Thread: Why Sweden? Why Julian Assange? Why now?

Default Why Sweden? Why Julian Assange? Why now?

Over the next few days I am posing some exploratory research in to this matter. It is a collaborative effort of many thousands of hours of work by many people but the others cannot be named at this time. Just going to start putting it down while my memory is fresh and just in stream of consciousness and perhaps hopefully in a vague chronological order.

I think it worth noting that Julian Assange is not only a target in himself but also seen as a commodity by others as will become clearer. At the moment he is more valuable alive than dead, to some.

More than anything in the whole world the US wants to stop Julain Assange and make an example of him to any other potential whistle blowers, now and in the future, any where in the world to NOT even think about following in Julian's footsteps and blow the whistle on the secrets of the masters of the Universe. It can be safely assumed that the US is doing all it can to gain control of the future of Julian Assange.

    First some scene setting.

Wallenberg family made their money through banking. They have since diversified into industrial areas in their investments.
In particular they made huge profits during WW2 using their bank to cover as a cloak for the Nazi regime and helped
important German corporations like Bosch, IG Farben and Krupp to hide their foreign subsidiaries in order to avoid
confiscation by the Allied governments. Also their Enskilda Bank to help the Nazis dispose of assets seized from Dutch
Jews who died in the Holocaust. It is reported that Sweden received 38 tons of gold from Nazi Germany (worth today US $430 million).

(The following article was published in "The Guardian", newspaper of the Socialist Party of Australia in its issue of Wednesday, June 19th, 1996). Among the Swedish companies that grew rich by aiding the Nazis was the Enskilda bank, owned by the Wallenberg family. The Safehaven documents reveal that the US government had been tracking the pro-Nazi activities of the Wallenberg brothers, Marcus and Jacob, for some time.

In February of 1945, the Secretary of the US Treasury, Henry Morgenthau Jr., wrote to Secretary of State Edward Stettinius outlining the Wallenbergs’ activities.

These included making "substantial" loans to German industry during the War without collateral and making covert investments for German capitalists in US industries. The Enskilda bank, Morgenthau reported, was "repeatedly connected with large black market operations".

Morgenthau identifies Jacob Wallenberg as "strongly pro-German" and rebuts the view, probably fostered by Wallenberg interests themselves, that Marcus was "pro-Allied".

Helping to finance Hitler’s war, the Wallenbergs seem to have been playing both ends against the middle, with considerable success. The family remains prominent in Swedish business circles to this day.

Playing both ends against the middle seems to have been a Wallenberg specialty. While his family’s bank was funding Hitler and helping to hide Nazi investments, Marcus and Jacob’s nephew Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat in Budapest, was saving an estimated 20,000 Jews from deportation by providing them with special Swedish passports.

When the Red Army liberated Budapest in January 1945, Wallenberg was arrested as an American spy and vanished. The charge has always been pooh-poohed by Western commentators who preferred to see it as evidence of Soviet "anti-Jewish" sentiment.

However, earlier this month US News & World Report reported that a review of recently declassified documents (quite separate from Operation Safehaven) showed that Wallenberg in fact spied for the OSS, predecessor of the CIA.

Curiously, this confirmation of the Soviet charge received remarkably little publicity. One of the most tantalizing of the Safehaven documents is a 1944 account of a secret meeting in the French city of Strasbourg, at which Nazi leaders told top German industrialists that the war was lost and called on them to finance an underground network aimed at eventually restoring fascism to power in Germany.

It is not known to what extent these plans were ever carried out or what influence they had on the development of the post-war reactionary Adenhauer regime in West Germany.

What is known is that US Senator Harley M Kilgore, of the Kilgore Committee, repeatedly warned during 1945 and ‘46 that the German cartel apparatus, instead of being destroyed as required under the Quebec, Yalta and Potsdam agreements, was being deliberately built up.

However, in spite of the dedicated efforts of democratically-minded people like Senator Kilgore and Russell Nixon, the connections between US, British and French capitalists and their German, Swedish, Swiss and other supposedly "neutral" counterparts would ensure that the search for Nazi assets and Nazi business interests would in the long term be largely unproductive.
Another bank that got rich during the war dealing with the Nazis was Union Banking Corporation.

The grandfather of President George Walker Bush (Skull & Bones, 1968) was Prescott Bush (Skull & Bones, 1917), and his great grand father was George Herbert Walker. Prescott Bush and George Herbert (Bert) Walker were directors of the London-affiliated New York banking house of Brown Brothers-Harriman and its various fronts, which funded and directed the military-industrial complex behind Hitler and the Nazi revolution.

In 1919, George Herbert Walker had organized W.A. Harriman & Co which merged with the British Brown Brothers in 1931. In 1924, Averell Harriman (Skull & Bones, 1913) and Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist who began funding Hitler in 1923, set up the Union Banking Corp in New York to handle funds supplied to it through Thyssen's Dutch bank for American investment. Prescott Bush, who had been an officer of the W.A. Harriman bank since 1926, was a director of the Union Banking Corp from 1934 through 1943. According to government documents, "all of the shares of the Union Banking Corp., were held for the benefit of members of the Thyssen family."

The federal government did not crack down on the Bush-Harriman/Nazi operation until 1942. After the war, Congressional investigation revealed that Fritz Thyssen's German Steel Trust, Germany's largest industrial corporation [which interlocked with Union Banking Corporation] produced a high percentage of Germany's national output of metal products and explosives. Vesting Orders signed by the Office of Alien Property Custodian, Leo T. Crowley, which were "published in obscure government record books and kept out of the news, explained nothing about the Nazis involved; only that the Union Banking Corporation was run for the 'Thyssen family' of 'Germany and/or Hungary'-- 'nationals...of a designated enemy country.'"

"In October 1942, ten months after entering World War II, America was preparing its first assault against Nazi military forces. Prescott Bush was managing partner of Brown Brothers Harriman. His 18-year-old son George, the future U.S. President, had just begun training to become a naval pilot. On Oct. 20, 1942, the U.S. government ordered the seizure of Nazi German banking operations in New York City which were being conducted by Prescott Bush.

"Under the Trading with the Enemy Act, the government took over the Union Banking Corporation, in which Bush was a director. The U.S. Alien Property Custodian seized Union Banking Corp.'s stock shares, all of which were owned by Prescott Bush, E. Roland 'Bunny' Harriman, three Nazi executives, and two other associates of Bush. 1.

'E. Roland Harriman--3991 shares' [chairman and director of Union Banking Corp. (UBC); this is 'Bunny' Harriman, described by Prescott Bush as a place holder who didn't get much into banking affairs; Prescott managed his personal investments]

'Cornelis Lievense--4 shares' [president and director of UBC; New York resident banking functionary for the Nazis]

'Harold D. Pennington--1 share' [treasurer and director of UBC; an office manager employed by Bush at Brown Brothers Harriman]

'Ray Morris--1 share' [director of UBC; partner of Bush and the Harrimans]

'Prescott S. Bush--1 share' [director of UBC, which was co-founded and sponsored by his father-in-law George Walker; senior managing partner for E. Roland Harriman and Averell Harriman]

'H.J. Kouwenhoven--1 share' [director of UBC; organized UBC as the emissary of Fritz Thyssen in negotiations with George Walker and Averell Harriman; managing director of UBC's Netherlands affiliate under Nazi occupation; industrial executive in Nazi Germany; director and chief foreign financial executive of the German Steel Trust]

'Johann G. Groeninger--1 share' [director of UBC and of its Netherlands affiliate; industrial executive in Nazi Germany]

"all of which shares are held for the benefit of ... members of the Thyssen family, [and] is property of nationals ... of a designated enemy country...."

"By Oct. 26, 1942, U.S. troops were under way for North Africa. On Oct. 28, the government issued orders seizing two Nazi front organizations run by the Bush-Harriman bank: the Holland-American Trading Corporation and the Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation. 2.

"U.S. forces landed under fire near Algiers on Nov. 8, 1942; heavy combat raged throughout November. Nazi interests in the Silesian-American Corporation, long managed by Prescott Bush and his father-in-law George Herbert Walker, were seized under the Trading with the Enemy Act on Nov. 17, 1942. In this action, the government announced that it was seizing only the Nazi interests, leaving the Nazis' U.S. partners to carry on the business. 3.

"These and other actions taken by the U.S. government in wartime were, tragically, too little and too late. President Bush's family had already played a central role in financing and arming Adolf Hitler for his takeover of Germany; in financing and managing the buildup of Nazi war industries for the conquest of Europe and war against the U.S.A.; and in the development of Nazi genocide theories and racial propaganda, with their well-known results.

"The facts presented here must be known, and their implications reflected upon, for a proper understanding of President George Herbert Walker Bush and of the danger to mankind that he represents. The President's family fortune was largely a result of the Hitler project. The powerful Anglo-American family associations, which later boosted him into the Central Intelligence Agency and up to the White House, were his father's partners in the Hitler project." 4.

How and to what extent did the Bush family direct the Hitler Project from the 1920s until it was partially broken up in 1942? "In what way were Hitler's Nazis themselves hired, armed and instructed by the New York and London clique of which Prescott Bush was an executive manager?"

Equally germane is the question why? "How important was the Nazi enterprise for which President Bush's father was the New York banker?" What possible interest would George Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush have had in overseeing the Nazi operation?

The Wallenbergs and Bushes are friends going back a long long time. Bushes are also friends with the House of Saud.
Close friend of the Bushes, Karl Rove, spends quite a bit of time in Sweden when not dealing with criminal charges in the US.
Some of his nearest and dearest friends in Sweden work at TIMBRO, Prime PR, oh, and one is the current Prime Minister of Sweden.
Karl Rove is known to have worked on the strategy and campaign for Prime Minister Reinfeldt.

Here is the logo for the 'Moderate' party from an old campaign poster
Don't look too moderate to me. It looks like it would frighten children if they saw this.

As we know from the charges that KR is on in the US his preferred strategy and tactics are not Marquis of Queensbury.
    Wanna know who this is?

Billy McCormac, Karl Rove and Fredrik Andersson. AKA Karl Rove and his Swedish henchmen.
Karl Rove, as previously discussed, is paid to help the Swedish Right under Frederik Reinfeldt, win elections. His Henchmen run a PR company called Prime PR.
Prime PR has recently been caught out with Primegate..
Where members of the left wing social democrats were paid in secret to send their party more right wing.
Don't that one say 'Karl Rove' all over it?
But wait! Theres more. From Anna Ardin of all people!!/therealardin
18th September.. "En man utanför min toa när jag besökte Prime PR: "vi behöver nån i trafik, jag snackar med Micke"
["A man outside my bathroom when I visited Prime PR: "We need someone in traffic, I'm talking with Mike""]
Don't bother deleting it dear, theres a screenshot.

So, theres Karl Rove, up to his ears in the Bushs' dodgy dealings. Terrified of Wikileaks and called upon to win an election for Reinfeldt and the Swedish right. Which he did.
    Get the picture yet?
    Swedish Cabinet..
Reinfeld head of the dungheap, Beatrice Ask Minister for Justice who just happens to be Marianne Ny's boss.
And Karl Rove thinking one good deed deserves another? Or bad deed or whatever.
So how many people does it take to connect Rove to Assange?
    Several routes are possible.
Assange > Ardin > Prime PR > Rove.
Assange > Ny > Beatrice Ask > Reinfeldt > Rove.
And if you credit the rumour that Thomas Bodstrom is currently negotiating to switch sides and join Reinfeldt..
    Assange > Ardin > Borgstrom > Bodstrom > Reinfeldt > Rove.
Assange > Ardin > Swedish police > duty prosecutor > duty prosecutor's husband > Beatrice Ask > Reinfeldt > Rove.
The only missing piece now is Sofia Wilen.
Perhaps she turned up unexpectedly and looked, to Ardin, like a better plan than the original, which was perhaps something of a non-starter if Assange inisisted they stop at only one compromising photograph. Or perhaps the brief was to encourage him into rough sex she could later use as evidence of r*pe, and he refused?
If there was a plan, it was not executed yet as she insisted he stay when friends offered to take him in.
If something went wrong, Sofia Wilen must have looked like a gift from the gods.
And Ardin, a creature with more initiative than brains and extremely over-confident, ran with an alternative mission of her own devising, modelled on the one mentioned on her Twitter feed 18th January 2010, previously carried out on her fiance.
This would explain how you can be part of a setup and still leave that stupid blog lying round.
Which would mean she is currently in hiding on the West Bank - not from her adoring public - but from Karl Rove.

Time line of events happening to Asange
April 5, 2010 - Internet group WikiLeaks releases a video showing a 2007 U.S. helicopter attack that killed a dozen people in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, including two Reuters news staff.

-- Eight days later U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates criticizes WikiLeaks, saying it released the video without providing any context explaining the situation.

June 7 - The U.S. military says that Army Specialist Bradley Manning, who was deployed to Baghdad, has been arrested in connection with the release of the classified video.

July 25 - More than 91,000 documents, most of which are secret U.S. military reports about the war in Afghanistan, are released by
-- The "Afghan War Diary" is a compilation of documents and reports, covering the war in Afghanistan back to 2004.

In early August, Julian Assange, WikiLeaks editor-in-chief, goes to Sweden, possibly to explore basing the organisation there. Sweden has very good journalistic shield and media protection laws. Iceland had been the previous base — and a WikiLeaks holding company, Sunshine Press, is still based there. By Assange’s account, the sway of the US over Iceland’s politics made the country unsuitable for the organisation.

In early August, 31-year-old Anna Ardin, a political officer with the “Brotherhood”, a leftish Christian faction of the Social Democratic Party, invites Assange to speak at a “Brotherhood” function in Stockholm, which she organised. She also offers him accommodation, and Assange moves into her Stockholm apartment on August 13. The sexual encounter that will later form the basis of Ardin’s complaint takes place either that night or Saturday. (Unconfirmed: It is often reported that Assange came to Sweden at the invitation of Ardin, which may be significant if true. However, this cannot be fully verified. WikiLeaks has used Swedish servers as hosts for the site, and the possibility of basing the organisation there had been suggested previously).
Assange addresses the meeting on Saturday August 14. Also in attendance was 26-year-old photographer Sofia Wilen. She also attended the lunch after the event, where, reportedly, she and Assange flirted, and spent the afternoon together, seeing a movie. (Unconfirmed: Assange’s and Wilen’s sexual relationship begins at this stage) Meanwhile, Ardin sends a tweet: “Julian really wants to attend a crayfish party, anyone got two spare places”?*(*crayfish parties are a traditional summer activity in Sweden, less formal than usual, but more formal than, say, a barbecue. You can’t just turn up with extra guests. There being none going, it appears that Ardin arranges an impromptu one at her apartment.)
In the evening, Assange returns to the crayfish party. In attendance are several members of Sweden’s libertarian “Pirate Party”, some journalists and others. From the party Ardin tweets, “i’m with the most important, exciting people in the world”. Assange texts Wilen from the party.
On Monday August 16, Assange goes on the train with Wilen to her apartment in Enkoping (Ardin is out of Stockholm during the week), and stays the night. It is the events of this night that will form the basis of the complaint to the police in Wilen’s name. Wilen will later tell police that Assange spent most of the train trip ignoring her and checking his computer.

On Wednesday August 18, Ardin tells Assange that he is no longer welcome to stay in her apartment. Assange refuses to leave and does not depart until Friday August 20.

On Wednesday August 18 or the 19th, Ardin and Wilen exchanged texts and arrange to meet. (Unconfirmed: tweets from Wilen are made at this time regarding the events of the previous days. Wilen’s internet presence later disappears so completely that Swedish hacker sites conclude that a professional clean-up job has been performed).

On Friday August 20, Ardin and Wilen go to Klara police station in Stockholm to make inquiries about the possibility of forcing Assange to take an STI test. From the interview, the duty officer concludes that there may be grounds for charges. The on-duty prosecutor (a junior fill-in prosecutor, during the Swedish summer holidays) agrees and issues charges — one for rape/sexual assault for matters concerning Wilen, the other for “ofredande” (o-freda, unfreedom) a misdemeanour best translated as “annoyance”, applying to sexual and non-sexual crimes, in matters concerning Ardin.(Note: there is no equivalent to ofredande in English law, in terms of its reach across private and public life in Sweden. The charge applies equally to bothering someone repeatedly in the street, to the sexual conduct cited in this case. The usual translation of “molestation” is quite misleading in terms of the word’s connotations in Swedish).

The details of the charges are immediately leaked to Espressen, the Stockholm tabloid comparable to the Herald-Sun, in style and politics. The leaks come either from the complainants, or the police. Contacted by the paper, the duty prosecutor confirms the charges, an act which is illegal under Swedish law.The duty prosecutor is later quoted as not being aware that it was illegal to do this.
Eva Finne, the chief prosecutor for the Stockholm region, hears of the charges in the news, and has the case file couriered to her holiday house. On Saturday

August 21, she rescinds the rape charge, but allows the ofredande charge to stand. On the basis of the police interview with Wilen, Finne says that she does not dispute her story, but sees no description of rape within the statements.

On Saturday August 21 (published August 22), Ardin gives an anonymous interview to Aftonbladet, the Stockholm broadsheet. In this Ardin remarked that: “The other woman wanted to report a rape. I gave my story as testimony to her story and to support her. / I immediately believed her account because I had an experience similar to hers. /It is quite untrue that we are afraid of Assange and and therefore didn’t want to report him. He is not violent and I do not feel threatened by him./ The charges against Assange are of course not orchestrated by either the Pentagon or anyone else. The responsibility for what happened to me and the other girl is with a man with a warped attitude to women and a problem with taking no for an answer.” (Ardin’s remarks appear to be responses to several questions by the reporter, so I’ve separated them with slashes).

On Monday August 23 or the 24th, lawyer Claes Borgstrom becomes involved in the case. It is unclear whether the complainants approached him or vice versa. Borgstrom is a former minister in the Social Democratic Party, and was a for a time the “gender equality ombudsman”, a civil service post.

On Tuesday August 24, Swedish feminist blog Rebella, which is run by Ardin and others, posts a long article by Sara Gunnerud entitled “even WikiLeaks heroes can do crappy things”, which gives one account of what happened. This alleged that Assange had continued sex after a condom had broken, despite the complainant’s wish to discontinue. It also mentioned the women’s desire that Assange take an STI test. The posting was later removed from the Rebella website, and is also retrieved from the Google cache.

About this time, two tweets are deleted from Ardin’s twitter account — one organising the crayfish party on August 14, and one from the crayfish party announcing that she is with the most exciting people in the world. The tweets are retrieved from the Google cache by a libertarian website.
During this week, there is a great deal of blogosphere attention to an item on Ardin’s blog, a “7-step guide to revenge on ex-lovers”. This item, posted on January 19, 2010, a translation of joke material on a US website, features a detailed list of ways to hurt ex-lovers. On September 1, in the comments string, one commenter chides her for being “obsessed with revenge”. Ardin denies the charge, going on to say: “Even though I right now have kind of a strong feeling of punching you in the face … Sometimes it is difficult to go on without some kind of payback. As a human being you should be able to understand that. In this case I was very upset with a former fiancé who betrayed me for a long time. My revenge at that point consisted in posting this translation.”

On August 30, Borgstrom approached Marianne Ny, who is the head of a special unit in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second city, 200 kilometres from Stockholm. Ny heads a special “crime development unit” and is a specialist in the development of sex crime law. Sweden’s state system allows for different departments to act “entrepreneurially” — thus, one can apply to multiple agencies (especially in the area of ombudsmen) for similar services.

On August 31, Assange is interviewed by the prosecutor’s office. However, this interview concerns only the “ofredande” accusations. Assange tells Swedish TV that he rejects all the accusations, that he does not engage in non-consensual sex, and declines to answer questions about any relationship to the complainants. Asked to respond to the charges he replies that he “does not criticise women”, but is losing faith in the Swedish justice system.

Also on August 31, Assange applies for a work and residency permit in Sweden. The permit would be essential to his plan to found WikiLeaks as a media company in Sweden, with full protection of media shield laws.

On September 1, Ny re-opened the investigation into r-pe. There were now three “pre-charges” — one of rape of Ardin, one of misconduct against Ardin, one of rape against Wilen.

At some point in September, Ardin deleted from her blog the seven-step guide to revenge, which features on Ardin’s blog. This is a translation of a US joke website item, which details ways in which to get revenge on ex-lovers. This too is retrieved from the Google cache by others. No other items are deleted from Ardin’s blog.

On October 22, WikiLeaks releases the “Iraq War logs” 300,000 documents from the Iraq War, after weeks of pre-publicity, and warnings by the US government not to do so.Accounts now vary concerning events. Assange’s Swedish lawyer, Bjorn Hurtig, says that he made repeated attempts to arrange for Assange to answer questions from Ny. Ny’s Gothenburg office claims no approach was made.

On October 30, Assange’s request for a work and residence permit in Sweden is refused.

November 18 - A Swedish court orders Assange's detention as a result of an investigation begun in September by the prosecutor's office into allegations of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion.

On November 20, the Swedish courts issued an arrest warrant for Assange, to appear to answer questions from the prosecutor’s office. No charges had been laid, nor accusations specified by the office.

November 28 - WikiLeaks releases more than 250,000 U.S. diplomatic cables that include candid views of foreign leaders and blunt assessments of security threats.

On November 28, the first of the Cablegate logs were released in major parts of the world’s press, prompting calls in the US for the assassination or arrest of Assange.

On November 30, Interpol issued a “red notice” on the basis of the Swedish warrant, advising that Assange was a person to be detained by police authorities across the world.

Assange's lawyer, Bjorn Hurtig, lodges an appeal against an arrest order with Sweden's High Court. Sweden's court refuses permission to Assange to appeal on December 2.

December 7 - Assange is arrested by British police on a European warrant issued by Sweden and held in jail after a judge refuses to grant bail to the 39-year-old.
-- Swedish prosecutor Marianne Ny says the sexual misconduct case against Assange is a personal matter and not connected with his work releasing secret U.S. diplomatic cables.
    - as pre-arranged, Assange surrendered himself to UK police, and appeared in court on a bail hearing ahead of a battle over extradition. At this point, the Crown Prosecution Service, acting for the Swedish Prosecutors Office, read out four “charges”: rape charge: that Assange had held Ardin down, forcibly parted her legs, and had sex with her ofredande charge: that Assange had had unsafe sex with her, despite her earlier statement that she was most opposed to the practice, thereby violating her sexual integrity ofredande charge: that Assange had pushed his erect penis into Ardin’s back, thereby violating her sexual integrity sexual assault charge: that Assange had had unsafe sex with Wilen while she was sleeping.
Assange was remanded in custody due to his lack of ties to UK community, and permanent residency, with a new hearing set for December 14.

December 14 - The world media and protesters besiege the road outside City of Westminster Magistrates' Court where Assange is appearing on an extradition warrant. :: He is granted conditional bail but must provide a security of £200,000 to the court and guarantee two sureties, each of £20,000.
:: The court's decision is welcomed by high profile supporters Jemima Khan, Tariq Ali and John Pilger.
:: Two hours later, the Swedish authorities challenge the decision to grant bail and the Australian is kept behind bars until a more senior judge can hear the appeal.

December 16 - Assange is granted conditional bail at the High Court in London after his supporters pay £240,000 in cash and sureties.
:: In court, the judge rules that supporters and journalists should not use the micro-blogging site Twitter to give instant coverage.
:: Assange makes a statement on the court steps whilst his mother Christine says she is ''very, very happy'' with the decision.

December 17 - Assange claims the investigation in to him is illegal, saying he has not been provided with any evidence relating to the allegations.

January 11 2011 - Assange appears at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court in preperation for a two-day full extradition hearing.

February 7 - The WikiLeaks founder appears at the first day of the extradition hearing at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court, where the Swedish prosecutor is accused of having a ''biased view'' against men.
:: Swedish officials confirm they wish to prosecute, rather than just question Assange.

February 8 - During the second day of the hearing, the court is told that a hoard of secret text messages could hold the key to finally clearing Assange's name.
:: Former Swedish prosecutor, Sven-Erik Alhem, gives a wandering witness testimony with sharp exchanges between the defence and prosecution.
February 11 - Assange appears at the final day of the hearing where the case is adjourned to February 24.
:: His lawyers claim extradition would breach his human rights and fear he could ultimately be taken against his will to the United States and executed.

February 24 - District Judge Howard Riddle rules that Assange should be extradited.

    Some key points:
There are four formal accusations against Assange: three by complainant A (Anna Ardin): one of r-pe (using body weight to hold down and forcibly parting legs), and two of ofredande/misconduct/harassment: unsafe sex, and pressing p-nis against back. One by complainant S (Sofia Wilen): sexual assault, sex while complainant was sleeping.
These were first made public at Assange’s extradition bail hearing on December 7. They vary from earlier accusations, both formal and informal.
There remains confusion as to whether these are formal criminal charges, or retain the status of accusation.
No supporting evidence was produced by the UK Crown Prosecution Service, acting for the Swedish Prosecutor in this matter. The judge made specific criticisms of the prosecution for this omission. Refusal of bail for Assange was based on his lack of community ties, not on any aspect of the charges per se.
Contrary to many reports there is no accusation of consent being discontinued mid-act. Though this may emerge as part of the detail, none of the accusations turn on the issue of withdrawn consent.
Neither of the accusations involving unsafe sex are being made as full rape accusations.
The accusation of physical force has not been previously aired, and is contradicted by interviews that the complainant gave immediately after charges were made on August 20.
Since the initial withdrawal of the rape investigation and its aftermath, there has been no public statement by either complainant. As elsewhere, the Swedish prosecution service is at liberty to continue an investigation, even if the initial complainants do not wish to continue it.

There have been 2 big deals going down while Julian Assange has been at the mercy of the court systems on Swedish allegations of sex crimes.

Wallenberg company ABB is a repeat offender of many crimes including corruption and other unethical business practices and has had many dealing with the US Department of Justice. See here:
Donald Rumsfeld use to be on the board of ABB and had an active role with ABB getting the contacts with North Korea to build two nuclear power plants.

Don't forget that the Dept of Justice (sic) is currently headed by Eric Holder. The guy who gave the green light for the pardon of the very dubious Marc Rich. So, if nothing else he's a willing tool prepared to do very dodgy deals. And he's been prepared to change the rules for the Wallenbergs once before. See below.

ABB want to buy Baldor Electric Company but is being prevented because it violates Anti-Trust laws and they need the Dept of Justice to approve this acquisition which they did on Jan 20th.

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Justice Department's antitrust division has given the green light to ABB Ltd.'s $3.1 billion acquisition of Baldor Electric Co., the two companies said Thursday.
Swiss-based ABB announced in November its plans to buy Fort Smith, Ark.-based Baldor. The Justice Department clearance was the last regulatory hurdle facing the deal.
Earlier Thursday, ABB said it was extending for a second time its tender offer to buy all of Baldor's outstanding shares. Investors of the industrial-motor company now have until Tuesday to tender their shares, if they have not already.
The tender offer had been set to expire Wednesday. By then, Baldor investors had offered to sell about 42.1 million shares, or 88.8 percent of outstanding shares.
When the deal was first announced, ABB said it would make the company a market leader for industrial motors, including high-efficiency motors. The U.S. market for high-efficiency motors is expected to grow up to 15 percent this year.
The deal values Baldor at $63.50 per share. The day before ABB announced the deal, Baldor's stock stood at $45.11. The shares closed Thursday at $63.42. ABB's U.S.-traded shares ended down 50 cents, or 2 percent, at $22.81.
So, the US gave something the Wallenbergs wanted.
But Jacob still wants to own NASDAQ and be a real king maker and get that chair on the board as suggested in that December 16th press release above. The Dubai Bourse it the main shareholder of NASDAQ. Co-incidentally, a bloke called Per Larsson was CEO of the Dubai Bourse until 2008. He stayed on in Dubai where he now works for UBS in their Middle East and North Africa section.

Anyway, AB Investor had to sell some of its NASDAQ shares a few years ago to pay for getting into big Pharma through their purchase of Astra Zenica in the UK. Probably regrets it now. Wants back in on NASDAQ.

But there are obstacles to that. The Saudis, friends of the Bush's, don't like Wkileaks any more than the Americans do and are prepared to help by selling some shares to the Wallenbergs but they don't wan to give up any of their chairs on the NASDAQ board to the them even though the Wallenbergs are prepared to pay big $s to get in there. And if they're paying big $s they want to at least get a chair on the board of NASDAQ. So the SEC rules look they are going to have to be changed to accommodate the Wallenbergs so they can get their seat on the board and so the Saudi's can keep theirs too. Not one of these guys does any thing for just nothing. and
But I'd say both the Saudi's and the Wallenbergs are in an excellent position to get what they want from the US, they may not even have to use their own money, and the US will get what they want from Sweden. And we all know what and who that is.
