Besides an imaginary Cuban sandwich...

It is high time we had some Cuban music on this forum!

The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

And then there was Lara Fabian singing about a:

Well, fuck me, besides eating everything that walks, crawls, swims or flies, the French will always sing about food won't they...

After about the 3rd time I listened to the damned song I realized it wasn't about the magnificent mellow yellow peeler at all, but about us. Phew!

Bloody frogs. Always trying to trick you.

Oh well, back to the Foie Gras, Burgundy and Calvados I suppose...

Thanks David. Both really lovely. Cuban music is always so much fun.

Don't encourage me Maggie! :-)

My old man travelled to Havana a number of times in the 1950's during the time of Batista and the mob. I have a few stories, including the snakepit (I think it was called anyway), that was featured in one of the Godfather films...

Some nice, life-affirming Cuban music from that era:

“The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.”

:Confusedhock:: And here I was thinking your old man was a respectable medico quietly plying his trade in the midlands. I have a whole new view of your Guyatt ancestors now. Cheers Tell me more!
