For reasons not adequately explained, Paul Trejo describes John T Martin as Jack Martin, further blurring the lines between the two Jack Martins investigated in connection with the JFK Assassination and film maker and US Post Office supervisor, John Martin.
The Jack Martin of Louisiana investigated on the afternoon of the Assassination by SS NOLA SAIC John Rice moved later to Minnesota, as did Post Office safety program manager John Martin, transferred from Dallas after 1963.
It is unavoidable this new research is an early Christmas gift for Paul Trejo, but I found the politically extreme opinions of this 17 year old so surprising, unusual, and troubling, considering the coincidence of what he allegedly managed to capture on a single short film reel, I am presenting this for broader consideration, immediately. If still living, this is a person of interest who Gary Mack should have insisted on interviewing to provide context for the film Gary accepted on behalf of the museum. To his credit, Gary only had access to, if anything, Martin's self described "turn around," sourced from Gary Schoener.
John T. Martin a St. Paul Minnesota High School senior in 1963, filmed inside Edwin Walker's leased Turtle Creek home and on the same film reel on August 9, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald in New Orleans.
I've found background on this John T. Martin. In 2012, I brought Weisberg's younger friend Gary Schoener to Trejo's attention. Since then, Trejo is a self proclaimed expert on what he mislabels as the "Jack Martin" film. Until now, a John T. Martin born in California on November 9, 1943, was presumed to be the young film maker. This birth date validates Gary Schoener's 2012 recollection of his 1968 encounter with John T Martin of St. Paul, who Gary recalled Martin permitting him to borrow the original short film and make copies for himself and Harold Weisberg. The two researchers either did not know Walker's home interior was also in the film, or were too intent on hoping to study and identify faces near or accompanying Oswald in NOLA contained in the film.
I was uninformed until yesterday that a high school, much less an RC religious school, could be as heavily militarized as the one John T Martin graduated from in 1963. Considering Gary's 2012 recollection (as told to Paul Trejo), it is unlikely John T Martin ever served , officially under Gen. Walker, since he was not born until 1945 and his presence in 1963 in St. Paul is now accounted for. If Gary remembered accurately, what does this say about Martin claiming in 1968 to have reversed his intensely right oriented, political orientation.
Martin is last accounted for, so far, in a High School alumni bulletin as a donor, no more recently than in 2013. From the 2004 and 2018 obituaries of the father and older sister of John T Martin, d.o.b. 11/09/43, I located him in Minneapolis and a neighborhood newsletter interview of him describes his 1962 high school graduation and four following years in U.S. Navy service, including in the October, 1963 naval blockade of Cuba.
You can't make this stuff up. Were Oswald, Martin, and Walker all playing on the same team? Was Oswald working to "flush" these "types" out?
Or, considering DPD recovered "evidence" of Oswald surveillance of Gen. Edwin Walker's residence, including the image below from Jesse Curry's 1969
book, were Oswald and John T. Martin set up as patsy "book ends," two young men of opposite extremes, on paper at least, to be presented to fill the role many suspect Oswald was positioned to fill. If reasonable to consider, expediency influenced whoever managed the "tool kit," to leave Martin in reserve.

...Cretin was founded 148 years ago in 1871 as a secondary school for boys by the Christian Brothers. In the late 1800s, the school incorporated a mandatory program of instruction grounded in the tradition of a military institute, which makes it one of the oldest such programs in the United States. Instruction included lessons in leadership, close-order drill and ceremonies, and numerous other strictly non-combat-related instruction designed to instill a sense of discipline and order in all aspects of student life. The National Defense Act of 1916 created the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), a more formalized program of instruction with national oversight for training standards and a provision for active duty and retired soldiers and officers as instructors. Cretin's "military program" became one of the very first Junior ROTC (JROTC) programs in the country, and participation remained mandatory for all students until the early 1980s, when it became voluntary.[SUP][4][/SUP][SUP][5][/SUP]...

Sixth Floor museum copy of Martin film allegedly given to Gary Mack by Martin, on condition no contact details of Martin be disclosed.
https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/36908/jo...artin-film
There is no way to confirm the Sixth Floor Museum presents the entire film. Martin suspected it was altered, in reaction to re-viewing the original and then only reel after the FBI returned it to him in late January, 1964, after borrowing it in response to his offer to the FBI for a review. NOLA FBI claimed it was not found to be useful. The address of this film maker was 1752 Iglehart, as well.

Subject: Re: Seeking the 1968 companion of Harold Weisberg...
Yes, the person is me. I was a longtime friend and co-worker with Harold. The comment about John Martin being a "student" makes me wonder whether my memory is correct. I remember him as late 20's or early 30's, but that was a long time ago. My memory was that we encountered him when he phone a radio station, not at a talk -- he called into a radio show that Harold and I did together. (I had arranged for Harold to speak a the U. of Minnesota, but believe that the radio show which followed was where we heard from him).
Ironically, on that same show a photography professional whose last name was Patsy called in and he ended up taking the Martin film and printing it out. That's how we discovered that LHO appeared to be paying attention and possibly even gesturing to someone else walking parallel to him. One figure in the film was very fat and Harold immediately remarked it looked like Dean Andrews, although there are a ton of fat people in NO and there was no way that you could see his face.
The only things I recall were that John was formerly a right-winger who was a member of the John Birch Society and the Minutemen, but somehow serving under Gen. Edwin Walker in Germany caused him to become a pacifist and have to be dischrged from the army.
The film was taken on a family trip and the other segment on it showed the zoo in NO.
We did go to his home, but I have no idea where that was. I don't even know if it was in Mpls. or St. Paul.
He took it to the FBI who copied it, but did not realize until we examined it that the FBI had returned a copy, not the original. He believed that what they gave back to him was edited but was not 100% sure. He thought some footage was missing.

From Who.What.Why
Saudi Military Base Shooter and the Unexplained 9/11 Connection Naval Air Station Pensacola was on lockdown Friday, December 6, 2019 after a Saudi Arabian military pilot training in the US opened fire leaving three people dead and several others wounded. Photo credit: © Patrick Nichols/US Navy via ZUMA Wire
Reading Time: 22 minutesThe alleged gunman in the fatal shooting Friday at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, in which at least three were killed and others wounded, is a Saudi national who had been assigned to the base for the past two years.
The training of the suspected shooter, Mohammed Alshamrani, was paid for by the Saudi government. CNN cited a law enforcement source saying that Alshamrani a second lieutenant in the Royal Saudi Air Force was vetted upon entry to the US and his background checked again after the shooting with no red flags discovered.
And the case becomes more and more bizarre. The night before the shooting, Alshamrani reportedly gave a dinner party for three other Saudis during which time they watched videos of other mass shootings.
At least one of those men apparently also videotaped outside the building during the shooting at the naval base, as the other two sat in a car watching. Coincidence? Or did they have advance knowledge of what was to take place? Later, they told investigators that they "just happened to be there at the time."
On Saturday evening, the Washington Post reported being told by an official that "There are no indications of a conspiracy at the moment." And he added "Alshamrani may have been self-radicalized." The Post also reported that Alshamrani wrote a letter shortly before the shootings condemning the US for "funding crimes against Muslims," and for supporting Israel.
Saudi extremist activity in Florida involving figures tied to the Saudi government is certainly not new. But the details have seemingly not drawn any sustained interest by US authorities. In fact, quite the opposite: Inquiries, including by law enforcement, seem to have been shut down.
Perhaps the strangest story involves ties between the 9/11 hijackers and a Saudi family living in Sarasota, FL, until just before those attacks. WhoWhatWhy investigated that matter, and was struck by the lack of interest shown by officials in the deeply disturbing particulars, which suggested possible awareness of the 9/11 plot at high levels of the Saudi royal family.
In that case, too, key figures were supposedly vetted by the US government.
As we learned, a counterterrorism officer, an FBI agent, and a senator who were determined to continue probing the matter were variously warned off, stonewalled, or reassigned.
It seems worth considering how much the US's dependence on oil from the Arabian Peninsula figures in any failures to probe just as the US was very quick to let members of the Saudi royal family in the United States at the time of the attacks leave the country without being interrogated, despite severe restrictions on flights.
It also is very careful not to use incendiary wording like "terrorist" when it involves the Saudis, including those in the Pensacola case.
President Donald Trump declined to say whether the shooting was related to terrorism, and he seemed more concerned with dissassociating the Saudi government from the shooter. He tweeted "The King said that the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter, and that this person in no way shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people who love the American people."
However, Rep. Matt Gaetz, (R-FL), an outspoken Trump loyalist who represents Pensacola, did not hesitate to call the act terrorism, and to demand that the Saudis in no way interfere with the investigation of the mass shooting.
Critics have noted that the forbearance granted Saudi Arabia is exceptional certainly not a courtesy that would have been extended had suspects been from, say, Iran.
We republish our original work here on the 9-11 attacks because we believe the full story and context still warrant scrutiny. More so because of the Pensacola shootings. It's a continuing tale and a continuing mystery.
Hijackers
WhoWhatWhy has found evidence linking the Saudi royal family to Saudis in South Florida who reportedly had direct contact with the 9/11 hijackers before fleeing the United States just prior to the attacks. Our report connects some of the dots first laid out by investigative author Anthony Summers and Florida-based journalist Dan Christensen in articles jointly published in the Miami Herald and on the nonprofit news site BrowardBulldog.org.
In early September of this year, Summers and Christensen reported that a secret FBI probe, never shared with Congressional investigators or the presidential 9/11 commission, had uncovered information indicating the possibility of support for the hijackers from previously unknown confederates in the United States during 2001.
Now WhoWhatWhy reveals that those alleged confederates were closely tied to influential members of the Saudi ruling elite.
The House
As reported in the Herald, phone records documented communication, dating back more than a year, that connected a Saudi family then living in a house near Sarasota, Florida, with the alleged plot leader, Mohammed Atta, and his hijack pilotsas well as to eleven of the other hijackers. In addition, records from the guard house at the gated community tied Atta's vehicle and his accomplice Ziad Jarrah to actual visits to the house. Although requiring further investigation, this information suggests that the house may have functioned as an operational base for the hijackers.
According to interviews and records examined by The Herald, Anoud and Abdulaziz al-Hijji and their young twins abruptly departed their home in Sarasota only days before September 11, 2001 and traveled to Arlington, Virginia, where they stayed briefly at another house owned by Anoud's father, Esam Ghazzawi.
Then, still well before 9/11, the entire group, now including the father, flew to London and on to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Sarasota house was sold in 2003, as was a penthouse apartment in another DC, suburb, Rosslyn, Virginia. The Ghazzawis do not seem to have set foot again in the United States.
New Revelations
Building on these revelations, WhoWhatWhy has found documents laying out the Ghazzawis' royal connections through a nest of Saudi corporations that share the name EIRAD. Esam Ghazzawi is director of EIRAD Management Company, the UK division of EIRAD Trading and Contracting Co. Ltd., which among other things holds the Saudi franchise for many multinational brands, including UPS. Esam's brother Mamdouh, whose name shows up on public records associated with family properties in the U.S., is the Executive Managing Director of the parent firm, EIRAD Holding Co. Ltd. EIRAD has connections to the US government via contracts. In 2008, records show, the State Department paid EIRAD $11,733 for rental of facilities, presumably in Saudi Arabia.
There is no indication that the company itself, or any of its officers or employees, have any connection to the 9/11 incident, or knowledge of anything regarding Mr. Ghazzawi's activities in the United States. Calls for comment to the company's main switchboard went unanswered during normal business hours; its website was not functioning properly and Saudi trade officials in the United States had not furnished alternative contact information at publication time.
But the now-revealed link between the Ghazzawis and the highest ranks of the Saudi establishment reopens questions about the White House's controversial approval for multiple charter flights allowing Saudi nationals to depart the U.S., beginning about 48 hours after the attacks, without the passengers being interviewed by law enforcementdespite the identification of the majority of the hijackers as Saudis.
In addition, the new revelations draw further attention to a web of relationships that include the long and close business, personal and political ties between the Bush family and the Saudi royal family.
Saudi money is woven throughout business ventures connected to the Bushes. Saudi funds even helped bail out George W. Bush's failing oil company early in his life. Jim Bath, a close friend of Bush in the Texas Air National Guard, went on to start a business in conjunction with two sons of powerful Saudi familiesKhalid bin Mahfouz, whose family provides banking services to the Saudi royals, and Salem bin Laden, heir to the bin Laden family's global construction empire and a half brother to Osama bin Laden. (For a detailed probe of the Bush family's dealings with the Saudis, including substantial previously unreported material, see my book, Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America's Invisible Government and the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years.)
Details of The Herald's Revelations
The Ghazzawi presence in the Sunshine State predated 9/11 by at least six years. In 1995 a young Saudi woman named Anoud Ghazzawi living in South Florida married a fellow Saudi native, Abdulaziz al-Hijji (English spellings of his first name and surname vary, as is typical of Arabic names.) Anoud's father, Esam, and his American-born wife Deborah bought the couple a stylish, three-bedroom house in a gated community in Sarasota. The house remained in the elder Ghazzawis' names while the young couple lived there and began a family.
Six years later, less than two weeks before the 9/11 attacks, Anoud, Abdulaziz and their children left their home on or about August 30, 2001 in great haste, taking off in a white van. This was about the same time that the hijackers were purchasing their tickets for the targeted flights.
The family apparently left with no advance planning, leaving behind almost all their possessions, abandoning three recently registered vehicles, including a brand-new Chrysler PT Cruiser, in the garage and driveway. As the Herald article explained:
"there was mail on the table, dirty diapers in one of the bathrooms … all the toiletries still in place … all their clothes hanging in the closet … opulent furniture, equal or greater in value than the house … the pool running, with toys in it….The beds were made … fruit on the counter … the refrigerator full of food. … It was like they went grocery shopping. Like they went out to a movie … [But] the safe was open in the master bedroom, with nothing in it, not a paper clip. … A computer was still there. A computer plug in another room, and the line still there. Looked like they'd taken [another] computer and left the cord."
After public disclosure of Saudi involvement in the 9/11 attacks, people in the gated community took note of the rushed departure and disappearance of the Ghazzawi-al-Hijjis. After all, the attackers were not just overwhelmingly of Saudi nationality, but three out of four of the future hijackers had lived and trained to fly in Venice, Florida, just 10 miles away from the house.
The complex's security officer alerted the FBI, which began an investigation into the house at 4224 Escondito Circle. (In addition, a suspicious neighbor alerted the FBI by email on the day of the attacks.)
The Justice Department declined to give the Herald a statement, but, according to an unnamed senior counterterrorism officer who was one of two people who got into the house first and served as a key source for the paper, the investigation bore stunning fruit.
Ziad Jarrah
Phone records showed communication, dating back more than a year, that connected those in the house with the alleged plot leader, Mohammed Atta and his accomplices, including eleven of the other hijackers. Other records, kept by guards at the gated community, documented numerous visits to the house by a vehicle known to have been used by Atta, and indicated the physical presence in the car of Atta's purported accomplice Ziad Jarrah. It appeared as if the Ghazzawi house was some kind of nerve center for the entire operation.
According to the senior counterterrorism officer, both Esam Ghazzawi and his son-in-law al-Hijji had been on a watch list at the FBI predating 9/11. An unnamed U.S. agency tracking terror funds had also taken an interest in them. "464 was Ghazzawi's number," the officer said. "I don't remember the other man's number."
Secrecy Reveals Little Official Curiosityor Coverup?
These stunning revelationssaid to be based on the work of the swarm of FBI agents who descended on the gated community in the fall of 2001would surely have generated headlines worldwide if they had become known after 9/11. But the FBI, for reasons unknown, failed to provide the information to Congressional 9/11 investigators or to the presidential 9/11 commission, and thus it has remained a secret for the past decade.
In response to the Herald article, the FBI has issued a statement saying that the occupants of the house had been tracked down and interrogated, and were found to have no connections to the hijackers. It is not clear when these interrogations are supposed to have taken place, or whether they were conducted by the FBI or by Saudi intelligence. But given the FBI's poor track record for candor in the matter, the statement is being viewed with some skepticism.
Inside the House
Adding to these doubts is an ineffective effort by the Bureau to woo the house owners back to Florida. According to Scott McKay, a lawyer for homeowners' association of the gated community, known as Prestancia, the FBI attempted to convince the Ghazzawis they needed to come back in person to sign documents related to unpaid back dues to the association. This attempt proved unsuccessful when the Ghazzawis simply arranged to sign the documents elsewhere. These facts, reported by The Herald, raise questions about the U.S. government's determination to interview the couple: Esam Ghazzawi's signature was notarized in Lebanonby a U.S. official no lessthe vice consul at the US embassy in Beirut. His wife's signature was also notarizedelsewhere in the United States, in Riverside County, California.
The emergence of this information chagrined Bob Graham, the former Florida U.S. Senator. Graham was Senate Intelligence Committee chair (and a 2004 candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination) and served as co-chair of the congressional joint inquiry into 9/11. "At the beginning of the investigation," he told The Herald, "each of the intelligence agencies, including the FBI, was asked to provide all information that agency possessed in relation to 9/11." Graham noted that the Bureau also failed to turn over information connecting the hijackers to other Saudis living in California, which his own investigators later discovered on their own.
Just as strange, when Graham's congressional investigators turned over a large body of information on the hijackers they had assembled to the presidential 9/11 Commission, it seemed uninterested. "They did very little with it," Graham said, "and their reference to Saudi Arabia is almost cryptic sometimes. … I never got a good answer as to why they did not pursue that."
About the new discovery in Sarasota, Graham said it "opens the door to a new chapter of investigation as to the depth of the Saudi role in 9/11."
All Eyes on Prince Sultan
Of special interest is the Ghazzawis' boss, the chairman of Eirad Holding Co. Ltd., Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He is a prominent member of the ruling Saudi royal family. He is a great-grandson of King Abdulaziz (commonly referred to as Ibn Saud), founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and grandson of the current king.
His uncle is another Sultan Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. A leading advocate of teaching Saudis to fly, Prince Sultan is the founder and Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Aviation Club, and Chairman of the King Khaled International Airport (KKIA) Supervisory Committee. Since 2000, he has also headed Saudi Arabia's tourism commission, placing him among a handful of the King's grandsons to hold ministerial rank. One of his missions as head of the tourism commission is to repair the damage to Saudi Arabia's image caused by the 9/11 attacks.
Prince Sultan bin Salman
In a document released by Wikileaks, the U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, James B. Smith, characterizes Prince Sultan this way: "With a powerful father who is the Governor of Riyadh and a strong candidate to be the next crown-prince, Sultan is well positioned to move up the Saudi government ranks… Sultan has visited almost every state [in the U.S.]. He joked with the Ambassador that perhaps the only states he has not yet visited are the Dakotas.' " (He is extra well connected, with one brother serving as the deputy oil minister)
Prince Sultan is closely allied with Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, the former longtime ambassador to the United States, who is often called "Bandar Bush" for his friendly relationship with the Bush family. Sultan and Bandar have worked together for years to promote Saudi interest in aviation.
The Bushes and the Royals
The Bush family have long been regarded as friendly with the prince's family and their associates. Prince Sultan's NASA mission is perceived as having been orchestrated by George HW Bush as a favor to the Saudis. Associates of the Bush family have many connections with the Prince's family. Prince Sultan's father's legal counsel is William Jeffress Jr, of Houston-based Baker Botts LLP, where James A. Baker III, longstanding advisor to the Bush family, including both Presidents Bush, is a senior partner. At the time of the 9/11 attacks, Baker held the post of Senior Counselor for the Carlyle Group, a global asset management firm which is heavily invested in military contracting stocks; among Carlyle's large investors were the bin Ladens. (In a curious coincidence, Baker watched the live television coverage of the attacks from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, where he and representatives of Osama bin Ladens extended family were attending the Carlyle Group's annual conference. In another odd coincidence, President George W. Bush himself was in Sarasota, reading to schoolchildren, at the very time the Sarasota-area-based terrorists were hijacking the planes. Indeed, he was a short distance from the home the Ghazzawis had recently abandoned.)
President Bush's actions in the aftermath of the World Trade Center and Pentagon assaults with regard to the Saudi royal family have long been known but have yet to be fully explored. Shortly after the attacks, President Bush permitted an exception to the ban on air traffic so that planes could take prominent Saudis out of the country. One of those leaving on the flights was the late Prince Ahmed bin Salman, brother of Prince Sultan.
In a 2004 letter to the New York Times, Prince Sultan responded to allegations surrounding those flights, and pointed to a conclusion in the 9/11 commission report: "Our own independent review of the Saudi nationals involved confirms that no one with known links to terrorism departed on these flights." (Another Saudi who left the US after 9/11 was the architect Abdel Wahed El-Wakil, who had a base in Miami and serves as an advisor to Prince Sultan.)
Allegations of Saudi Royal Complicity
Prince Ahmed with his horse
Sultan's brother Prince Ahmed was the most westernized of the Saudi set. He raised racehorses in Kentucky and was the owner of the 2001 Kentucky Derby winner, with the perhaps unfortunate name "War Emblem." Allegations concerning Prince Ahmed emerged in the 2003 book, Why America Slept, by the bestselling author Gerald Posner. Posner says that intelligence sources told him how in March, 2002, under interrogation (but before he was waterboarded 83 times in August), Al Qaeda's purported chief of operations, Abu Zubaydah, relaxed and began cooperating. Tricked into thinking he was in Saudi custody, Zubaydah asked his interrogators to call a senior member of the Saudi Royal family, who he said was his contact. He provided, from memory, the man's private home and cell phones. This contact, according to Posner, was Prince Ahmed.
Zubaydah is alleged to have said that Osama bin Laden had cut a deal with a top Pakistani military official, Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, who was close to Islamist elements in Pakistani intelligence. According to this account, the Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Turki, signed off on this, and agreed to provide aid to the Taliban in Afghanistan and not to go after Al Qaeda so long as the terrorist group kept its gun sights trained away from the Saudi royals.
In this version of events, Zubaydah is said to have also implicated Prince Sultan, along with another cousin, Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Saud al-Kabir, as Al Qaeda backers, and to have claimed that the Pakistani Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir and Saudi Prince Ahmed knew in advance about the 9/11 attacks.
Though the interrogators were skeptical of these claims, Zubaydah often proved credible. Information he provided led to the capture of a senior al-Qaeda operative in Southeast Asia. Zubaydah would only talk when he thought he was in Saudi hands. When U.S. personnel, no longer posing as Saudis, confronted him, Zubaydah said he had made up his earlier statements. But investigators found no basis for believing the information to be falseand even found material that corroborated his claimed ties to high level Saudis. Not surprisingly, the Saudi and Pakistani governments insisted his claims were false in all respects.
One of the key figures named by Zubaydah, Prince Turki, had been removed from his position as Saudi intelligence chief on September 1, 2001, ten days before the attacks. Thus, he was apparently not in that post on the critical day. Yet, his removal was a temporary absence from the highest levels of Saudi leadership, and not necessarily an indication that he had fallen into serious disfavor. The next year, he was named Saudi ambassador to Great Britain, just as a shift in focus from Al Qaeda to Iraq was being pitched to the British. If Zubaydah's claims are at all credible, the removal of Turki from an official position shortly before the attacks surely warrants additional analysis as does the Ghazzawis' hasty flight from the U.S. right in the same time frame.
According to the book The Eleventh Day, by Summers and his co-author Robbyn Swan, Zubaydah is not alone in asserting a Saudi-Al Qaeda deal:
In sworn statements after 9/11, former Taliban intelligence chief Mohammed Khaksar said that in 1998 Prince Turki, chief of Saudi Arabia's General Intelligence Department (G.I.D.), sealed a deal under which bin Laden agreed not to attack Saudi targets. In return, Saudi Arabia would provide funds and material assistance to the Taliban, not demand bin Laden's extradition, and not bring pressure to close down al-Qaeda training camps. Saudi businesses, meanwhile, would ensure that money also flowed directly to bin Laden.

Prince Ahmed and another royal, Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, were among the fifteen Saudis spirited out of the US, with President Bush's approval, on September 16, 2001, via Lexington, Kentuckyi.e., out of Prince Ahmed's U.S. backyard. Prince Sultan bin Fahd is the nephew of Prince Ahmed and Prince Sultan, and the son of Prince Fahd bin Salman (see below) who died unexpectedly shortly before the 9/11 attacks.
"It appears as if they didn't want to be around to be questioned as to what role they had played and the best way to avoid that was to get out of the country," former Senator Bob Graham told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
As author Craig Unger notes in his book, House of Bush, House of Saud, FBI agents were stationed at all points of departure for the group of Saudis who massed in Lexington before departing the country, yet there's no evidence they were asked any questions at all.
Ironically, Posner, who is regularly cited by the corporate media for his views on the JFK assassination (he is a leading defender of the conclusion that Oswald was the lone gunman), is largely ignored for his work on the Saudi-9/11 connection, where he does posit high-level involvement. Posner is a highly controversial and at times perplexing figure, but he insists he has solid intelligence sources, and the thrust of his claims have meshed with those of The New York Times intelligence reporter and best-selling author James Risen. As Risen wrote in his book State of War,
Ever since the September 11 attacks, the trail back from al Qaeda to Saudi Arabia has been an intriguing path, but one that very few American investigators have been willing to follow. . . . oth before and after 9/11, President Bush and his administration have displayed a remarkable lack of interest in aggressively examining the connections between Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda, and the Saudi power elite. Even as the Bush administration spent enormous time and energy trying in vain to prove connections between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden in order to help justify the war in Iraq, the administration was ignoring far more conclusive ties with Saudi Arabia. Those links are much stronger and far more troubling than has ever been previously disclosed, and until they are thoroughly investigated, the roots of Al Qaeda's power, and the full story of 9/11, will never be known."
Prince Fahd bin Salman died six weeks before 9/11 attacks
Several of those alleged to have had knowledge of this putative scheme and its enormous implications met with untimely ends shortly after Zubaydah's interrogation. In June, 2002, three months after Zubaydah's capture, the man he identified as his controller, Prince Ahmed, died of what officials said was a heart attack while asleep. Another brother of Ahmed's and Sultan's, Prince Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, died of a heart attack on July 25, 2001, about six weeks before the 9/11 attacks. The death of Fahd, who preceded his brother as head of EIRAD, is described in a Riyadh-datelined article by Middle East Newsfile, as follows:
Prince Fahd died suddenly. Prince Fahd did not show any symptoms of any ailment. He had, however, made an appointment with a dentist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh to check a toothache.
A cousin, Prince Sultan bin Faisal bin Turki al-Saud, died when his car crashed en route to Salman's funeral. Zubaydah had supposedly implicated Prince Sultan bin Faisal, and another royal, Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Saud al-Kabir. as Al-Qaeda supporters. All these men were in their forties. Still another key figure in Zubaydah's monstrous scenario met an untimely death. On February 20, 2003, Mushaf Ali Mir, the Pakistani air force chief, his wife and fifteen others, were killed in a plane crash.
Not a hint of the above information appeared in the released portion of the presidential 9/11 commission report. It is not known whether any of it was in the 28 pages of material about Saudi connections that the Bush Administration censored on national security grounds.
[B]A Long-Standing Relationship
The Ghazzawis' relationship with the United States seems to date back to the 1950's, when U.S. immigration records show that Abbas Ghazzawi visited New York. Abbas Ghazzawi was a prominent Saudi attorney. Esam, whose full name is Esam Abbas Ghazzawi, appears to be his son. (WhoWhatWhy was unable to reach Ghazzawi for comment on any of the matters in this article.)
Abbas Ghazzawi, arriving on a first class ticket on a connecting flight that originated in Saudi Arabia, was traveling in an elite entourage. One companion, Rasem al-Khalidi, was a high-ranking Saudi monetary official. Another, Faisal al-Hegelan, would years later serve in the all-important position of Saudi ambassador to Washington. He held that post during 1979-1983, a period that partly coincided with the Reagan-Bush Administration. His replacement was Prince Bandar, the Bush family friend jokingly called "Bandar Bush."
Saudi Air Force AWACS
The focus of Saudi royals in their dealings with the United States can be seen in the conduct of al-Hegelan. As ambassador, al-Hegelan was principally concerned with propping up the Saudi regime. He had seventeen military attachés assigned fulltime to lobby for the sale of the advanced command-and-control aircraft known as AWACS to the Saudi air force. (see P. 17 of the book Arab Reach, by Hoag Levins.) Overcoming heavy pressure on Washington from the Israelis, the Saudis succeeded in getting Congress to approve the AWACS sale. Al-Hegelan also led a lobbying campaign against Secretary of State Alexander Haig's public support of Israel's invasion of Lebanon. President Reagan, with strong input from his vice president, George H.W. Bush, removed Haig and replaced him with George Schultz, who sided with the Saudis; Schultz had been president of Bechtel, one of the largest construction contractors in Saudi Arabia, whose projects included the original Trans-Arabian Pipeline.
We find the Ghazzawi clan again in the United States in 1970, when the young Esam married the American Deborah G. Browning. The marriage didn't last longin July, 1971 they obtained a divorce in Orange County, California.
The first sign of the Ghazzawi clan on the east coast of the United States was in 1992, when Esam bought a penthouse apartment in the D.C. suburb of Rosslyn, Virginia. In various accounts, Esam is described as a banker or financier, who also works as an interior designer. He accrued additional property in Arlington, Virginia and Longboat Key, Florida, and his name turns up in connection with a fancy office building in the K Street lobbying corridor.
In this period, Esam's name surfaced when investigators probing the monumentally corrupt Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) sought to recover assets from Saudi Prince Fahd bin Salmanbrother of Prince Sultan bin Salman. The prince argued that his assets were being held in another account under Esam Ghazzawi's name. Only low-level BCCI officials went to jail in the sprawling scandal, which involved banks and governments all over the world. Prince Fahd bin Salman is one of the relatives who died unexpectedly in the year of the 9/11 attacks. (The Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations were repeatedly accused by investigators into the BCCI mess of obstructing their inquiries; it is worth noting that the Treasury Department official responsible for scrutinizing BCCI's affairs in the Reagan-Bush administration was assistant secretary for enforcement John M. Walker Jr.who happened to be George H.W. Bush's cousin.)
In 1995, Ghazzawi's daughter Anoud, living in South Florida, married Abdulaziz al-Hiijii, who was a university student in the area. Esam and Deborah Ghazzawi, apparently reunited sometime after their 1971 divorce, purchased the Sarasota home into which the couple moved. Abdulaziz appears to have received a B.S. and Masters of Information Systems from the University of South Florida. His Master's should be noted in the context of only one of two items removed from the Sarasota house before the couple fleda computer.
Today, the family seems comfortably ensconced back in Saudi Arabia. In August, 2003, Abdulaziz al-Hijji became a career counselor at the government oil companySaudi Aramcoa position he retains to this day. He served on the committee holding a symposium about electronic services in the eastern (oil-producing) province of Saudi Arabia, held in Khobar in 2008.
We found the American-born Deborah Ghazzawi, posting online just three years ago for help on finding her username/password for a Saudi Blackberry sim card.

The seeming reluctance of the US government to pursue hints of possible Saudi complicity in the 9/11 attacks, wherever they might lead, is hardly an isolated failure. Richard Clarke, the chief counterterrorism official in both the Clinton and Bush administrations, has recently stated his view that the CIA made an unsuccessful attempt to recruit two of the hijackers as double agents before the 9/11 attacks, then scurried to cover up this bungled effort. Clarke thinks evidence points to the spy agency itself allowing the hijackers into the U.S. as part of this scheme. If Clarke is correct, this would be another case of interested parties in the government keeping the truth bottled up for their own purposes.
President Bush with Saudi King Abdullah
Even more disturbing, the final section of the Congressional inquiry's report, on "sources of foreign support for some of the Sept. 11 hijackers," was totally redacted. It is still unavailable to the public on the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary of the attacks. Both Graham and his GOP counterpart, Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, determined that national security would not be harmed by releasing those pages. Yet they were withheldon the orders of George W. Bush.
Graham told the reporters he thinks suppression of the material provided "protection of the Saudis from embarrassment, protection of the administration from political embarrassment … some of the unknowns, some of the secrets of 9/11."
Tellingly, the venerable British insurance company Lloyd's of London actively investigated Saudi complicity in 9/11. As reported by the U.K. paper The Independent, a Lloyd's unit has launched what is described as "a landmark legal case" against Saudi Arabia, claiming that the kingdom is indirectly responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Lloyd's asserts that Saudi banks and charities acting as surrogates for the royal family gave the terrorist group the sustenance it needed to carry out the 2001 assault. (Lloyd's is seeking to recover sums it paid to firms and individuals affected by the event.) Reports The Independent:
The legal claim states: "Absent the sponsorship of al-Qa'ida's material sponsors and supporters, including the defendants named therein, al-Qa'ida would not have possessed the capacity to conceive, plan and execute the 11 September attacks. The success of al-Qa'ida's agenda, including the 11 September attacks themselves, has been made possible by the lavish sponsorship al-Qa'ida has received from its material sponsors and supporters over more than a decade leading up to 11 September 2001."
Bizarrely, several days ago, Lloyd's quietly withdrew its suit, declining to explain why. But the move was conducted in such a way to suggest a possible settlement, thereby raising still more questions for investigation.
President Obama with Saudi King Abdullah
Meanwhile, in the United States, a growing chorus of voicessome very establishment voicesare demanding accountability and candor. Graham and Clarke have now been joined by retired CIA officer Bob Baer, by several former FBI agents and by Tom Kean, chairman of presidential 9/11 commission, all of whom express concern that the full story has not been permitted to emerge.
"No evidence," But None Sought
The 9/11 Commission report "found no evidence that the Saudi government as an institution or senior Saudi officials" financed Al Qaeda. But this carefully worded statement does not foreclose the possibility that members of the Saudi royal family personally provided financing, or that senior officials funded companies or outsiders that in turn provided financing.
Many questions remain to be answered. For example, why did the Ghazzawi clan flee in such a hasty manner, pausing only to empty their safe but leaving food on the kitchen counter and their pool pump running? Was it because they had received some unexpected news, news so urgent and alarming that normal preparations for an orderly departure gave way to what appears to be a panicky exit?
If this question seems inconsequential, think about what kind of news, in the days just before 9/11, could have prompted such intemperate flight from the United States by a well-connected clan of Saudis? The possible answers to this question could prove world-changing. The most important Mideast nation so far untouched by the dislocations of the Arab Spring is Saudi Arabia, the single largest supplier of petroleum to the western world. If major players in that country's ruling family are shown to have had a hand in the 9/11 attacks, it would be the equivalent of a geopolitical tsunamiupsetting powerful elites around the world. Is it any wonder that efforts have been made to prevent a no-holds-barred investigation of this connection? And isn't it time, ten years later, to end this coverup in the name of the common good?
Former Senator Graham, for one, is increasingly adamant. As he told the St. Petersburg Times: "These 19 people did not play out this plot as lone wolves. The chances that 19 people, most of whom had never been in the U.S., who did not speak English, and most of whom did not know each other, could have completed training, practiced and executed such a complicated plot defies common sense."

Inside the Organized Crime Syndicate known as the CIA: an Interview with Douglas Valentine
by Heidi Boghosian and Michael Steven Smith November 21, 2019 11 Comments
[Douglas Valentine is an investigator and author with a rare and tenacious approach toward research. His writing results in uniquely incisive and revealing books on the dark side of U.S. intelligence activities and the National Security State. His latest book, The CIA as Organized Crime: How Illegal Operations Corrupt America and the World, draws parallels between CIA operations in Vietnamas exposed in his well-known 1990 book, The Phoenix Program: America's Use of Terror in Vietnamand recent/current operations in Afghanistan, El Salvador, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and elsewhere. In the following interview, Valentine reflects on a variety of issues including the Phoenix Program, plausible deniability, paramilitary wars, drug trafficking, sabotage, blackmail, propaganda, Operation GLADIO, class interests of the CIA establishment, Trump, the Mueller Report and the Bidens. Editors]
Heidi Boghosian: In 1947, Congress passed the National Security Act, which led to the formation of the National Security Council and, under its direction, the CIA. Its original mandate was to collect and analyze strategic information for use in war. Though shrouded in secrecy, many CIA activities such as covert military and cybersecurity operations have drawn considerable public scrutiny and criticism. In 1948, the Security Council approved a secret directive NSC 10.2, authorizing the CIA to carry out an array of covert operations. This essentially allowed the CIA to become a paramilitary organization.
George F. Kennan was an American diplomat and historian. He was best known as an advocate of a post-war policy of containment of Soviet expansion during the Cold War. Curiously, he opposed the building of the hydrogen bomb and the rearmament of Germany. He lectured widely and wrote advocating for "containment" of the USSR. He was concomitantly one of a group of foreign policy elders known as "The Wise Men." [Credit: Los Angeles Daily News]
Before he died, George F. Kennan, the diplomat and Cold War strategist who sponsored the directive, said that, "in light of latter history, it was the greatest mistake I ever made." Since NSC 10.2 authorized violation of international law, it also established an official policy of lying to cover up the law breaking.
We speak today with Douglas Valentine, author of The CIA as Organized Crime: How Illegal Operations Corrupt America and the World. Mr. Valentine's rare access to CIA officials has resulted in portions of his research materials being archived at the National Security Archive, Texas Tech University's Vietnam Center and John Jay College. He has written three books on CIA operations, including the Phoenix Program:America's Use of Terror in Vietnam, which documented the CIA's elaborate system of population surveillance, control, entrapment, imprisonment, torture, and assassination in Vietnam. His new book describes how many of these practices remain operational today. Doug Valentine, welcome to Law and Disorder.
Douglas Valentine: Thank you very much for having me.
Heidi Boghosian: Doug, how did you come to get such unparalleled access to top level CIA agents, including director Bill Colby?
Douglas Valentine: Well, I'm not really sure of the answer. I was a nobody. I hadn't gone to the Columbia Journalism School. In fact, I was a college dropout. I had written a book about my father and his experiences in World War II and I wanted to write a book about the Vietnam war. And so, I sent this book that I wrote about my father called the Hotel Tacloban: The Explosive True Story of One American's Journey to Hell in a Japanese POW Camp to Colby. And he read it! And based on him reading this book I wrote about my father, he agreed to do an interview with me about the CIA's Phoenix program.
Douglas Valentine
But I really just stumbled into it. And I think that the reasons that Colby talked to me and then introduced me to a lot of other CIA officers are complex, and I think a lot of it has to do with the psychology of the country at the time. That was in 1984, and what was known as the generation gap. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I just had the audacity to approach Colby and ask him to help me write a book about the Phoenix program, which nobody else had done at that time.
Michael Steven Smith: Doug, the book that you wrote, the Phoenix Program: America's Use of Terror in Vietnam, is considered by many the definitive study of the CIA's secretive counterinsurgency program during the war in Vietnam. One CIA officer named Lucien Conein called it "the greatest blackmail scheme ever invented." What do you think he meant by that?
Douglas Valentine: Well, it meant that the Phoenix program was targeted against civilians, the civilians who managed the insurgency in South Vietnam, not soldiers, not even guerrillas or terrorists. But these were civilians who were working undercover in political positions, generally speaking. We managed the insurgency in South Vietnam and their names could be put on blacklists. And once their name was on a listonce somebody had been informed about them, and once they were a member of a list a that was called the Vietcong infrastructure, the insurgencythe CIA and its forces could go out and kidnap them, put them in interrogation centers, kill them along with their families, and do anything they wanted to try and suppress them. And the problem was that lots of innocent civilians got their names put on these blacklists. In fact, one of the ways that the CIA and its forces, the South Vietnamese Special Police and its mercenary army, one of the ways that they got people to inform on the members of the Vietcong insurgency was by threatening to put their names on blacklists. So therefore, it became a blackmail scheme.
So, if you were just an average citizen and you did not support the government of South Vietnam, you could find your name on a blacklist and your whole family could be wiped out. So, it became a way of not just attacking the members of this Vietcong infrastructure, but a way of population control, a way of terrorizing everybody in South Vietnam and bringing them all into line following government policies. And the minute you stepped out of line, you could find your name on a blacklist.
Michael Steven Smith: A common theme is the CIA's ability to deceive and propagandize the American public through its impenetrable government-sanctioned shield of official secrecy and plausible deniability. Can you give us some examples of this please, Doug?
Douglas Valentine: Plausible deniability? Well, first of all, one of the CIA officers that William Colby referred me to directly was a man named Tom Donahue, a veteran CIA officer. He had run the CIA's covert action branch in South Vietnam from 1964 to 1966 and later went on to join what was called the Vietnam Task Force. He was a very senior officer. Colby arranged for me to have an interview with him, and in that interview, Donahue told me that the CIA never launched a covert action program unless it met two criteria. The first was that it had to have some intelligence potential; it had to have some value to the CIA. And the second thingit had to be deniable. The CIA does not launch any kind of program at all unless it's deniable. And it does this in a thousand different ways. [T]he most common way of the CIA launching a covert action program that is deniable is by attributing it to another agency.
I spent hours talking to Donahue about all the different ways that they do it. But the most common way of the CIA launching a covert action program that is deniable is by attributing it to another agency; they say, the State Department is doing this; or they say the military is doing this; or they say a nongovernmental organization like Amnesty International is doing this; or they say another country is doing it. For example, they might say that the secret services of the government of Ukraine are conducting a particular operation when, actually, it's the CIA that's conducting the operation and controlling the Ukraine's security forces and paying their salaries and directing them where to go. [T]he most important things that are happening and shaping our democracy are the CIA's covert actions, which are all deniable and never reported on.
So, there's just a million different ways that the CIA creates multiple deniability for it. And of course, every step of the way they have the help of the American media, which is in a partnership with the CIA, the major newspapers and TV organizations, every report about the CIA. And you know, we're supposed to live in a democracy, and the mediaespecially investigative reportersare supposed to be out there looking out for our interests and telling us what's really happening. But of course, they don't do that. And what's really happening, the most important things that are happening and shaping our democracy are the CIA's covert actions, which are all deniable and never reported on. So, mere civilians in the United States really never know what's going on.
Heidi Boghosian: Doug, in your book, The CIA as Organized Crime: How Illegal Operations Corrupt America and the World, you lay out some of the most egregious acts of the agency. What do you think are one or two of the worst?
Douglas Valentine: Oh, you know, that's so hard to say, but it's certainly conducting paramilitary wars in foreign countries. For example, in Laos, the CIA organized an entire army of mountain tribes. They were mistakenly called the Meo by the Americans [pronounced Mayo] (which was equivalent to saying the N-word), when they were actually the Hmong [pronounced Mung].
Laos was supposed to be a country that was neutral, but the CIA organized an entire secret army of just this tribe of Hmong natives. Most of the soldiers were children, young boys, 14, 15, 16 years old. And they sent thousands and thousands of these young boys to their deaths trying to stop the Vietcong from coming down the Ho Chi Minh Trail through Laos. They just used this mountain tribe as expendable cannon fodder. And they do this sort of thing all over the world all the time. They've done it in Iraq, they've done it in Afghanistan, they do it in numerous countries throughout Africa, where they just organize militias and secret armies.
And nobody ever reports how tens of thousands of these people [are sent] to their deaths. There's never a price to pay for it. So, for meof all of the many, many things they do, including torture as blackmail, even infiltrating various agenciesyou have the U.S. government using them for its own purposes, conducting secret wars and sacrificing young foreign citizens. That really strikes me as the worst.
Heidi Boghosian: How does the CIA dominate branches of the U.S. government, like the Drug Enforcement Administration and the State Department?
Douglas Valentine: Under what's called national securitythat little security law, you knowthere is a clause that was included in the National Security Directive of December 19, 1947, which gives the CIA the rightfor the president to direct the CIA to do whatever is necessary in the interests of national security. Therefore, they can infiltrate any agency of the government and assign office positions in that agencyfor example, the Drug Enforcement Administrationto CIA officers so that CIA officers could make sure that the foreign operations that the DEA is conducting, or the foreign operations that U.S. Customs or even the FBI, certainly the military, are conducting, are not infiltrated by foreign agentsor in case of the DEAthat actual drug traffickers that are working for the CIA aren't arrested, and allows the CIA to control the drug business around the world, which is really important for the United States, and has been since before the CIA was created, when the United States was supporting the nationalist Chinese in China in the 1930s, the way the nationalist Chinese supported themselves was through opium revenues.
President Harry S. Truman signs the National Security Act of 1947, which created the Central Intelligence Agency.
Truman later wrote: "I never would have agreed to the formulation of the Central Intelligence Agency back in forty-seven, if I had known it would become the American Gestapo." [Credit: Wikimedia.com]
And so, the United States government allowed Chiang Kai-shek and his Kuomintang government to traffic narcotics so they could support themselves. And you know, the United States government does that with various governments around the world even today, such as in Afghanistan, where the people who support the United States and its operations against the Taliban are often drug trafficking warlordswho again, in exchange for lucrative contracts, contracting contracts, the right to build airports or construction contracts, ante up young soldiers and, in return, you know, are sent to their deaths by the scores, by the hundreds, by the thousands. In exchange, these warlords are allowed to traffic narcotics. That's basically how the CIA does business around the world. And it's not just through the DEA, but through nearly every United States agency that operates overseas. They all are subservient to the CIAthe CIA has what's called cognizance over their operations and, basically, complete control.
Michael Steven Smith: Doug, what influence has the CIA's activities had on social and political movements abroad and in the United States? Basically, the essence of [the CIA's] mandate is tothrough sabotage and propagandacontrol political and social movements in foreign countries…It's been standard practice and…the driving principle since after World War II.
Douglas Valentine: Sure. This is one of the primary covert operations of the CIA. Basically, the essence of its mandate is tothrough sabotage and propagandacontrol political and social movements in foreign countries. And they do this set up for a variety of ways. It's been standard practice and sort of the driving principle since after World War II.
If I can just give a little background. After World War II, the communists had really formed the underground forces of resistance against the Nazis in France and Italy and in a couple of other European nations. And so immediately after World War II, communist parties became politically influentialand I'll just focus on France and Italyand they, all of a sudden, were in control of the governments. But the CIA could not fight wars against France and Italy. So, they developed a program called "courting the compatible left." In order to get France and Italy away from communism, they supported the Social Democrats, people who weren't hardcore communists, but people who were willing to work with capitalism, accept American aid and work with the Americans. And so, the CIA resorted to very subtle ways of luring hardcore communists away from communism into its social democratic movement. And this began to bloom and blossom all across the world as a standard operating procedure. When the communists were intractable, then they would do such things as hire Corsican gangsters, which they did in Marseille right after World War II to break up communist strikes.
Sicilian Mafia leaders [Credit: pininterest.ca]
But, generally speaking, they tried to do this through subtle forms of propaganda, blackmail, bribery, sabotage and methods like that. There's a pretty good book about that…[The Cultural Cold War: The CIA and the World of Arts and Letters by Frances Stonor Saunders]…It's about how the CIA waged cultural war in the 1950s and 1960s that a lot of Americans played, people like Gloria Steinem and other intellectuals in the United States, who actually helped the CIA in this effort to lure people out of the Communist Party into a social democratic movement.

[TD] Gloria Steinem was an iconic leader of the American feminist movement and co-founded Ms. Magazine. In March 1967, Ramparts magazine broke one of the first major exposes in the CIA's history. From the early 1950s until 1967, the international program of the National Student Association and some of its domestic activities were secretly underwritten by clandestine funding from the Central Intelligence Agency.
During the years 1958-67, Steinem accepted a paid position with the CIA when she went undercover with the "Independent Research Service" as she infiltrated the student-based NSA, not the other super-secret NSAthe National Security Agency. In her covert capacity, she attended the World Youth Festival of Students and Youth, first in 1959 in Vienna, Austria, attended by 18,000 delegates coming from 112 nations, and secondly in Helsinki, Finland, attended by 18,000 delegates from 137 countries. While claiming that her CIA collaboration ended in 1962, new data suggest that her secret work lasted until 1967.

Heidi Boghosian: Doug, let's talk about the class origins of the CIA. Who does it really represent in the United States of America? Is it the establishment?
Douglas Valentine: Well, certainly the CIA is not a social services organization. Its mandate does not state that it should help poor people in the United States. It's mandated to protect the national security of the United States. And by definition, that means the people who actually own the industrial infrastructure, the banking system…the individuals who own the United States, the millionaires and billionaires. The people who through big corporations employ many thousands of Americans. That's what's meant by national security: supporting those corporations and the people that actually are the Wall Street investment bankers, that faction of the United States. And when the Office of Strategic Services (OSS)the predecessor of the CIAwas formed in 1942 by President Roosevelt, the person he went to was a man named William Donovan, who had been a World War I veteran and was a U.S. attorney in Buffalo and elsewhere.
William "Wild Bill" Donovan, Director of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS)the organization which preceded the CIA. Donovan never served in the CIA, yet a bronze life-size statue of him stands in the original CIA headquarters building. [Credit: Britannica] And Donovan went to all the elite people from the Ivy League colleges, from industry, and those individuals were all given the management positions in the OSS. And when the CIA was created, all those people from the upper crustthe OSS was often called the Oh So Socialit was the Foxtrot crowd from Georgetown. All those people went in and took over all the management positions. That does not mean that the CIA does not hire people from all ethnicities…[they hired] translators who speak unusual languages…somebody from Jacksonville, Florida, who plays football or some guy from Texas who's a football player…[that does not mean they] can't get into the CIA and into its paramilitary division.
What it means is that all the important decisions that all the management in the executive positions are filled by people from the upper class and they know perfectly well that the job is to protect the interests of the major corporations and banking institutions. And like I said, the people who actually own America, that's what national security is.
Heidi Boghosian: And what is the CIA's relationship with Trump? Is it independent from him?
Douglas Valentine: Well, I don't exactly know. It's been theorized that when Trump was in financial trouble, and that he needed an influx of capital, he went to Deutsche Bank and massive loans were forthcoming to him. The CIA may have had some hand in that; that the money that was coming to him was from Russian oligarchs who were basically mafia characters in the Soviet Union, that had just collapsed. And the CIA wanted to, again, control political and social movements. Like, in Russia, [the CIA] gravitated towards the wealthiest people and it tried to establish wealthy people in Russia who were beholden to it. The CIA and United States government may have arranged for some of these Russian oligarchs to launder their ill-gotten money to Donald Trump through Deutsche Bank. Trump being a greedy guy, who never thinks beyond the minute, may have been unwitting as to the source of where this money was coming from.
Somebody might've said to him, "Donald, why don't you go to Deutsche Bank? I think you can get a deal there," and just being a greedy guy who lives in the moment, he did it and the money was forthcoming and so he could have been an unwitting recipient of dirty money. That's a theory that's floating around. And if it's true, then the Mueller investigation or any other kind of investigation that was ever launched in the United States would never reveal it because no investigation is ever allowed to reveal the CIA's hand. [S]ecrecy dominates our society; secrecy dominates our culture. It dominates the world and especially it dominates us through the secret of how we're dominated and none of that is ever revealed. And if it was to be revealed, and we were all to understand how the CIA operates and how it actually controls the information that we receive, then there would be a total upheaval in American society.
So, in a sense, Trump would be a protected person forever. If anybody read the Mueller report, you'll see that the CIA is never mentioned. There's a reason for that. You know, these things come to us. People say that, you know, Attorney General William Barr scripted it or somebody else scripted it, but you just never read about it. You don't read about the CIA in the New York Times either. I mean you just don't read about it. And it's because secrecy dominates our society; secrecy dominates our culture. It dominates the world and especially it dominates us through the secret of how we're dominated and none of that is ever revealed. And if it was to be revealed, and we were all to understand how the CIA operates and how it actually controls the information that we receive, then there would be a total upheaval in American society. It just never happens.
Michael Steven Smith: Okay. We're coming to the end of our allotted time, Doug Valentine. But before we let you go, there is a story breaking now that Heidi and I have been discussing about Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, and Trump trying to get Hunter Biden investigated for his position on an energy corporation in the Ukraine. And that's led to a call for impeachment and investigation. What's your take on this story as it's unfolding?
Douglas Valentine: Well, I actually mentioned Hunter in a passage in my book The CIA as Organized Crime: How Illegal Operations Corrupt America and the World. And you know, Hunter Biden was certainly not the only American to prosper as a result of 20 years of CIA covert operations to pull Ukraine away from the Russian orbit. And once that happened, hundreds of American business people just poured into Ukraine and assumed positions in many corporations. [U.S.-born Natalie] Jaresko….the day that she obtained Ukraine citizenship, she became head of the Ukraine Treasury Department. No, I mean, and this is not America! So, if you started investigating Hunter Biden, then you've got to investigate a hundred or a thousand other American business people and political figures who are what I call in my books super-predators who basically operate the way the Mafia does.
You know, they take over governments by twenty years of CIA subversion; blackmailing people and countries, setting them up, overloading them with loans from the IMF or something like that. And then when they can't pay off their loans, they swoop in like vultures and take over their country and they take over their corporations. And so, what Hunter Biden did, and what I stress in my book: This is just business as usual. The only value it has is, in this war of words that's being waged between the Republicans and the Democrats, nothing of the CIA's involvement in setting up these kinds of takeovers in foreign countries is ever, ever going to be revealed. [W]e're subjected to the spectacle of Republicans and Democrats smearing each other, [with] the investigative reporters never getting to the root cause…that America is an imperial nation that is subverting and overtaking foreign governments on a daily basis around the world.
We have this sort of stasis, between the Republicans and the Democrats, where we're subjected to the spectacle of Republicans and Democrats smearing each other, [with] the investigative reporters never getting to the root cause of all this: namely, the fact that America is an imperial nation that is subverting and overtaking foreign governments on a daily basis around the world. And so, we are subjected to this spectacle and that's all we ever see. And the powers that be are perfectly happy for us to be enthralled by this, what I call the anvil chorus: one side hammering the other with smear tactics, ad infinitum. And in the meantime, nobody ever really knows what's going on because everything that's really important is secret and covered up.
Heidi Boghosian: Doug. Unfortunately, we have come to the end of our time. How can listeners read more about what you've done and your body of work on the CIA is really magnificent? Do you have a website?
Douglas Valentine: Yes, I do. You can go to douglasvalentine.com which lists all my books. Plus, if you go to Google and you punch in my name, I am usually the first Doug Valentine that comes up. Google has all my books listed and at this point there's like seven or eight of themI can't remember anymore.
Heidi Boghosian: Thank you so much for being on with us today and we hope to stay in touch as future political developments unravel.
Douglas Valentine: Thank you very much. I appreciate the opportunity.

IMHO the National Security State is orchestrating this Trump impeachment drama. It seems like the agenda is this:
1. Plaster this stuff about Joe Biden and his son all over the media to destroy Biden
2. Start an impeachment trial in the Senate which absorbs all the time of Bernie and Elizabeth Warren during the primaries
3. The impeachment drama will overshadow the Democratic primary race and allow Bloomberg and/or Steyer to sneak in by the back door.
4. Blackmail the Republican Senators with the threat of endless investigations of themselves (and worse, their families) so as to eliminate Trump.
The possibility of Trump being in the White House after 2020, never having to be elected again is anethema to the National Security State, Wall Street, Silicone Valley etc.etc. etc.
IN FACT, ONE COULD SAY WITH SOME ASSURANCE THAT IT WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN.!!!!
As I have posted elsewhere, Steyer's father was a partner in Sullivan and Cromwell which was the Dulles Brothers' law firm and Steyer himself is a Yale graduate and former member of Goldman, Sachs. You just don't get a more pure Deep State resume than that. Probably a Skull and Bones guy, too (just guessing).
Bernie is the only true and consistent progressive. Elizabeth Warren suffers from a fatal lack of self-insight and reflectiveness. Why would she list herself as an ethnic Native American on an application to join the Texas Bar? Even if she had one Native American ancestor, that wouldn't affect her ethnicity. So she doesn't even understand her own ethnicity. That's pretty basic, IMHO.
Warren blithely announces that she would abolish both ICE and the Electoral College.
With respect to the Electoral College, a Harvard Law professor should have to display a better knowledge of the purpose of the Electoral College and have at least a nuanced opinion.
The issue of abolishing the Electoral College is a complicated and nuanced question. It does not merit a "yes or no" answer.
Warren, like Hillary is almost a genius-level IQ, but if you analyze her opinions carefully, you will see that she lacks reflectiveness and self-insight (like Hillary).
The real test will be whether the Deep State (National Security State) can outweigh the total influence of all elected officials in Washington. Right now it looks like the elected officials are backed up on the one-yard line with a few seconds left in the game (so to speak).
I hope I'm wrong. I happen to like the chance to vote on our leaders. I don't want our leaders chosen by the KGB---oops, did I say KGB?---I meant the CIA.

Wayne Madsen writes on the rise of the radical religious fascism in Central and South America
Quote: The recent coup d'état in Bolivia that overthrew President Evo Morales was not merely a standard right-wing putsch aided and abetted by the US Central Intelligence Agency but also placed into power politicians affiliated with a rising fundamentalist Protestant movement in Latin America that can be termed "Christo-fascist." Many of the far-right and out-of-the-mainstream Protestant sects that have gained power in Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil, and, now, Bolivia have decried traditional Roman Catholicism in Latin America as heretical to their religious ideology and even pro-Communist. As for mainstream Protestant religions, the fundamentalist sects view them as hopelessly liberal, as well as heretical.
The recent military coup in Bolivia that ousted democratically-elected President Evo Morales from office involved senior active duty and retired high-ranking officers of the Bolivian armed forces, some of whom were trained and indoctrinated at the infamous US "School of the Americas," known since 2001 as the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC), located in Fort Benning, Georgia. One of the School of the Americas trainees is General Williams Kaliman, the now-former commander of the Bolivian armed forces who ordered Morales to step down as president. Kaliman's service to the coup was not very appreciated by its ringmasters, the fundamentalist Christians, among whom is the current acting president of Bolivia, Jeanine Ãñez Chávez. One of Ãñez's first moves after she seized power was to dismiss Kaliman as the head of the armed forces and replace him with General Carlos Orellana. Ãñez was the second vice president of the Senate and assumed the Bolivian presidency after Morales and the senior members in the line of succession in the governing Movement for Socialism (MAS) party were forced to resign by the military.
In keeping with the tenets of Christo-fascism in Latin America, Ãñez not only rejects Roman Catholicism but also the traditional beliefs of the indigenous Aymara people of Bolivia as "satanic." Morales was the first native Aymara to be elected president. During his tenure, Morales improved the living conditions of the Aymara and other poor people in Bolivia who had historically been treated as second-class citizens by the country's wealthy white European population. Under the direction of the Christo-fascist coup leaders, the homes of Morales and other MAS officials were ransacked by rioters and pro-Morales government and media officials were physically attacked. Bolivia TV, Nueva Patria Radio, and newspapers supporting Morales were shut down by the putschists. Bolivia's Wiphala flag, which served as Bolivia's second official flag and represents the 36 indigenous tribes of the country, was burned by the coup-supporting rioters.
The planning for the coup in Bolivia was reportedly backed by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, President Donald Trump's first director of the Central Intelligence Agency and a Christo-fascist member of the right-wing breakaway from the Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Other School of the Americas alumni were identified among the key Bolivian coup plotters. These include Manfred Reyes Villa, a former military officer, presidential candidate, mayor of Cochabamba, and governor of the Cochabamba Department, as well as General Remberto Siles Vasquez, Colonel Julio César Maldonado Leoni, Colonel Oscar Pacello Aguirre, and Colonel Teobaldo Cardozo Guevara.
One of the major Christo-fascist politicians who supported the coup against Morales is Luis Fernando Camacho, the head of a dubious "civic association" in Santa Cruz. The Bolivian media has described Camacho as "extremely right-wing" and a "Christian fascist." Camacho has also been linked to Croatian-Bolivian Branko Marinko, who fled to the United States in 2009 after he and other plotters attempted to overthrow the MAS government and assassinate Morales. Camacho's questionable business activities was exposed in the release of the "Panama Papers," which showed that he owned an offshore Panamanian company called Navi International Holding S.A.
Bolivian government officials who remain loyal to Evo Morales, who was forced to seek political asylum in Mexico, claim the coup was also supported by several foreign far-right and right-wing politicians, including Colombian President Ivan Duque; his political puppet master, former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe; Brazilian neo-fascist President Jair Bolsonaro, and US Senators Marco Rubio (Republican-Florida), Rick Scott (Republican-Florida), Ted Cruz (Republican-Texas), and Robert Menendez (Democrat-New Jersey). All the senators are closely linked to right-wing Cuban expatriate oligarchs who, for the most part, live in south Florida.
The putsch against Morales began within the PolicÃa Nacional de Bolivia (PNB) ranks. The commander of the police who ordered the police revolt is Colonel Vladimir Calderón, who has strong ties to a CIA-influenced group based in Washington, Police Attachés of Latin America in the United States of America (APALA). Just prior to the launch of the coup, Trump spoke to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Annual Conference and Exposition in Chicago, another CIA liaison and recruiting ground for police assets, including those in Latin America. In 2018, the IACP welcomed Colonel Calderon, the initial coup leader, to its membership. It is also noteworthy that one of the financiers of the IACP is 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg's Bloomberg Foundation.
The coup in Bolivia followed the template of the initial presidential actions of Bolsonaro in Brazil. Bolsonaro is another fundamentalist Christo-fascist, who, since his inauguration, has worked to oust Morales from power. The first steps of the new Bolivian foreign minister, Karen Longaric, was to sever diplomatic relations with Venezuela, expel the Venezuelan embassy staff, recognize the CIA-backed opposition Venezuelan government of Juan Guaido, and expel several Cuban diplomats and arrest Cuban doctors. The actions taken against Cuban doctors mirrors that of Bolsonaro in Brazil and President Lenin Moreno in Ecuador, the latter having turned his country away from progressive policies to become a lapdog for the CIA and Pentagon.
The coup in Bolivia had an uncanny resemblance to the 2010 attempted putsch by the Ecuadorian National Police against President Rafael Correa, an ally of Bolivia's Morales. Correa was held as a virtual hostage at the Police Hospital in Quito for the greater part of a day prior to his being freed by loyal Ecuadorian military personnel.
There is little doubt that the Bolivian coup involved disciples of the Virginia-based Brazilian Christo-fascist "guru" Olavo de Carvalho. Among Carvalho's disciples are Bolsonaro, Brazilian foreign minister Ernesto Araújo, and Brazilian Education Minister Abraham Weintraub. Carvalho has identified himself as a fundamentalist Christian and an astrologer and not only doubts the Earth revolves around the sun but harbors a belief that the Earth is actually flat. Carvalho's teachings about climate change being a "Marxist conspiracy" have directly influenced Bolsonaro's policies on further destruction of the Amazon rainforest through unbridled industrial exploitation. Carvalho demonized Brazil's two Workers' Party presidents, Dilma Rousseff, who was impeached and removed from office on phony charges, and Rouseff's popular predecessor, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who was recently released from prison after he was convicted on trumped up charges by right-wing prosecutor Sergio Moro, who now served as Bolsonaro's Justice Minister.
One of the first and most notorious Christo-fascist leaders in Latin America was Guatemala's dictator, EfraÃn RÃos Montt, also known as "Brother EfraÃn," who was a member of the Guatemalan chapter of the Gospel Outreach Church of Eureka, California. Montt and the church had close ties to US Christo-fascist leaders, including Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Montt, who was militarily backed by the Ronald Reagan administration and Israel, carried out a genocidal scorched-earth war against Guatemala's indigenous Mayan population. A favorite extermination target of Christo-fascists is the native indigenous population of the Western Hemisphere, who, as charged by Bolivia's interim president Ãñez, are "Satanists" because they continue to practice their traditional religious rituals.
As was the case in Bolivia, Christo-fascist fundamentalists have been mobilized against the progressive governments of Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.
There is something else that binds the Christo-fascists that has little to do with religion and everything to do with making quick profits: narcotics smuggling. Rios Montt's paramilitary death squads financed their operations by smuggling drugs, particularly cocaine. During Montt's rule, Guatemala was a link in the chain of CIA drug smuggling operations that involved the Nicaraguan contras, Colombian narco-terrorist cartels, and Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega.
The narco-traffickers have been buoyed by the Christo-fascist takeover of Bolivia. Interim President Ãñez is married to Héctor Hernando Hincapié Carvajal of the Colombian Conservative Party, an ally of the narco-terrorist-backed Duque administration and its political puppet masters, former President Uribe and his financiers in the Medellin-based Ochoa clan drug cartel. Ever since Morales legalized in Bolivia the production of coca leaves, used in traditional Aymara medicines and as a tea refreshment, Latin American drug cartels have seen their profits go into a tailspin. Bolivia was competing with the Colombian cartels as a source for legally grown coca leaves. The Christo-fascists may believe in the Bible, but they also understand that their religious movements can be supported by cash from the narco-trade.
A proper symbol for Latin America's Christo-fascists would be the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro wearing a pair of ammunition bandoliers while standing on a couple of bricks of cocaine.
