to the story that four men were arrested in Chicago on 11/2 carry concealed weapons, one of which men was reported to be OSWALD..."

YET on 1/14/64 they do tell us about VALLEE again.... followed by a page that is virtually illegible but obviously reiterates the VALLEE situation in court.

it seems that most every report by FBI Agent Shanahan in Chacago contains references to VALLEE...

The wording makes it sound like the were investigating the fact that Vallee had ammunition similar to Oswald.

They say Oswald thought he was smarter than the other soldiers. "Smart" is a synonym for intelligent and intelligent for 'intel'.

The memo could be a veiled message that any "similarity" between Vallee and Oswald was smart or intel connected and therefore off limits.

This could be my over active imagination or it could be something.

  9. Default VALLEE did NOT have 6.5mm rounds.... Chicago FBI is investigating Oswald not VALLEE...

I'm thinking "over imagination" on that one Albert...

Oswald remained very aloof... ignoring the company of others for his own agenda... reading books most of the time...
I believe that's where so many who came in contact with him considered him "smart"... but also arrogant...

In a world where we send soldiers to be spies... I'd have to imagine that creating a believeable "trail" of communism interest before the fake defection was part of the process..

Yet... in a city FILLED with crime, gangsters, the mafia, etc..., Chicago, the primary subject in reports coming from this FBI location seems to always include VALLEE...
AND a denial that 4 others were "of interest" that day...

If we did not know about the Chicago plot... which the assumption had to be given what they did to make it disappear... what's with the attention on VALLEE... just the ammo?

Except he had an M-1, a pistol a knife and 2500 rounds (assume for the M-1 and pistol... NOT a 6.5mm MC)
and he had 750 rounds purchased from Sears in his trunk when arrested... Sears does not sell CIA ordered 6.5mm rounds for 20 year old rifles do they?

So what's the justification for all the attention when FBI-Chicago is suuposed to be following OSWALD leads...

Maybe. But remember Oswald's aloof study was because he was a CIA covert operative.

Perhaps FBI just wanted to make it look like they investigated any Oswald Vallee connections in order to reference it so they could say they already looked in to it. Sort of like the same way the Commission spent so much time on Ruth Paine so they could make it look like they did thorough scrutiny.
