Default José Elías de la Torriente

I'm not sure if there was ever a topic started on José Elías de la Torriente, please forgive me if there was, for some reason I couldn't find it. May we start a thread on him? I've been wondering he's true nature of death, and how he was killed, does anyone have any information about him? Thanks!

I'm not sure where I read it but several researchers has said Torriente was shot by a sniper fring through his window while watching TV. Does anyone really care about history and its truth?

I don't think we have a thread on Jose Elias de la Torriente here Scott. It will be good to see what can be found out about him.
"I think it would be a good idea." Mahatma Gandhi, when asked what he thought of Western civilization.

    Karl Marx.

"Well, he would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies, 1963, replied Ms Rice Davies when the prosecuting counsel pointed out that Lord Astor denied an affair or having even met her.

Bill Kelly did some excellent research on him, I'm not sure where others received their information regarding Torriente's assassination, from my understanding, Gustavo Velloldo was apart of that group and in charge of Torriente's military. I also discovered Guatavo's name and number in my father's address book, when I called Gustavo and asked him some questions he said he doesn't do interviews anymore and denies ever knowing the Cubanos Unidos or my father. Through further research I discovered it was Gustavo who called the FBI to inform them that Wilfredo Navarro and others were involved in a theft of a Bertram boat from some shipping yard in Miami.

If Gustavo didn't know my father how did Gustavo's name and number end up in my father's address book? If he didn't know the Cubanos Unidos how then did he know who stole the boat? It seemed to me he didn't want to talk to me, I later found out that my father was also apart of the Torriente Plan.

I feel the real need to express that anything I post about my father has nothing to do with boasting or bragging, just the truth is all I'm trying my best to expose. You see, Torriente was not killed while watching TV he was lured outside his home by someone from another rival anti-Castro group, someone Torriente knew, as soon as he was killed word spread around Miami very fast that it was a political hit by Fidel Castro. Later, other information would circulate that someone assassinated Torriente because of his failed invasion attempt to Cuba, but, that's not true either. The actual invasion was first announced so to inform Castro just as they did with the Bay of Pigs, however, Torriente's Plan was to postpone the invasion leaving Castro to believe it wasn't going to happen, but before it could be carried out Torriente was assassinated. The reason he was, was because Torriente had gone to the FBI just days before his assassination and informed the FBI that the Cubanos Unidos had been financing their operations and infiltration's into Cuba with the sales of drugs.

It does hurt to have to talk about this stuff, but I've found the best way for me to heal is to talk about this stuff. Torriente was shot twice in the back, one bullet missed, and the fourth shot hit him in the throat he lived for 81 minutes then died at the hospital.

On June 30, 1971 José de la Torriente, a well known person in Miami and leader of an exile group known as Plan Torriente, said that the CU had a plan where they would set up a base in Haiti for operations against Cuba. Torriente and his associates had discovered that the CU operations would be financed by the profits made from the sales of illegal drugs. Because of this, Torriente and his group refused any co-operation with the CU. Torriente turned this information over to the U.S. Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. A few days after he reported this, Torriente would be assassinated. Torriente had retired as vice president of Collins Radio and was living in Coral Gables, Florida. Scott (Kaiser) asked (name unknown) [Richard Poyle] if he knew anything about a large amount of drugs being smuggled by small boats with Cubans from the United States. “I met more and more Cubans and got involved in their problems more and more and as I did I understand that to help them in their fight in Cuba would help cut off the head of the snake who is biting us. Who is poisoning our sanity with drugs and drugs leads to pimps and prostitution. FBI 105-18943.

When Torriente went to the FBI to inform them that the Cubanos Unidos were financing their operations through drugs, SA Robert Dwyer questioned Edwin Kaiser if this was true, my father said no, he's not aware of any drugs flowing through the group nor is he aware of how Navarro is receiving the funding to train his group, my father went on to say, if Navarro is receiving funds, he wasn't getting paid. Edwin Kaiser said, he was not, and has not been associated with any drugs to finance any operations. Three days later after Torriente reported this information to the FBI a sniper fired at Torriente. Special Agent Robert Dwyer did some investigation on Kaiser and it appeared that Kaiser was then somehow involved in narcotics supplied by the CIA. Kaiser put $15,000 down as a deposit on a home, bought a new Eldorado Cadillac for himself and a new Buick automobile for his wife.

Yes.... The truth will set me free!

The plan to set up base in Haiti in June 1971 was just two months after the assassination of Papa Doc, and yes! You are all right again, Kaiser was involved in Papa Doc's assassination, do I have proof you ask? Well, I'm glad you asked, I do.
